 Yes.

 Or can Google Play have a separate login?

 It can if you create a different account for distributing apps.

[android-developers] Re: Emulate long pression of keys

2012-06-28 Thread Sal Dekku
Hi Lew. I already use Robotium for touch interactions. In this case I
need to emulate the pression of a hardware key, such as the VOLUME
keys, the SEARCH key, the KEYPAD and so on.

For the normal down and up key stroke, I'm using Robotium own
pressKey() which is just a short hand for an Instrumentation
method called sendKeyDownUpSync()

Now i need a longPressKey function that emulates the down,
wait and then up key stroke, the one you use on the POWER
key to turn the device on and off.

The result should be that the both the onKeyDown and
onKeyLongPress() methods in my testbed application should
be executed. (This is what actually happens running the application
on a device and performing a long pression of a key.)

What I get instead when I run the Test Case is that the
onKeyDown() function is executed repeatedly, once for each
repetition of the pressed key.

Thanks for your time,

DeK

 I would just use Robotium, and its 'Solo#clickLongOn...()' methods.

[android-developers] Re: Emulate long pression of keys

2012-06-21 Thread Sal Dekku
Hello!

I've wrote some code to help me solve the problem, a little application to
use as a testbed. Also, here's one of many test units I wrote to emulate
the long press.

package com.nofatclips.keyevent.test;

 import com.nofatclips.keyevent.KeyEventsDumpActivity;

 import android.os.SystemClock;
 import android.test.ActivityInstrumentationTestCase2;
 import android.util.Log;
 import android.view.KeyEvent;

 public class KeyEventTest extends
 ActivityInstrumentationTestCase2KeyEventsDumpActivity {
 private KeyEventsDumpActivity mActivity; // the activity under test

 public KeyEventTest() {
   super(com.nofatclips.keyevent, KeyEventsDumpActivity.class);
 }

 @Override
 protected void setUp() throws Exception {
 super.setUp();
 mActivity = this.getActivity();
 }

 public void testLongPress() {
 sendKeyDownUpLong(KeyEvent.KEYCODE_MENU);
 }

 public void sendKeyDownUpLong(final int key) {
 final KeyEvent downEvent = new KeyEvent (KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN,
 key);
 sendKeyDownUp(downEvent);
 sleep(500);

 for (int repetition = 0; repetition50; repetition++) {
 KeyEvent newEvent = KeyEvent.changeTimeRepeat(downEvent,
 SystemClock.uptimeMillis(), repetition, downEvent.getFlags() |
 KeyEvent.FLAG_LONG_PRESS);
 sendKeyDownUp(newEvent);
 sleep(5);
 }

 final KeyEvent upEvent = new KeyEvent (KeyEvent.ACTION_UP, key);
 sendKeyDownUp (upEvent);
 }

 public void sendKeyDownUp(KeyEvent key) {
 getInstrumentation().sendKeySync(key);
 getInstrumentation().waitForIdleSync();
 }

 public void sleep (int msec) {
 try {
 Thread.sleep(msec);
 } catch (InterruptedException e) {
 Log.e(nofatclips, Could not sleep. Mosquito alert!, e);
 return;
 }

 }

 }

And here's the testbed. The XML layout:

?xml version=1.0 encoding=utf-8?
 LinearLayout xmlns:android=http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android;
 android:layout_width=match_parent
 android:layout_height=match_parent

 android:textAppearance=?android:attr/textAppearanceLarge /

 TextView
 android:id=@+id/counter
 android:layout_width=wrap_content
 android:layout_height=wrap_content
 android:text=0 /

and the code for the activity:

package com.nofatclips.keyevent;

 import android.app.Activity;
 import android.os.Bundle;
 import android.view.KeyEvent;
 import android.widget.*;

 public class KeyEventsDumpActivity extends Activity {

 int counter = 0;

 /** Called when the activity is first created. */
 @Override
 public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
 super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
 setContentView(R.layout.key_event);
 }

 public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent event)  {
 counter++;
 ((TextView)findViewById(R.id.counter)).setText(+counter);
 ((TextView)findViewById(R.id.lastKeyPressed)).setText(+keyCode);
 event.startTracking();
 return true; //super.onKeyDown (keyCode, event);

[android-developers] Emulate long pression of keys

2012-06-14 Thread Sal Dekku
Hello!

I was wondering if it is possible to emulate the long pression
of a device button via the Instrumentation during the execution
of an Android Junit test (i.e. long pressing HOME to open the
Recent Tasks or long pressing VOL DOWN in eBook
readers to go down a page)

I tried to play with the source code of sendKeyDownUpSync()
from android.app.Instrumentation, writing my own version to add
a pause between the down event and the up event and/or a
FLAG_LONG_PRESS to the up KeyEvent, to no avail.

Thanks in advance

 Here is the main part of the MyOverlay::Draw() method:

         Point bottom_right = new Point();
         mapView.getProjection().toPixels(max, bottom_right);
         // Prepare two rectangles (pixels)
         Rect src = new Rect( 0,0,bmp.getWidth() - 1, bmp.getHeight() -
 1 );
         Rect dst = new Rect( top_left.x, bottom_right.y,
 bottom_right.x,top_left.y );
         // draw bitmap
         canvas.drawBitmap( bmp, src, dst, null);
 Since it uses current mapView then zooming and panning are supported
 automatically.
 Obviously you need to know left top (GeoPoint min in the code above)
 and right bottom (GeoPoint max) coordinates for your picture (I used
 Google Earth for this purpose).
 Good luck.

[android-developers] Re: make JPEG image has map

2010-11-24 Thread sal
Hi,

Thanks Kostya and Leon for your suggestions

Even i am going on with same approach, I have predefined set of
location information , i just need to show that information on the
image by mapping this location information to pixel co-ordinates of
the image. i am searching for some sample codes which can mark up on
image based on user supplied information.

let me know if you find sample codes which does mark up on image

 Im not sure of sample code for this, but here is how I would implement
 this. You dont necessarily need a map. An image view with a moving
 curses could be possible. You would set the location on the cursor in
 the image by using GPS location. You can receive lat and lon to your
 device. You would then convert those positions to X and Y respectively
 on your display. Then every time the location updates the cursor would
 move on your map.

user can track is movement.

I am really confused wheather JPEG file can be used as a map, if it
can used as a map then please let me know how i can mark the movement

[android-developers] Problem with Serversocket

2008-12-02 Thread sal

But now i am encountering a new problem as follows

i have created Serversocket as follows

ServerSocket clientListenerSocket = new ServerSocket();

But i dont see port# being in listening state when i do
netstat
-a on windows XP machine.Strange part is that its not generating any
exception. because of this my client on another host is unable to
connect to the this server emulator

Problem here is the socket is not listening on any interface , I
guess host OS is not allowing to allocate these ports. and morover i
am confused about port redirection concepts of android

i would like to know following stuffs,

1. Will the above server code work for android without specifically
binding to any particular interface.(as SDK document states IP address
of emulator is different from that of development machine)

2 what could be the other reasons for this particular problem.

3. what is the procedure to finding free ports on Windows XP
machine.

Thanks

 Have you added the permission to your AndroidManifest.xml?  Something
 like:

     uses-permission android:name=android.permission.INTERNET /

[android-developers] confusion in networking concepts of android

2008-12-02 Thread sal

Hi All,

Can someone help in resolving networking concepts in android.

I am trying to write simple client/server application on android where
client and server are on 2 different host machines. i am trying to
make server listen on some port e.g , but i cant see any port on
host machine in listening mode. can anyone say what might be the
actual problem ?? i am bit confused with differences in emulator
interface and host machine interface.

1. If we listen on a port # , on a android emulator , wheather
it actually listens on port of host machine or does emulator has
its own set of ports ???

2. Does emulator has separate IP interface which is different from
interface of  host machine ???

Thanks

 Sal,

 Just figured I'd post this here since it might become relevant for
 you. If you come across the error:

 12-01 18:27:52.175: WARN/System.err(764):
 java.net.UnknownHostException: Host is unresolved:www.strazzere.com:80

 This exception was thrown whenever .connect() or .getOutputStream()
 where called.

 Obviouslywww.strazzere.comis just an example, but you might find
 that a known and resolvable host is getting the exception thrown, the
 trick is to restart the emulator. It seems to lose something if you
 change network connections or go in/come out of hibernation mode.

 Sorry if this seems off topic, but I wasn't able to find a solution to
 my problem yesterday so I figured I'd post this here!

 Best of luck,
