Rahman courts Lata again Music giants to come together for song recording of Rang de Basanti Subhash K Jha The Nightingale is all set to create more history with A R Rahman. This week, she will record yet another song with the composer. It's a duet with Rahman for Rakeysh Mehra's Rang De Basanti. I'll be flying down to Chennai to record it. It's rare nowadays to get a good song. I'm glad Rahman has composed another tune for me. Lata Mangeshkar and A R Rahman came together for the first time for the evergreen Jiya jale in Mani Rathnam's Dil Se. Then they collaborated for a prayer-song in Boney Kapoor/Raj Santoshi's Pukar. It was a very special song because I sang it on screen myself, laughs Lataji softly. But I must admit Jiya jale was a very special song too. It became such a rage. And I'm asked to sing that song at every concert that I go to. She reminisces about the pleasure of singing for Rahman. I think he was a little intimidated by me when we did Jiya jale in Chennai. But he allowed me to do it my own way. And when I started humming an impromptu alaap at the end of the tune, he told me to just go on. He recorded that as well. Subsequently I recorded other songs with Rahman, including O paalan hare in Lagaan and Door kahin ek aam ki baghiya in Zubeida. Incidentally Lataji has worked with several new-generation composers, the youngest being Shamir Tandon for whom she recorded the chartbuster Kitne ajeeb rishte in Page 3. I like working with young composers. I feel they're uncomfortable with me. But that's more a mental block in them. I never behave like 'Lata Mangeshkar' with them never have. hi guys as we all know that p k mishra always did the worst job with rahman songs (except a few like roja) same thing happened with MUTHU MAHARAJA as well there are a few factors 1. The title of the movie itself is responsible for this becuase in north part of india this kind of name is not found and it looks very strange name. not one of the good words 2. The lyrics were so poor and of bad and cheap quality that the music could not do well for example there is this song KOI SAMJHADE, GHAR WALI KO BAS MAIN KAREN KAISE KOI BATLADE, KOI SAMJHADE, PYAR SE RAHEN KAISE BRAHCHARI BANKAR RAHNA NAHI . 3.
