Position Summary

The Senior Database Administrator role works closely with engineering 
functional teams to ensure data integrity, availability and performance of 
critical database infrastructure. In this role you’ll be involved in the data 
pipeline process, deployment and management of DB servers, schema and table 
structures, best practices to ensure high availability and performance of 
critical data, and provide guidance and best practices to leadership and data 
consumers.





Specific Responsibilities include:

• Installation, configuration, administration and support of database 
solutions, including but not limited to MySQL, Postgres, Cloudera HaDoop, 
MongoDB, and Oracle

• Expert in understanding data structure and implementation of schemas, tables, 
partitions, indexes, views, stored procedures and triggers.

• Expert in data preparation, ingestion/ETL/pipelining process, extraction, 
SQL, PLSQL, noSQL, aggregations, client accessibility to DB (ODBC, JDBC, 
drivers, DB UIs)

• Create, maintain and ensure data integrity, availability, accessibility, 
security and monitoring of resources and data pipeline processes.

• Understands and recommends best practices for backup, disaster recovery, 
redundancy, upgrades, server & query performance, capacity and storage planning.

• Working knowledge of data warehousing, data lake and cloud deployments.

• Provides SQL query performance reviews and advises team on proper query best 
practices.

• Provides periodic training, feedback sessions, and reporting of DB usage, 
performance and future implementations.

• Maintains documentation of current implementation and data pipeline processes.

• Familiarity of Linux and Windows OS basic administration to support DB 
applications, features and functionality.

• Familiarity of scripting languages such as shell, python, java, R a plus.

• Working knowledge and experience of micro services, virtualization, AWS 
Kubernetes/ECS, Docker and serverless databases a plus.

• Experience in an Agile environment utilizing JIRA/Scrum a plus.

• Actively takes ownership of projects, issues, and day to day activities with 
minimal oversight and guidance.



Background & Competencies Required:

5+ years’ experience:

• Deploying and maintaining database solutions and maintaining data pipeline 
processes.

• Complex data manipulation, processing, ETL, retrieval, PLSQL, SQL query 
JOINs, Meta structure, schema and table deployments.

• Database monitoring and performance management such as proper partitioning, 
indexing, implementing stored procedures and triggers to semi-automate 
aggregations and DB management processes.



3+ years’ experience:

• Working with data warehousing, data lake, and cloud solutions.

• Working with Linux & Windows OS to perform basic administration of files and 
installations to support database features and functionality.



Other:

• Graduate in Computer Science with background in Wireless telecom will be a 
definite plus

• Demonstrated research and problem solving skills via prior work experience.

• Strong communication and documentation skills.

• Must have a strong work ethic, integrity and work extremely well in a team 
environment

• Must be able to perform duties in a group or individual capacity with minimal 
oversight or direction



Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions: The position requires the 
ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following 
environment:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be skilled in 
developing and maintaining good working relationships with all appropriate 
levels within and outside the company

• Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal more than 75% 
of work time in an office work environment

• Frequently works additional hours beyond normal schedule

• Performs work under time schedules and stresses which are normally periodic 
or cyclical and include time sensitive job stress, fatigue, unpaid over-time, 
intellectual challenge, constant technical data feedback, language barriers, 
and project management stress.

• Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids include PC’s, printers, etc. most 
often associated with office work area equipment

Looking for a candidate to lead the creation of cloud platform technology 
Framework, Cloud computing, automation. DR administration, automation, 
enterprise virtualization, AWS, Platform, , container management. Hands on 
agile devops and continuous integration. Terraform, Kubernetes Jenkins Kafka 
Github Puppet Chef and Ansible.

All candidates will be tested in their Terraform skillset

Additionally, the Cloud Architect Principal will be responsible for ensuring 
that critical cloud applications are designed and optimized for reliability, 
high availability and disaster recovery.

As a Cloud Architect Principal, you will perform a range of activities required 
to design, implement, maintain and continuously automate a large, complex 
cloud-based computing environment. In addition, you will provide technical 
guidance to team members and, when called upon, serve as a technical liaison 
between internal departments.

The ideal candidate is passionate about new technologies and architecture and 
keeps current with trends in the cloud platform and infrastructure space, while 
always searching for ways to improve our systems as technology evolves, with a 
steady eye towards the extensive regulatory/compliance demands on our company 
(e.g. CIS, NIST, etc).

Responsibilities

Serve as cloud architect principal by providing technical guidance to other 
team members for the design, implementation and support of new cloud platform 
architecture and automation technologies, as well as updates and maintenance of 
existing cloud and automation systems
Act as a Subject Matter Expert to the organization for cloud, automation, and 
end-to-end architecture for IaaS, PaaS and SaaS solutions
Work closely with other teams to develop and promote cloud-native application 
architectures (microservices, serverless, containers), and application 
development and operations practices
Maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, etc. and 
demonstrate forward thinking around how technology can support where the 
organization is going
Advocate and define cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective, 
including internal and external platforms, tools, and systems
Design, configure, implement and support a fully automated workflow for 
provisioning and maintaining a complex, highly available cloud environment 
using infrastructure as code
Develop and maintain a library of deployable, tested, and documented automation 
design scripts, processes, and procedures for deploying services to the cloud
Enable DevOps development activities and complex development tasks that will 
involve working with tools such as Docker, Kafka and container management 
systems.
Participate in cloud computing environment build-outs, software installation, 
maintenance and support, including but not limited to, patches, fixes, 
end-of-life preparation, and upgrades.
Assist in the development of technology roadmaps and end-of-life technology 
plans.
Implement production changes during defined maintenance windows and support on 
call rotation; Serve as a point of escalation within the team for production 
support issues
Provide technical guidance to junior team members
Review product work, including detailed code, from other team members for 
approval to deploy; provide technical feedback as needed
Provide technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an 
issue, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or 
escalation to service owners
Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, 
application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production 
deployment for cloud platform projects
Create and maintain documentation of architecture solutions, such as 
whitepapers, reference architectures, implementation diagrams, etc and relevant 
systems, procedures and processes.
Deliver technical solutions that solve for new levels of complexity, scale and 
performance, and in turn, enabling breakthrough innovations
Drive deep architectural discussions in a collaborative fashion to ensure 
solutions are designed for successful, automated deployment in the cloud
providing prescriptive guidance in addressing customer concerns and helping 
customers make decisions, enabling expansive use of the AWS platform.

Work with engineering team, product/business, service providers and third-party 
vendors across multiple locations • Ensure that project milestones are met in 
terms of features, Conduct integration of the end-to-end system using 
micro-services and cross-platform technologies (backend, frontend, integration 
with third-party vendors) • Implement features in the engineering team using 
Agile methods and tools • Actively participate in an integrated develops team 
and be responsible for overall setup • Debug Production issues raised by 
customers and customer support teams, isolate the cause and work towards a fix 
• Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria 
for obtaining results.

• Algorithm development, back-end automation, problem solving and scalability 
architecture



Background, Experience & Qualifications:

Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering • 5+ 
years of software development experience in a large scale Production 
environment • Experience with development, unit tests, integration tests, 
performance tests for backend micro-services with modern technologies including 
Javascript

Necessary Skills / Attributes:

• Ability to solve problems in a fast paced and dynamic environment with focus 
on maintaining high quality and standards • Able to communicate well in 
writing, through email and reports, or orally complex technical matters to an 
audience of equal or higher-level technical competency • • Strong understanding 
of databases, data structures and algorithms • Ability to deliver and accept 
feedback on code and design • Strong experience working in a Linux system • 
Strong ability to debug unfamiliar distributed architectures and isolate 
problems • Self-motivated

using C, C++, python, and perl. Further, its added advantage to be capable for
