[android-developers] Re: G1 linux
I forgot to add that accessing bluez directly is only possible from native code, which is not officially supported by official system images like the one on the G1. For "normal" applications, we provide a Java Bluetooth API wrapping bluez, but which currently covers only a small subset of the stack. Hopefully, this should expand progressively as time goes, though I have no ETA for new related features. [android-developers] Re: G1 linux
the Bluetooth stack used in Android is bluez, i.e. the same one than standard Linux distributions, if that can help. and, this just in, you may consider buying an unlocked and flashable Android developer device for your project. This is the same hardware than the G1 but will allow you to add any kind of native code to the system. see http://code.google.com/android/dev-devices.html hope this helps, On Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 3:22 PM, Rui Freitas <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hum, ok. If you're not wedded to the G1, you might consider the Openmoko Freerunner (http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Neo_FreeRunner), which has Bluetooth, Wifi and GPS and runs several Linux distributions, as well as Android. True, but if his phone has upgraded to RC30 yet, then he could get root access and install debian alongside android which is detailed here http://www.saurik.com/id/10. Another possibility would be to hope that Android is upgraded to allow access to the bluetooth hardware through the SDK. Then you could right a little java app to get the job done. [android-developers] Re: G1 linux
Thanks for your help. Well, iPhone doesn't support Bluetooth and i don't like windows mobile. I need to investigate the Symbian plataform, but i saw a couple of linux devices and i will probabably use them cause i'm more used to linux than Symbian plataform. Regards. [android-developers] Re: G1 linux
Then why don't you make if for Symbian/iPhone/Windows Mobile? They support bluetooth and Android will too, in a couple of months. Hacking bt in will render your app useless for other phones, and a system update could break your app. On Nov 19, 12:22 am, "Rui Freitas" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hum, ok. [android-developers] Re: G1 linux
Hum, ok. But what i am trying to do is some kind of API to work with the Bluetooth, cause i need to connect the G1 with some heart rate sensors via bluetooth. So if it is linux i can do it, but if not, i don't know how to do it. So i don't wanna make an application. Is this possible?
