T-Mobile sold me a G1 without a contract for $400. Once I had the phone I had to *fax* a copy of the invoice to their phone unlocking department, and they sent me a carrier unlock code within 24 hours (for free). So, other than root access and a pretty pattern on the back of the phone, I believe I have "more or less" an ADP for the same price as an ADP. I don't believe there is much price difference between a dev phone and a retail one at non contract price or contract price plus termination fee, question would be if you would be happy with a locked down phone though that is the most realistic test of applications. Considering there's been information regarding ADC2 for a few months now, I imagine the response would be something like "You probably should have purchased a phone more than two weeks before the deadline". No, it still does not ship directly to Norway. I got it shipped here through our US office. I guess Jetpak will work as well. Now, I've been getting a few mails from people having the same activation problem as I had so I figured I should post an update here. After lots of trials and errors I finally managed to activate the phone, but I had to use WLAN. To get that going you first need to install the USB driver for the phone and connect it to your computer. Run "adb devices" to verify that the device is connected correctly (HTC-something should show up under "List of devices attached"). Then run "adb shell" and "am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.settings/.Settings" from the shell prompt to get the WiFI- configuration screen up. Now configure your WIFI and activate the phone. Once you get that done you can go to Settings, Wireless controls->Mobile networks and register your SIM card on the mobile network! The APN settings I mentioned are correct (the only thing you need is to set "telenor" as apn name for Telenor). MMS doesn't seem to work, but I don't care. Good luck! Actually, if you are a T-Mobile customer, all you need to do is put in your own SIM card and it will work. There is no need to sign up for the 3G plan. There should have been a little peice of paper in your dev phone box explaining that you need to press menu, and setup an APN that is appropriate to your mobile phone carrier for where you live. Have you talked to someone that works with Telenor about the settings needed to use the network? Do you have a data plan with Telenor?
