[arr] Arr's Interview in BigFm - B'lore

2007-01-29 Thread Shwetha Signs
Thanks for the audio clip. Why Rahman's voice is not clear when compared to
those two compererers in the recent interview for Sajni in Big FM. Radio pple
cud ve done something to get his voice in clear sound. i was bit irritated,
when these two compererers repeatedly confusing that guy to answer which is
arr's 1st movie- roja or rdb? the way they did, cud even make him to answer rdb
!!! At the end he didn't get confused & answerd roja to win a worldspace radio.
He is lucky ;-)

Re: [arr] Pune to rock to the sounds of RAHMANIA 2007 !!

2007-01-29 Thread Amith Chandhran

Thanks Kaka, for posting this!

Friends, there is a minor change, 9422770453 and 9323975461 both numbers
will be with me.

Two days back I attended the rehearsals for some time, and believe me
friends, this is going to be a wonderful and memorable experience for
everyone. Recreating the perfect AR sound is really a mammoth task, and
moreover, when YOU recreate AR's music on your own, then you ONCE AGAIN
AGREE how genius he is!!

Fellow Rahmaniacs from places like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Nashik, Vadodara are
coming down to attend, so also expecting more members of this group to be
there to enjoy..

All set for Ghajini in Hindi

Finally, everything is set for director A R Murugadoss to commence
the Hindi version of his Ghajini starring Aamir Khan in the lead
role.

Sources close to the director say that the movie would kick off this
April and that it is titled the same in Hindi. Aamir Khan would
shoot for the movie in Chennai and the actor would deliver a couple
of dialogues in Tamil.

The movie would have music by A R Rahman. He replaces Harris
Jayaraj, who did the musical score for the original. Ravi K Chandran
handles the cinematography and stunts are by Kanal Kannan.

Ayesha Takia does the role enacted by Asin and Priyanka Chopra plays
Nayantara's role in the Hindi version.

Hello
I think u can look out for Altec Lancing 2.0. I dont remember the exact model
but i heard the sound. Its a monster u know with great clarity and astounding
performance. It comes with two small tower like speakers and one subwoofer. If
u can get ur hands into it it will be an asset. I costs around 4500 INR. Happy
hunting.

are Creative 2.1, 5.1 etc.. but the said model from Creative 2.0 called
Gigaworks T-20. I prefer to get this to get the best sound in 2.0 range models
as thats enough. But it is not available even in places like bangalore, bombay,
chennai etc. I know its very much available in singapore and the indian
distributors import creative multimedia spkrs from them and sell here with
ONE-YEAR WARRANTY & SERVICE but not this said model. Those who are here, please
check with your end & guide me where can i get this model in india with
warranty & service issues. If i swipe it from abroad i cannot claim warranty
here and the cost will also be more. Or if you are sure it wont be available in
india, kindly
suggest best branded multimedia speakers with only 2 speaker options (2.0)
equivalent to the above model & thats available in india. Thanks in advance.

IndiaGlitz [Friday, December 22, 2006] - Rahman and Yuvan to sing
together?

According to reliable sources, AR Rahman will sing along with Yuvan
Shankar Raja in Chennai 600028. It will be the title song of the film.

Grapevine has it that the producers and director of Chennai 600028 have
approached AR Rahman to sing the title song. As such, though professional
competitors, Yuvan Shankar Raja and AR Rahman are said to appreciate each
others music.

Since both are talented and unique in their own ways, it will sure be a
treat for music lovers if this news indeed turns true!!

Watch out for more news on Chennai-600028 everyday. An indiaglitz

[arr] Why all the "Ek Lo Ek Muft" bashing??????

2007-01-29 Thread Ajit
I can't believe all the bad comments reviewers and moviegoers are
expressing about that song. Ok, it's not the best composition in the
world, but the tune and rhythm is catchy and playful, rustic, folk.
It's very situational. This is what the PB reviewer has to say:

"Rehman is OK, although Rehman displays a flair for butchering Urdu
words when he sings. The one number which was sheer torture was "Ek
lo, ek muft"."

(Give Rahman a break dude for his singing.for a Tamilian who never
learned Urdu formally, I'd say Rahman's pronounciations are guite
admirable.and it's a fact that his so called "butchering" has
never had an effect on how popular his songs have become or how well
they are liked.cases in point..Yeh Jo Desh.Dil Se Re..)

Anyway, back to my original point. I think Rahman had high hopes for
this song to become popular once the film released, but I think the
opposite has happened. People are simply hating it, and I'm thinking
it's because of the placement of the song in the narrative and how it
was picturized more than the actual composition itself. Many thought
the song was totally out of synch.

[arr] In this year ARR will perform very well in TAMIL than HINDI

2007-01-29 Thread manaf cp
Lets hope so because ARR has only few projects hindi
this year. I think AKBAR JODHA will release this year.
Other projects like chamki chameli,
rockstar, lajjo, london dreams may not happen this year.
Where as in tamil he will have minimum three releases
this year. Sivaji, sakkarakkatti and ATM.

Ek Lo Ek Muft - NaahEk Bhi Nahi!*

[image: Download Guru
Wallpapers]Ever
since one had heard the song 'Ek Lo Ek Muft' when the audio of GURU was
released a few weeks back, it was quite apparent that it was the weakest
link of the album.

While majority of songs by A.R. Rahman were pleasant on ears and promised to
be popular (as they eventually did!) as days progressed, 'Ek Lo Ek Muft'
rendered by Bappi Lahiri was always the sore point in the film's soundtrack.

The only way it could have salvaged itself was through good choreography and
situational placement and one looked forward to the film's release to see if
that indeed was the case.

Sadly, while the song comes at just the wrong time when the film's drama is
at an all time high, it also has a glaring error of Abhishek Bachchan
projected as a young man when he was clearly shown as a man with a paunch
and white hair just a few moments back.

Overall the song just killed the narrative when it came in its full length
and if the film wouldn't have returned back to its brilliancy soon after,
one wonders how would have an impatient audience reacted to the song at that
time.

Though the song is titled 'Ek Lo Ek Muft', one strongly feels that nothing
of the song is retained in the second week of the film's run at the
theatres. Chopping it completely from the narrative would only make the film
tighter and consistently enjoyable!

together?

According to reliable sources, AR Rahman will sing along with Yuvan Shankar
Raja in Chennai 600028.

Global Rhythms set to rock Chennai

International music ensemble to perform at `Saarang' on January 25

cultural fest, that begins on Thursday. — Photo: S.S. Kumar

CHENNAI: When they come with the approval of music genius A.R. Rahman, you know
you are in for
quite a show.

Global Rhythms World Music Ensemble (GR), a U.S.-based ensemble of 150 members
and counting, is
in town for IIT Madras' annual cultural event `Saarang' 2007, where they will
be performing on
January 25.

The day before the concert, on Wednesday, the 13 GR members met at The Hindu
before a lunch
appointment with A.R.R. at The Shanghai Club.

Artists handpicked

Srinivas Krishnan, co-founder and director of the ensemble, said the artists
for the IIT
concert were handpicked to put up a show appropriate to the Indian audience.

The idea was to expose them to new instruments, music and musical cultures.

The line-up includes an assortment of percussion instruments.

Jeff Queen from GR is credited by his fellow members with developing Marching
Band percussions
into a solo art form.

Jeff explained that the Marching Bands, a big phenomenon in the U.S. with
almost every student
community having their own, had a military origin. He said he had incorporated
the percussive
element — snare drums, bass drums etc — into their repertoire.

The Chennai audience will also get an introduction to the oboe, a woodwind
musical instrument.

And then there's A.R.R. Sometimes, when new members join, they may not have
even heard of the
Indian music genius, said Krishnan. But Rahman epitomised everything their
music was about, he
said.

"We don't want to get pigeon-holed in genre. We do Latin jazz fusion, African,
Chinese and
Eastern European music, and Rahman's music is perfect for adding the cultural
element," he
said.

GR has done several stage shows with Rahman, including the 2003 Unity of Light
concert.

Choreography included

The ensemble has included choreography into their act. This again has an A.R.R.
connection
because they first experimented with the idea while performing his `Dol Dol'
number from
`Yuva'.

The Global Rhythms World Music Ensemble will perform at the IIT Madras' open
air theatre at 7
p.m. Entry is free.

[arr] ARR to score music for Ghajini Hindi Remake....

2007-01-29 Thread vino_09
Asin out, Ayesha in!By Moviebuzz | Monday, 29 January , 2007, 10:34
First the bad news - The `numero uno` Tamil actress Asin will not be the
heroine of Aamir Khan in the Hindi remake of Ghajini which will be
directed by A.J.Murugadoss.
Ayesha Takia who had done that super hit Telugu film Super opposite
Nagarjuna and the recent multi-starrer Salaam-E-Ishq is going to play
the role of Kalpana made memorable by Asin.
Allu Arjun (Brother-in-law of Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi ) is
producing the Hindi remake of Ghajini. Aamir Khan will do the lead role
of the guy suffering from short term memory loss, out to avenge the
death of his lover.
Murugadoss will be directing the Hindi version with A.R.Rahman's
music, camera by Ravi.K.Chandran and editing by Antony. The entire
technical crew of the film is from Kollywood and hence it was decided
that the cast should be from Bollywood! This was one of the reasons why
Asin lost out to Ayesha.
In fact Aamir Khan who had seen the original was all in awe of
Asin's performance and had recommended her strongly for the project.
A camera test was done in Chennai on her and another top actress from
south, but both failed to reach the expectations required for a Hindi
film heroine!
Immediately Ayesha Takia was flown in from Mumbai and after the camera
test, she was selected to do the coveted role of a middle-class, small
time model who becomes the sweetheart of a business tycoon. The buzz is
that a part of the film will be shot in Chennai city.
Sources close to the production house comments: "Ayesha has a
perfect blend of innocence and glamour and moreover her performance in
the recent Nagesh Kukunoor directed Dor had come in for lot of
appreciation."
The shoot for the untitled film (likely to be titled Ghajini itself)
will start from mid-April.

[arr] Bollywood film Guru opens the door to Indian movies

2007-01-29 Thread satish_srini
 TINA DEPKO

Lively conversation about the continued success of the Bollywood flick
Guru filled the air at a Brampton media screening Wednesday night.

Although it has been nearly two weeks since thousands of fans flooded
the streets around Toronto's Elgin Theatre for the film's world
premiere, Guru continues to bring in big box office dollars.

Guru is attracting major attention as the first Indian film to mark
its world-premiere in a Canadian city. It is also monumental for the
Bollywood biz as this is the first Indian movie to be picked up by a
major Canadian distributor.

Roger Nair, one of the people responsible for making this all happen,
was all smiles at the Brampton screening.

"It is overwhelming and it is beautiful," laughed the
Mississauga-based film distributor in an interview with The Brampton
Guardian. "I believe Canada is ready for this type of film. Canada is
actually very receptive to any good film."

Nair screens more than 800 Bollywood films each year. Guru came highly
recommended, predominantly because it is by renowned director Mani
Ratnam (Bombay, A Peck on the Cheek). Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya
Rai, two of India's hottest actors, give it star power, while
reputable composer A. R. Rahman (The Lord of the Rings musical)
provides the soundtrack.

However, it is really the storyline that convinced Nair to take the risk.

The Hindi-language movie traces the rise of a poor village boy to the
head of the most successful business in India. Add several song and
dance numbers and you have a powerful Bollywood film.

"It is a success story," Nair said. "Every time there is a
rags-to-riches story, you feel good and you can relate to that person
somehow or you want to be them."

Guru is currently running in 16 theatres across Canada. It is slated
to open in four more theatres in the coming weeks, including Halifax,
which is a major breakthrough, according to Nair.

"We're going to be opening this film in a locale where no Indian film
has ever opened," Nair exclaimed. "The East Coast is very white, but I
think it is going to make it there. It is very encouraging to see a
response like that."

Guru is among the highest grossing films in the world at the moment,
winning over fans from many different cultures.

Mayor Susan Fennell added herself to the growing fan club Wednesday
night after what was her first Bollywood experience.

"I have been around people involved in the Bollywood productions, but
this is the first time I've seen an entire movie," she told The
Guardian after the screening. "It was one of the best movies I've seen
in years. There was fun, laughing and dancing, and then there were
parts that were sad and moving. It was extraordinary and really fabulous."

Nair said Guru is a film that brings Canadians together.

"I was at a theatre in downtown Toronto the other day watching it, and
there were all age groups and it was beautiful," he recalled. "It is
just like when I go and watch good Hollywood films and see everybody
there-- you'll see Indian people, Chinese people, white people-- you
see everybody."

The Canadian distributor is currently in negotiations to bring as many
as five more Bollywood films to Canadian theatres in the near future,
possibly as early as April. He thinks Guru has opened the door for
Bollywood in this country.

"I foresee Canada becoming the next U.K.," he predicted. "In the U.K.,
our films usually hit the top five. I'm talking when you compare it
with Hollywood. In Germany, the Bollywood films are much bigger than
Hollywood films. I think Canada, on a whole, is a truly multicultural
society. We really appreciate anything that comes out of anywhere. We
are truly a global village."
