Default TB theme, GTK theme: Aurora. My window manager is Awesome; I'm
not using KDE, Gnome, XFCE or any other full desktop environment.

Interesting.

How would I test this? What combination of TB theme and GTK theme are you
using?

I don't know much about themes (I'm happy with the default one), but it
seems they are pretty much like extensions: you can unzip them, edit the
install.rdf file and bump the maxVersion to something like "3.0.*",
recompress them, and then try to install them. (emacs users, you can of
course edit the file in the archive without having to unzip it first :))

Another note: extensions.checkUpdateSecurity is used to check if
extensions provide secure updates. To disable compatibility checks, you
should use extensions.checkCompatibility. According to [1], this should
work in Thunderbird as well as in Firefox.

Please keep in mind that I did not test what I'm suggesting here. Making
a backup of your TB profile first may be a very good idea :)

Thomas,

Thank you for all your effort. While we have you here, "How can I get
me themes to work in TB 3?" I can get all the firefox extensions to work with
extensions.checkUpdateSecurity=false, but that doesn't work with TB. Is the
change to 3.0 actually a change that makes the themes incompatible rather than
a security check issue?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Hi there,

I'm the maintainer of the enigmail package on AUR, and I've contributed
x86_64 builds of Enigmail since the 0.95.7 release.

The .xpi on the website is built using the AUR package, so both are good ;)

I have both Lightning and Enigmail too, but I have never encountered any
problem.

May this be related to a GTK theme or something like this?

Cheers,

I bet you have an i686 box. I think I'm bitten by the x86_64 problem. Because I too have
it as the #2 recommended addon, but after it downloads, it fails on install with the
"not compatible" message. I'll check the abs package.

If you go to Tools -> Addons, there will be a "Recommended" page. I just
scrolled down and Enigmail was #2 on the list.

How are you guys getting enigmail installed with TB 3.X? Every time I
try and install it, it tells me that it is incompatible with my version
of TB?? Are there '2' different enigmails at mozilla.org? (if so, I
haven't gone far enough down the list)

Magnus is 100% correct about the gnupg/pgp operation requiring enigmail.
I went through the default certificate config and confirmed there was no
way to make my gpg keys work. I'm glad to hear that enigmail will allow
integration again. (one I find the right one -- or once the package is

what about that? http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=28640

i'm not using enigmail so i don't know if is working or not.

It is required if you want to sign/encrypt emails using GnuPG/PGP, TB
can only handle certificate based sign/encrypt on its own.

Hello list,

After doing the last Thunderbird update from 3.0-1 to 3.0-2 (x86_64),
with the added Lightning add-on, my menus don't work very well [1]. If I
disable either Lightning or Enigmail they work, they just don't work
when the add-ons are loaded together.

I've started up Thunderbird from the console to see if I get any output
and enabled debug on Enigmail but apparently nothing goes wrong.
