Take a look at the Share ILL Wiki. www.shareill.org
There is a list of scanners knoown to work with Ariel.
If you try one that is not on the list and it works fine, please contribute the
information.

This sounds like you are reaching a queue limit which can be nasty.
Queue limits can be set/raised under Settings --> Preferences. The
default seems to be about 100.

as many documents as I can from all the queues >>and that usually works.

Re: [ARIE-L] Troubleshooting "Disk Full"

2010-03-02 Thread Jenn Morris
I found this in an old message to the list:

The disk full error usually indicates a firewall problem. Here's the
response from Ariel Support to a similar question back in 2003:

The error message "552...Disk Full" is a bit misleading. It actually has
nothing to do with hard disk or queue space.

"522 transfer aborted; disk full" error is a firewall error and is reported to
Ariel as disk full. So when Ariel displays this error, it's displaying what
it's told. The truth is, nobody's disk is full and either you or your
borrower are having a firewall error.

If you receive this error when trying to send to anyone outside of your
network, then it is likely on your side. If you can send to all but one or two
locations, it is probably on their side. The only real way to tell is by
looking at the firewall rules.

If it is on the sender's firewall, it is likely that port 422 is not open for
uninitiated inbound TCP traffic (this is assuming the sender has opted to use
Ariel Default Data Port 422). If the problem is on the receiving institution's
firewall, it is likely that port 422 is not open for outbound TCP traffic.
Either of these circumstances will yield Error 552.

Last Friday we successful sent out several ILL Docs via Ariel, but there
were three that did not leave the queue. Here's the log for one of
them:

02/26/10 15:18:41 Send failed for document ill 6312,552 Transfer
aborted: disk full.

02/26/10 15:18:23 Sending document ill 6312,150 File status okay.

02/26/10 15:18:23 Sending document ill 6312,200 Command okay.

02/26/10 15:18:23 Sending document ill 6312,200 Command okay.

02/26/10 15:18:23 Sending document ill 6312,200 Command okay.

02/26/10 15:18:23 Sending document ill 6312,230 User logged in,
proceed.

02/26/10 15:18:23 Sending document ill 6312,331 User name ok,
password required.

02/26/10 15:18:23 Sending document ill 6312,220 FTP ready.

02/26/10 15:18:23 Send started for document ill 6312 to
xxx.xxx.xxx.x. [IP address]

I have searched the list archives and have not found a definitive answer
other than it could be a firewall problem. Whose firewall? Ours or
theirs? Or it could be a "full disk" - but, our IT person says that's
not the case for us. He sent a request to Ariel Tech Support, but while
we wait for a reply, I thought I'd ask the List.

Has anyone successfully identified what this problem is? And if so, how
can we fix it? (Or, is it really "not our problem"?)

Thank you,

Judy
