[android-developers] Rechnung mit EU Umsatzsteuer

2021-09-22 Thread 'Jonathan Schwankenson' via Android Developers
Hi,

[android-developers] Problems installing the AVD

2016-06-09 Thread Jonathan Jansson
Hi!

I'm new to using Android Studios and I'm having some trouble seting up my
Android Studios AVD. When i install Android Studios and the download of the
SDK and so on is complete, the last two lines in the installer reads:
"Creating Android virtual device"
"Unable to create a virtual device: Unable to create Android virtual device"

When i continue and head in to the AVD Manager the preinstalled emulator
(Nexus 5x...) reads "Failed to load" under Actions.
If i create a new virtual device and run it (I have tried alot of different
setups and have downloaded other devices to run) i get this message:

C:\Users\Natwombe\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\tools\emulator.exe -netdelay
none -netspeed full -avd Nexus_5_API_23
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::logic_error'
  what():  basic_string::_S_construct null not valid

And after this nothing happens (The emulator does not start).

I also noted that when i open the SDK Manager there are two things listed
as broken:
"Google APIs by Google Inc., Android API 23, recision 1[*]"
"Broken Intel x86 Atom google_apis [Google APIs] System Image, by Google
Inc., API 23"

So i've been trying to get this to work for about a day now and i'm about
to give up, here is a list of what i have tried so far:

- Download a new Android studios Installer
(android-studio-bundle-143.2915827)
- Clean out evertying from the last install including projects, SDK and so
on.
- Reinstall Everything from scratch, once with as few SDK installs as
possible and once with almost everything possible
- Uninstall all verisons of JDK and reinstall the latest version (8_92)
- Reinstall the Intel emulatior acceleretor.
- Testing about 50 different setups for the virtual devices
- Unenabling the VT-x in BIOS and enabling it again
- Shutting off windows firewall and windows defender
- Running Android Studios as administrator

It might be worth noting that i tested to setup a phone as testing device,
which worked without any problems what so ever.

Here is a specification list of my PC:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, SP1
MB: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Z77X-UD3H
CPU: i5 3450, (3.10GHz Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology)
RAM: 8gb DDR3 1600MHz
GPU: GTX 570

I did find some information about people with Ubuntu having the same
problem when installing.
In their case the problem was that the sdk was using some 32bit libraries
which the latest version of Ubuntu64 no longer supplied.
Though i have no idea how that relates to windows as im not that familiar
with that.

Sorry for a very long post! Hope you guys have some ideas of what could be
the problem, thanks!

[android-developers] Android Lockscreen replacement

2016-05-21 Thread Jonathan Pethő

Hi all,

I am developing a lock screen application, which is an alternative for the
factory lock. There are some similar applications on the Play Store, so it
doesn’t seem to be impossible to solve my issue.

I successfully created a view with layoutinflater that covers the full
screen, but it also covers the phone calls, alarms, etc, what is
embarrassing. Currently I do this with the windowManager like this:

View.*inflate*(*this*, R.layout.*main*, main_frame);
WindowManager.LayoutParams localLayoutParams = *new *
WindowManager.LayoutParams(
WindowManager.LayoutParams.*TYPE_SYSTEM_ERROR*,
WindowManager.LayoutParams.*FLAG_NOT_FOCUSABLE *|
WindowManager.LayoutParams.*FLAG_NOT_TOUCH_MODAL *|
WindowManager.LayoutParams.*FLAG_LAYOUT_IN_SCREEN*,
PixelFormat.*TRANSPARENT*);
*final *WindowManager winManager = (WindowManager) getSystemService(
*WINDOW_SERVICE*);
winManager.addView(main_frame, localLayoutParams);

As you can see, I use TYPE_SYSTEM_ERROR in the code, which works perfectly
excepting this issue. The other applications might use TYPE_KEYGUARD or
TYPE_KEYGUARD_DIALOG, but it throws a security exception for me. I’m unable
to set a permission that enables me to use this feature. What should I do
to enable it, or how can I set the z-index of the view manually?

Furthermore, on some device I can disable the factory lock manually, which
is great, but not every device supports the “no lock screen” mode, just the
“slide” option, which shows me the factory lock screen, so I have to
disable it programmatically.

I tried it using the KeyguardManager and was able to disable the factory
locker. When I unlocked the phone with my application and pressed the app
overview button then the home button, the screen turned black and the
device became unusable.

This is a known issue on the bug list, so I know this is a system problem.
Are there any other solution that enables me or the user to remove the
factory lock screen on any device?

Looking forward for your answers,

Jonathan Pethő

[android-developers] Problems to access to Android Screenshot Library from an IntentService

2015-03-12 Thread Jonathan Chacón Barbero
Hello,

I am still developing an App to take screenshots from a service in background.
I decided to install Android Screenshot library from ADB.
But now the problem is this:

When I try to connect to Android Screenshot library (AsL) from an IntentService
using this code I get a null pointer exception:
try {
bindService (new Intent(pl.polidea.asl.ScreenshotService.BIND), aslServiceConn,
Context.BIND_AUTO_CREATE);
} catch (Exception e) {
Log.e(TAG, e.toString());
}

How can I access to a Bind service from an Intent service?

[android-developers] Re: INSTALL_FAILED_DUPLICATE_PERMISSION

uses-permission and permission have to be unique

On Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 10:27:03 AM UTC-5, marten wrote:

 Hi all,

 we've some problems with Android 5. There seems to be a new policy that
 requires two apps that define the same permissions to be signed by the
 same key. Otherwise you can't install the app getting the error
 INSTALL_FAILED_DUPLICATE_PERMISSION.
 This is very annoying and I'd like to know that the suggested
 solution/workaround to this is.

 We have an Open Source task app that provides access to the tasks via a
 ContentProvider. The concept pretty much equals the CalendarProvider. We
 also have a (not yet Open Source) sync app that can sync to this task
 app (or its ContentProvider).
 The problem is that (in contrast to the CalendarProvider) our users
 usually install the sync app first. That means the permissions of the
 task app are not known when the sync app is installed. So they are not
 granted automatically when the task app is installed afterwards.

 Until Android 5 the solution was to define the same permissions in the
 sync app. But that doesn't work any more in some cases. If the user
 compiles the task app himself he can not use our sync app at the same
 time, because they are not signed by the same key.

 How can we achieve that we protect access to the task ContentProvider by
 permissions still allowing them to use a self compiled version?

 Even if both apps are signed by the same key it doesn't seem to work in
 some cases (does Android 5 also require both apps to be from the same
 source?)

 A similar issue exists when another developer tries to build a sync app
 that can sync to our task app. He can not add the same permissions,
 because he can't use the same signing key. But if he can't add the same
 permission definition his app won't get the permission if it's installed
 before the task app is installed.

 What's the solution of this mess?

 thanks

 I did a search in the LogCat, but there is nothing about ErrnoException.

Anonymous Inner Class has a strong reference of class itself. You may have
to pass Context into it.

 the activity is closed. I can see that with

 I know enough to know that that is bad.

 But what I cannot see is WHY. Why is that stupid activity still in memory
 twice?

 I seem to remember that I right click on something and choose Merge Path
 to GC Roots.

 Then I get something like this.

 Class
 Name

 | Ref. Objects | Shallow Heap | Ref. Shallow Heap | Retained Heap

 com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneLayoutInflater @ 0x42d2b0d8

'- mContext android.app.ContextImpl @

   '- mOuterContext MyActivity @ 0x42d4f008  |1
 |  536 |   536 | 3,864

 Well that PhoneLayoutInflater shouldn't be holding on to that context of a
 closed activity, but I don't think I control that.
 And definitely that ZygoteInit thing shouldn't be holding a context in a
 static way, but I don't control that either.

 Any tips on finding the causes better?

[android-developers] Re: DefaultHttpClient / AndroidHttpClient - Multiple Cookie Headers

2014-08-09 Thread Jonathan S
I see you add two Cookie Headers.

On Saturday, August 9, 2014 3:08:32 PM UTC-4, Gaurav Vaish wrote:

 Hi,

 I noticed that DefaultHttpClient as well as AndroidHttpClient do not work
 nicely if multiple Cookie or Cookie2 headers are set in a request.

 I tried with a simple test code:

 String url = http://www.myserver.com;;
 DefaultHttpClient dhc = new DefaultHttpClient();
 HttpParams hparams = dhc.getParams();
 hparams.setParameter(CookieSpecPNames.SINGLE_COOKIE_HEADER, true);

 HttpGet req =new HttpGet(url);

 req.addHeader(Cookie, A=B);
 req.addHeader(Cookie, C=D);
 req.addHeader(User-Agent, AndroidExp/ApacheHttpClient);

 try {
 HttpResponse response = dhc.execute(req);
 message = (response == null) ? No response : (Status -  +
 response.getStatusLine().getStatusCode());
 } catch(Exception e) {
 message = e.getClass().getName() +  =  + e.getMessage();
 e.printStackTrace();
 } catch(RuntimeException e) {
 message = e.getClass().getName() +  =  + e.getMessage();
 e.printStackTrace();
 }

 And then monitored via Charles Proxy. The request being created is as
 follows:

 GET / HTTP/1.1
 Cookie: A=B
 Cookie: C=D
 User-Agent: AndroidExp/ApacheHttpClientTask

 As per HTTP spec, there can be only one Cookie header.
 The same happens with AndroidHttpClient as well.

 Do I have a wrong config or did I just find a bug in the code?

 Any pointers will be useful.

 If I set a breakpoint in the remote handler code, when it's NOT crashing,
 the stack trace in the Eclipse debugger says

 *Thread[ 9 Thread-10] (Suspended breakpoint at line 600 in

 But if I set a breakpoint in my catch-block when it crashes it names the

 *Thread[ 9 Thread-10] (Suspended breakpoint at line 605 in
 MyRemoteActivity)*

 (... different line number because it's the catch-block which is a few
 lines down.)

 My question: If it's the wrong thread then why does the stack trace show
 the same thread in the cases where it crashes and where it doesn't? And
 what does the Eclipse debugger thread nomenclature ( Thread x[ Thread-y]

 Thanks in advance!

[android-developers] How to get Twitter authorization without WebView interface?

2013-11-03 Thread Jonathan Chacón Barbero
Hello,

I'm developing a Twitter client and I get the Twitter authorization account
using a WebView control to get the PIN and other data for authorization.

Because of some accessibility problems with WebView I can't use a WebView
control. I thought of designing a native interface with two EditText controls
for User and password fields. After getting the login data I need to use this
data with the Twitter authorization page without a WebView control but I don't
know how can I do it.

I looked for any tutorial or documentation to do it but I could not find
anything.

Any help?

The project is for Android 4.0 or higher

Thanks in advance

[android-developers] Re: Augmented Reality frameworks - what your choice?

2013-08-08 Thread Jonathan
I think AR has enough required frameworks, which I've used without major
issue.

 From your experience, what is the best option for an Augmented reality
 framework?
 If you have developed one or developed with one, please comment.

 There isn't a lack of options - just looking for feedback on which ones
 actually work.
 The largest list I could find on this topic is this:

 http://socialcompare.com/en/comparison/augmented-reality-sdks

 I probably need:

- GPS and sensors use
- Placement of markers, icons, and some vectors (lines or shapes) in
the 3D world.
- Should work without internet or data. Shouldn't be a problem since I
am not counting on an online feed.
- Non GPL.

 I may need ( in the dream future):

- more complex 3d rendering with meshes and dynamically loaded
textures. Nothing too major, just maybe like overlaying a Google Earth
 like
image with the camera. ;)

 I probably don't need:

- Data for the Points of Interest, I'll provide my own and they'll be
small in number.
- Computer Vision based reality. That eliminates quite a few.
- Object manipulation - I don't need to design cities or anything like
that.

 I'm looking for more of the viewfinder sort of thing.

 I prefer buy over build, I think because I don't want to start from
 scratch on working around the bugs on every single device. Of course, I
 don't want to buy and still have to fix all the bugs myself.

 So here are some I'm considering.

- ARLab.com. As described on their website at least, it sounds like
the ArBrowser
- Wikitude. A bit more expensive, but possibly more established and
mature. Since their sample app has a million downloads.
-

 http://www.chupamobile.com/products/details/296/Augmented+Reality+Toolkit/.
Probably made by a guy in his basement, but if it does work, it is only
$20. Probably worth buying just to prototype something before going full
scale.

 Can anyone comment?

 I've simulated the purchase of a region (let's say, Chicago), my device
 apparently caches that data, so that when I update the database, the
 updates don't push through. I've tried clearing the cache on the app,
 erasing all theapp data, and disabling the Backup Restore feature on the
 device, then completely uninstalling the APK. But when I reinstall a the
 APK from scratch, it installs with the Chicago region already showing as
 having been purchased, still showing the old database data.

 Question is, how can I get the APK to reinstall as if for the very first
 time, with no previous purchases or downloads, so that it pulls fresh data
 from the DB?

 Thanks.

[android-developers] Re: Cross-platform development question

2013-06-21 Thread Jonathan S
Java is more verbose than C# because it requires a lot of boiler plate to
get it to work. If you can make a RESTful Service to return data as XML or
JSON, it would be useful.

On Friday, June 21, 2013 5:17:31 PM UTC-4, Mark Turkel wrote:

 Hi all,

 This is an interesting question, but a bit of background first...my
 company has been developing software for almost 30 years now. We have
 always been a .net house, but now we're creating Android and iOS apps as
 well. I don't want to have to write business logic and database access
 logic for each different platform, and since we're doing cloud apps, we
 should be able to call web services to get and put data into the database.

 We have been using Entity Framework to communicate with SQL Server for our
 databases, and, as of late, we have been creating Single Page Applications
 using Breeze and Knockout.

 We have created RESTful services using the WebAPI, but in working with
 Breeze, we like how it calls an IQueryable object. My goal is to
 write-once, and be able to re-use for the mobile development.

 LINQ really makes things easier in that we don't have to have a specific
 API call for each entity, but I haven't found the right library, or I'm not
 using the right keywords for Google to search...I dunno, but all I'm
 finding are LINQ libraries that work on data already in memory. That means
 I will have to bring LOTS of data to the mobile device just to work with
 it, and that's time-consuming and also will quickly eat up storage
 space...and why should I do that, when I have a powerful SQL Server that
 can get me only the data I need.

 An example:

 Just about every application starts out showing a list of reecords on a
 grid. (It would require a query that returns an ID, and one or more
 descriptive fields (like first and last name).) So we know we can create a
 RESTful API called getCustomers() and it would return the list for us to
 populate the grid. Upon selection of an item, we would then want to make
 another call to the database to populate a detail screen. We could create
 another RESTful API called getCustomer(id), for example, and it should
 return the fields that we need to populate the screen.

 OR we could use the Entity Framework to create a Customers() object, and
 use LINQ to get what we want from it, just by modifying the calling
 URLwhich is easy, fun, and cool in the .net environment, and would
 satisfy my requirements of using the same business code for all platforms.

 So here's the question:

 How do you make a call to a RESTful service that returns an iQueryable
 object from Android (Java)? Is there a Breeze-type of library for Android?
  What is the best way to do this - create specific RESTful APIs, or is
 there a way to use this business layer we have already created that's
 living on the server?

each library has own unique package name. You have to set it separate from

 I can't build a project that depends on a library project.

 I've try dropping and re adding it, of course.

 The jar file of the library project shows up as an Android Dependency in

 But noone has told the compiler that. It fails to resolve package names

 narrow it down I deleted *ALL* the buttons, so now I just have a
 LinearLayout with an ImageView and I'm *still* getting the error. My Java:

 try  {
 setContentView(R.layout.graphics);
 }
 catch (Exception e)  {
 Log.d(DGraphActivity, setContentView crash);
 }

 My XML:

 ?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8?LinearLayout

 android:layout_width=match_parent
 android:layout_height=match_parent
 android:orientation=horizontal

   android:layout_width=0px
   android:layout_weight=2
   android:layout_height=match_parent
   android:scaleType=fitCenter
 /ImageView
  /LinearLayout

 The error says *android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: Resource
 ID #0x7f030005*. In the R.java file that resource is identified with the
 graphics . . .

 public static final class layout {
 public static final int addcomment=0x7f03;

 public static final int downrightarrow=0x7f030004;
 public static final int graphics=0x7f030005;
 public static final int infofromoperator=0x7f030006;

 I deleted the gen folder and did a clean of** the project with no
 improvement.

 I also rebooted my PC and did an explicit close of the project.

 I did a Refresh of my project

 I do not have an explicit import Android.R

 There's nothing obviously wrong with the graphics.xml file - it exists in
 the same folder with all my other XML files; it's not write-protected or
 hidden. Eclipse doesn't flag any errors or warnings for it.

 Thanks in advance.

[android-developers] Re: Sharing SharedPreferences from two different processes

Context.MODE_MULTI_PROCESS

That is only available in API 11+ (3.0 and later)

On Monday, May 13, 2013 7:29:37 PM UTC-4, Gary Blakely wrote:

 My app originally had an activity and a service running in the same
 process. When I first wrote it I specified sharedPreferences with
 MODE_PRIVATE. The app has grown, and for reasons beyond the scope of this
 post, I now need to run my service in a different process.

 I found I can do this by specifying a name starting with a colon in the
 android:process statement in my manifest file.

 However now my activity and my service are no longer reading the same
 sharedPreferences. Researching this problem I see many reccommendations to
 use MODE_MULTI_PROCESS. But I cannot figure out how to spedify it.

 SharedPreferences myMemory = getSharedPreferences(myMemory,
 MODE_MULTI_PROCESS);

 This does not work because Eclipse can't find MODE_MULTI_PROCESS like it
 can find MODE_PRIVATE or MODE_WORLD_READABLE. I don't know where the ENUM
 for MODE_MULTI_PROCESS is.

 So, how can I specify MODE_MULTI_PROCESS ??

That wouldn't work because getResources need Context.

You have to call it in a function like public static boolean

R.bool.forMarket is a constants too.

 Sorry, this is crap. I should have said:

 getResources().getBoolean(R.bool.forMarket);

 My question is: if my current live Google Play app currently supports
 2.1+, and if i go and re-write it to support 4.0+ only policy. When i
 upload the APK, will (1) the current users of the app just not get the
 updates from that point until they update their Android OS version, and (2)
 will only 4.0+ users have access to the app in Google play?

 I'm not sure how this works with an app currently supporting 2.1+ wanting
 to move away 4.0+. I just cant find the information i need.
 Any info appreciated.
 Many thanks,

 I'm definitely calling dataChanged(), but have just also tried an extra

 I have previously been reinstalling my app by running it in the eclipse
 debugger, which does the reinstall for me. I'm not sure what the exact
 command it runs is. I don't have the wipe user data checkbox ticked. I
 tried reinstalling from the command line using
 adb install -r path to my apk
 as you suggested, but again all my user data was not available.

 How are you saving your private data files? I'm doing

 FileOutputStream out_file = openFileOutput(SAVED_MENU_ITEMS_FILENAME,
 MODE_PRIVATE);
 out_file.write(json_to_write.toString().getBytes());
 out_file.close();

 If I compare the output from logcat from my phone
 http://pastebin.com/wZX7iys8
 With that from the AVD device running 2.2 http://pastebin.com/q0Y7v3re

 You can see that on the AVD device it does a backup, and restores it,
 whereas on the phone there is no backup and no restore in the logging.

 I suspect that backup is just broken on my phone. I guess I need to know
 an app that implements backup well, so that I can try with that one, which
 will tell me if it's my code or my phone that's busted.

 Thank you for reading this far! :)

 item@style/AppBaseThemeLight/item
 item@style/AppBaseThemeDark/item

 I'm trying to get the array to hold the constant values for the given

 Defined as:

 The program compiles - but when I run and click to open the ListPreference

 If I replace the item entries with @styles with a string - it works.

 Hi,

 I'm trying to place an activity in a floating window, with an action bar.
 Something similar to this:

 returns null.

 If I create my own theme, inherit from Holo.Light, and the only change I
 make is to set windowIsFloating to true, the app crashes when accessing the

Re: [android-developers] Re: OnStop and OnDestroy aren`t invoked after calling finish()

2012-12-22 Thread Jonathan S
onDestroy - The final call you receive before your activity is destroyed.
This can happen either because the activity is finishing (someone called *
finish()* on it, or because the system is temporarily destroying this
instance of the activity to save space. You can distinguish between these
two scenarios with the isFinishing() method.

onStop - Called when the activity is no longer visible to the user, because
another activity has been resumed and is covering this one. This may happen
either because a new activity is being started, an existing one is being
brought in front of this one, or this one is being destroyed. Followed by
either onRestart() if this activity is coming back to interact with the
user, or onDestroy() if this activity is going away.

finish() will call onDestroy() but not onStop()

 THis is not the first time I've written a sync adapter, but thi is the

 I can't find were it might be happening and I'm wondering if anyone else

 The problem is that it seems to be internal to the SyncAdapter.
 I already know that the likely reason for the Handler exception is a UI
 call in a non UI thread, but the trouble is that I am not using any UI in
 the syncadapter (not even a toast). I have heard that its possible for
 another thread to die and cause a cascade that is not obvious, but it that
 is happening here, there are no clues I can see.

 So... if anyone can shed some light on this issue, I've love to hear what
 you have to say.

 i implement side navigation in my code and i used this librairy

 the list side extends FragmentActivity and the Main side extends

 when i click in item of the list i want the main fragment replaced by
 another fragment

 so it there a way to do transaction fragment in the Main FragmentActivity
 from the list FragmentActivity what i can add to this code to make the
 transaction in Main not in List

 FragmentTransaction ft
 =getActivity().getSupportFragmentManager().beginTransaction();
 ft.replace(R.id.fragment, newFragment);
 ft.addToBackStack(null);
 ft.commit();

[android-developers] In-app Subscription: Purchase Token and purchase time uniqueness

2012-11-20 Thread Jonathan
I have a couple of questions regarding purchase tokens. 1) Is the purchase
token supposed to be unique for each user per subscription product or just
for each user? (In my tests, I have purchased two subscriptions, and both
have the same purchase token. I just want to verify that this is correct
behavior.)2) When the purchase state would have been changed to expired
(but has instead auto-renewed), does the auto-renew change the purchase
time?

Thanks for the insight!

[android-developers] In-app Subscriptions: Can users resubscribe after a refund or cancellation?

2012-11-20 Thread Jonathan
Do users retain the ability to change their minds. If they cancel their
subscriptions, then are they blocked from ever being able to re-subscribe
again? Or do they still get the option to undo their cancellations?

[android-developers] Re: Is in-app billing subsction purchaseToken persistent?

2012-11-20 Thread Jonathan
I believe that the purchaseToken persists, and it only changes its purchase
state. It should not be possible to buy twice. When I have attempted a
purchase request with the product id of an item already subscribed, it pops
up with a message that indicates that I already own it and cannot purchase
again. Another safeguard to ensure that the situation never arises anyway
is to update your UI to disable controls that trigger purchase requests. I
hope this info helps.

 Will subscription purchaseToken be changed after user buys
 expired/canceled subscription again? Subscription is managed item, but it's
 possible to buy it twice, so it's behavior is not clear.
