[android-developers] Re: Option to unlock the boot loader for Sony Ericsson Android Gingerbread phones now available.

2016-10-01 Thread Stefan Hlustik
i used to have the same problem.

my advice is to root the phone, and use link2sd with a microsd card
which you divide in two partitions
one is for normal use, and the second partition is used with ext4 for
linking the apps.
( the files get moved to the second partition and only a link remains
in the internal memory )

when you use the pro version of link2sd you can link all files

kind regards

Stefan

2016-09-30 Thread Elvira Antal
Hi,

I see that it is an old thread, but maybe someone could help me. My problem
is that the internal memory of my xperia active is getting to be too small
for installing anything else beside the Google Play services app. How could
I instruct my device to use the micro sd card as internal memory? Do I need
to root my phone to do so? Is it possible? I'm a programmer, but I don't
have experience with android, could someone write step-by-step instructions
for me, please? I really love the original user interface with the great
four-corner menu, which is uncontinued in latest Sony mobiles. Is it
possible to keep the original software with this modification of the
storage method?

Thank you in advance,
Elvira

I heard that I can send it to your services to do it, but at your website,
the only way to do it is by see it as YES, it does not say how to do when
it says NO

2012-07-10 Thread txturtle
Dear Sony - I've followed the instructions a number of times, on three
different computers. Each time when i enter the unlock command, with my
code, I see three dots on the next line "..." and nothing else.

fastboot seems to hang at this point. I do not receive an error.

Any suggestions? Neo V (MT11a) with recent FOTA ICS update.

thanks.

Hello,

I am an Android Windows developer using Eclipse and I would like to
develop applications for my XPeria Active. Since to connect to it I
need to install the appropriate OEM USB driver...

Does anyone know if there is a compatible OEM USB driver from another
XPeria phone, as Sony hasn't yet released (apparently) any specific

Your help would be greatly appreciated,

[android-developers] Re: Option to unlock the boot loader for Sony Ericsson Android Gingerbread phones now available.

2011-10-19 Thread jsykes
Will it be possible to unlock phones that are currently not
unlockable? I really want to get root access, so I can load an ad
blocker, permissions controls and backup software, none of which will
work without root access.

I don't think that these apps are anything unusual, and I miss having
them on my SE Ray, having had them for some time on my previous
Android phone.

Will any future updates allow root access? It would be even better if
it were possible with a simple update direct from SE. If the update
process involved requesting a specific update, after submiting the
IMEI to SE, then using adb to push it to the phone. This would reduce
the number of requests to those of us who have the Android SDK and
would stop "normal" users from making a mess of things.

2011-10-18 Thread .kain
I'm trying to unlock my Xperia Arc's bootloader but I got stuck at
installing the USB driver.
I have installed the Android SDK and downloaded the modified inf file
(http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/downloadinf.zip), and when
trying to install it I get this error:

"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your
device
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error
while attempting to install it.
Android Bootloader Interface
The system cannot find the file specified."

I'm running 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate (Service pack 1).

How to proceed?

Thank you.

Hi

Just a few words from our side. We have listed the latest Sony
Ericsson Xperia smartphones and respective key press on

Some people reported difficulties getting the drivers right with
fastboot under Windows 7 and the XDA-developers community made the

[android-developers] Re: Option to unlock the boot loader for Sony Ericsson Android Gingerbread phones now available.

2011-09-09 Thread hatcyl
Sony Ericsson, I think we Verizon Xperia Play customers deserve an
explanation.

Quotes from http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/
We strongly recommend that standard users NOT unlock the boot loader,
as it is not needed. We are proud to deliver great phone experiences
through our rigorously tested and official software releases.
We don't have the option to disable the light sensor (err...), we
don't have the option to remap our gamepad keys (R button for camera
is just so obvious!), and we can't do a million things we can with
root. Reading the website is just insulting.
You should be aware that unlocking the boot loader will not give you
root access. The only way to get root access is to flash a custom ROM
with root access.
This is not true, a custom ROM is NOT necessary for ROOT.
It is currently not possible to unlock the boot loader for CDMA
phones. We are however working on this.
This is the worst one, what's the deal with this? We all know it is
possible, and someone just went out of their way to make it harder.

---

Despite all this, I will still give Sony Ericsson the benefit of the
doubt and hope they can give an explanation. Something tells me it's
Verizon that is pushing SE around.

2011-07-16 Thread Ryan A
Hello, Im sure you have been asked this question many times already but like
a lot of other Verizon CDMA Xperia Play owners, I am checking the web,
forums, and other places each day in hopes to finally see an unlock for our
bootloaders so root can be acheived. I am on my 3rd Xperia Play and am
having a very hard time enjoying this phone. My first 2 went defective with
different issues after a week or so. While the current "Play" that I am
using doesnt have any hardware issues like the others, the software
glitches, spotty wifi, and horrible lag makes it such a dissapointment and I
truly see so much potential. Without being able to unlock bootloader soon I
see no reason to keep this phone much longer. Im not alone. Please tell me I
can look forward to a solution soon?? Thanks, Ryan

Hi

We have seen in some forums that customers unlocking the boot loader
on their phones have experienced problems when they accept a FOTA
(Firmware upgrade Over The Air) update. The issue has been reproduced
and we are working on a solution. For customers that have unlocked the
boot loader - do not accept the Firmware upgrade OTA.

At the moment there is no turning back after unlocking the bootloader
which is clearly stated in the instructions.
However, we are looking into alternatives such as sharing information

[android-developers] Re: Option to unlock the boot loader for Sony Ericsson Android Gingerbread phones now available.

2011-04-20 Thread arjoon
Hi Carl,

Thanks for releasing the unlock to the bootloader. The primary
function of unlocking the bootloader of the new Xperia range of phones
was so that android devs could test create and innovate using the
impressive hardware of these phones. What I don't understand however,
is how we're supposed to do that without root access. All known ways
to root the phone have been unsuccessful on the Arc so far. I'm just
wondering what Sony Ericsson's vision and motivation is in unlocking
the bootloader. I'll admit that it is true, you did hear the devs
request to unlock the bootloader, but at the same time you've denied
root access!

Looking forward to your reply

Thanks for listening.

2011-04-20 Thread Renaud Lepage
Is it possible to get a list of the carriers that will have Bootloader-
Unlockable phones, or is it still a hit-and-miss?
