Re: [android-developers] implement onscroll change for horizontal scrollview ?

2013-11-21 Thread vinay kumar
it can be achieved in you activity class.

1) get the reference of CustomHorizontalView
2)  then it's child view.
3) in onWindowFoucs get width of CustomHorizotalView and child view.
4) and calculate the proportion of result value of above width and
horizontal length of scroll.
5) pass the resultant value to seek bar.

Re: [android-developers] how to fire intent when net is connected

2013-07-03 Thread vinay kumar
Hi Sadhna,

>>> To fire an Intent when net is connected

You might need to consider using a BroadcastReceiver for
android.net.conn.CONNECTIVITY_CHANGE instead.

>>> To send an email when ever the net is connected.

Probably you want to send the email without user interaction.
This can't be achieved with android Intent which need user interaction
before sending the email.

Why do you require the similar widget, could you please specify your
requirement. If really you want to draw a horizontal line then Nobu's
solution would be perfect for that.

Re: [android-developers] Re: Image background (not 9-patch) for an AppWidget

2012-12-05 Thread vinay kumar
Hi,

They are number of solution available online but one of them is to recreate
a your bitmap with rounded corners.

public static Bitmap getRoundedCornerBitmap(Bitmap bitmap, int pixels) {
Bitmap output = Bitmap.createBitmap(bitmap.getWidth(), bitmap
.getHeight(), Config.ARGB_);
Canvas canvas = new Canvas(output);

final int color = 0xff424242;
final Paint paint = new Paint();
final Rect rect = new Rect(0, 0, bitmap.getWidth(),
bitmap.getHeight());
final RectF rectF = new RectF(rect);
final float roundPx = pixels;

paint.setAntiAlias(true);
canvas.drawARGB(0, 0, 0, 0);
paint.setColor(color);
canvas.drawRoundRect(rectF, roundPx, roundPx, paint);

paint.setXfermode(new PorterDuffXfermode(Mode.SRC_IN));
canvas.drawBitmap(bitmap, rect, rect, paint);

return output;
}

Hope this helps!

[android-developers] GCM Push Notification on ICW and Jelly Bean

2012-10-09 Thread vinay kumar
Hi Everyone,

I facing the issue with GCM push notification, for integrating push in my
application I followed each and every step mentioned at
http://developer.android.com/guide/google/gcm/index.html. It is working
fine on 2.3 and 3.0 devices but on 4.0 and 4.1 I haven't received the push
notification some times and some time after long waiting hours.

Does any body has any idea why on 4.0 and 4.1 taking so long to receive the
push. Please share your suggestion on this.

Thank You.

Re: [android-developers] Notifying the fragment when it is currently selected in a viewpager

2012-09-29 Thread vinay kumar
we can achieve that by creating interface.

e.g

*public* *class* SampleFragment *extends* ListFragment {

*private* OnItemSelectedListener listener;

*public* *interface* OnItemSelectedListener {

*public* void *onItemSelected*(int index);

}

*public* void *setOnItemSelectedListener*(OnItemSelectedListenerlistener
) {

*this*.listener = listener;

}

@Override

*public* void *onListItemClick*(ListView l, View v,

int position, long id) {

listener.*onItemSelected*(position);

}

Activity source code

*public* *class* MyActivity *extends* Activity

*implements* ItemFragment.OnItemSelectedListener {

@Override

*public* boolean *onCreate*(Bundle bundle) {

*// ...*

SampleFragment item = *new* *SampleFragment*();

item.*setOnItemSelectedListener*(*this*);

*// ...*

}

*public* void *onItemSelected*(int index) {

*// ...*

}

*// ...*

}

Hope this snippet helps you. Good Luck

Re: [android-developers] Android resource qualifier

2012-09-28 Thread vinay kumar
I checked for xdpi and ydpi values on my device call following method in
oncreate method.

 DisplayMetrics metrics = new DisplayMetrics();
  getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay().getMetrics(metrics);

 metrics.xdpi;>  239.05882
 metrics.ydpi;>  243.72585
 metrics.density; -->  1.5
 metrics.densityDpi; ---> 240

after getting those values I simple rename my resource value directory name
to "sw240dp", but result is same.. any other solution for this.

Thank you

Re: [android-developers] Android resource qualifier

2012-09-28 Thread vinay kumar
Hi there

According to
http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/resources/providing-resources.html,
sw480dp means «smallest side of screen must be at least 480 dp». Now dp is
a «pixel on a 160 dpi screen», so actual size of e.g. Xperia in dp would be
I guess 320 x 569 (provided it's a hdpi device).

To get device screen size in dp you need to know abstracted density class
(ldpi=120, mdpi=160, hdpi=240, xhdpi=320). For the above Xperia screen the
calculation is: (480*160/240) x (854*160/240), where 160 is the base
density (it's where 1 dp actually equal to one pixel) and 240 is device
abstracted density.

By using the above logic it should be sw320dp, But this logic also fails.

Thank you.

Hi,

I am unable to get the values form "values-sw480dp" on my sony Xperia
device which is 480 x 854 neither on Samsung galaxy tab which is 600 x
1024. But able to get on Motorola Xoom which is 1280 x 752.

e.g  res/values-sw480dp/strings.xml/

 hello world

The values on respective devices

Sony Xperia  * @2131034113*
Samsung  *@2131034113*

Can any one explain me this behavior, why Sony Xperia and Samsung has "*

Re: [android-developers] Timepicker AM/PM value issue

2012-09-24 Thread vinay kumar
Hi,

Instead of getting time in 24 hours format you can retrieve them in 12
hours. using the below code.

private TimePickerDialog.OnTimeSetListener myTimeSetListener
= new TimePickerDialog.OnTimeSetListener(){

//@Override
public void onTimeSet(TimePicker view, int hourOfDay, int
minute) {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
String converttime=null;
try{
String s = hourOfDay+":"+minute+":00";
DateFormat f1 = new SimpleDateFormat("hh:mm:ss");
Date d = f1.parse(s);
DateFormat f2 = new SimpleDateFormat("h:mm a");
converttime=f2.format(d).toLowerCase(); // "12:18am"
}catch(Exception e){

}

Toast.makeText(AndroidDatePicker.this, converttime,
Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
        }
};

Hope this helps you.

You can do the same in either of the ways By using addTextChangeListiner or
by defining your own function and check the validation when ever user try
to access the Edittext input

check the following links for more details.

2012-08-26 Thread vinay kumar
Hi sobia,

 Assuming you that your currently able to get the selected item from of
your spinner.

Under the same function call

startActivity(new Intent(current_class.this,calling_class.class))

instead of current_class.this you try calling the following methods.

getApplicationContext();

All the Best.

Re: [android-developers] Unique ID for Event In android Calender

2012-08-24 Thread vinay kumar
Right, event ID which we get from the above code is unique for every event
on Calender.

As you said "unique id through which we can update the particular(on the
basis of unique id) event in Android Calendar".
we can open the event using event_id with delete and edit option so that we
can update them.

Please put our question forward if any.

Regards
Vinay kumar

Hi Arun

Are you trying to extract the apk file or any other?

If you are trying to extract the signed apk file, then you need to use
AndroidTools > Export Signed application Package...

Re: [android-developers] Unique ID for Event In android Calender

2012-08-24 Thread vinay kumar
Hi,

You can use content resolver to get the event_ID and event_Details as well
please check the following code.

public class MyCalendar {

static Cursor cursor;
public static ArrayList eventID = new ArrayList();
public static ArrayList nameOfEvent = new ArrayList();
public static ArrayList startDates = new ArrayList();
public static ArrayList endDates = new ArrayList();
public static ArrayList descriptions = new ArrayList();
public static ArrayList location = new ArrayList();

public static void readCalendar(Context context) {
eventID.clear();
nameOfEvent.clear();
startDates.clear();
endDates.clear();
descriptions.clear();
location.clear();
ContentResolver contentResolver = context.getContentResolver();

// Fetch a list of all calendars synced with the device, their
display
// names and whether the
// user has them selected for display.

cursor = contentResolver
.query(Uri.parse("content://com.android.calendar/events"),
new String[] { "calendar_id", "title",
"description",
"dtstart", "dtend", "eventLocation" }, null,
null, null);

cursor.moveToFirst();
// fetching calendars name
String CNames[] = new String[cursor.getCount()];

// fetching calendars id
nameOfEvent.clear();
startDates.clear();
endDates.clear();
descriptions.clear();
location.clear();
for (int i = 0; i < CNames.length; i++) {

eventID.add(cursor.getLong(0));
nameOfEvent.add(cursor.getString(1));
if (cursor.getString(2) != null) {
descriptions.add(cursor.getString(2));
} else {
descriptions.add("");
}
startDates.add(getDate(Long.parseLong(cursor.getString(3;
endDates.add(getDate(Long.parseLong(cursor.getString(4;

if (cursor.getString(5) != null) {
location.add(cursor.getString(5));
} else {
location.add("");
}

CNames[i] = cursor.getString(1);
cursor.moveToNext();

}
// printData();
}

public static String getDate(long milliSeconds) {
SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat(
"dd/MM/ hh:mm:ss a");
Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance();
calendar.setTimeInMillis(milliSeconds);
return formatter.format(calendar.getTime());

[android-developers] PDF Viewer on Android device without thrid part Application.

2012-08-22 Thread Vinay Kumar
Hello,

I'm developing an application (Magazine Application only with PDF file) in
which PDF viewer functionality need to be integrate.

PDF file has the following data.

   - Text (Description).
   - Images (high resolution)
   - Internal links (to navigate from one page to other)
   - External links (need to open on browser)

Following features need to be implement.

   - PDF page thumbnails (to jump from one page to other on selection of
   page thumbnails)
   - Zoom (pinch and on double tap).

On my search regarding the PDF reader on android I came to know that
android does not provide inbuilt library to handle PDF. And I found many
third party API, apks, and even code (muPDF) which is not fulfill my
requirement.

Then how to achieve the same without third-party application and without
GNU based licensed library. Please I need you kind suggestion on this.

Thank You.
