The ALSA lib is used on Linux operating systems to provide sound capabilities and some generic drivers (see http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Main_Page), but I don't know what role does it play in Android nor if there is an API to access it, so I would also be curious as to what is the answer to your question. That's an underlying audio library whose presence or absence has no impact on the SDK APIs. Don't worry about it.
