Re: USPS
Sorry all for replying to the list like that. Thought it was an email from Bryan to me. That was embarrassing... Jason
Re: USPS
I have seen that the U.S. Postal Service still loses money (not secondhand; I've seen actual figures), but (unfortunately) cannot point out where I read it. So, consider this a "You're on the right track - don't stop now" kind of affirmation. Maybe Thomas Pynchon was on to something ... -JP >From: "Bryan Etzel" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: USPS >Date: Sun, 06 Jan 2002 02:12:07 > >In "The Machinery of Freedom" Friedman says that the Post Office loses >money >on 3rd class mail, while UPS and FedEx type companies make money on this >type of delivery. Re: USPS
I dont' know if this is still true. USPS certainly has cleaned up their act- delivery has become much faster(though not as fast as fed-ex) and prices are competitive. Whether they are making money or rely on gov't subsidy is in question. That they have a monopoly on first class mail is BS. Are you enjoying the book? Sorry I didn't make athens this weekend. Girlfriend had to get haircut today then was a bitch so I couldn't come up tonight. Will get your flybox to you sometime this week- I have to at least come up to pay rent. Check out the commie posts on stripersonline... Jason

RE: Price elasticity of telecom demand
The International Telecoms Union in Geneva did a study as to how much telephones are used country by country, it seems that usage had little to do with how much you charged (Latin countries tended to chat a lot, chilly North Europeans were pretty stum). -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Koushik Sekhar Sent: 05 January 2002 13:20 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Price elasticity of telecom demand Has anyone come across any study on the price elasticity of telecom demand ?
