Hi guys,

I do not have any words to describe this piece. See how ARR has molded the
peppy number (barso re) into pathos one (as a BGM), just unimaginable.

ATTN: Kaissom or whoever it may be, we are waiting for the complete version
of HQ voiceless BGMs, once DVD releases. For the time being, check out this
guys.

Must agree, the tune is real nice.

RE: [arr] Re: ARR's songs butchered ? RAHMAN should go SOLO now !!!

2007-02-09 Thread Shiv Kanchi
karthik, you are absolutely right.

i will give you an incident to prove that a.r.rehman never copies someones
music.

in the south indian movie "NEW", actor and director s.j.suryah asked
A.R.Rehman to remix the "Thottal Poo Malarum" song with same tune(its a slow
classical song from old tamil movie).

But rehman strongly denied to do that, even that guy compuled him a lot to do
that. but finally rehmand refused. in stead of that, what rehman did for him to
satisfy was, he took the lyrics alone from that song. and created the fresh
tune for that lyrics and the main thing is, he presented that in melodious tune
with fast music. that song become mega mega hit in tamil.
its amazing. its possible only for rehman. the legend.

one more thing, see, the drum beat may be same for 2-5 seconds because how
can one present various variety sounds with single drum. but still rehman doing
that. your cousin should appreciate him. it will happen unknowingly by
a.r.rehman itself. even rahman will not hear anyother music directors music
since he started his career in music.
bcos he dont have time man. he have only his own time to create the magical
music. thats y hes taking enough(more) time to create music album. if hes
copying and doing then he will do 20-50 films per year.

whole world knowz this, if your cousin doesnot know this, we will not bother.

andrew llyod webber would not called him for bombay dreams if he felt rehman
is a copier

lord of the rings team would not called him if they felt rehman is a copier

rehmans 3 songs will not get nominated for oscars if they felt rehman is a
copier

my feelings are uncontrolable by hearing the words like this about a.r.rehman.

spike lee (director of "inside man" hollywood) and others only copying rehman
music.

rehman i love you, i love you forever, whoever whatever says about you i love
you.

you make us pride. i have a son,

i am the happiest man in the world if my son will grow like you.

Re:[arr]A humle request - (abt Mallus view unacceptable)

2007-02-09 Thread Shwetha Signs
Dear Krishnaraj & Shahi

Instead of having a one-sided judgement, why cannot it be in other way.
mr.Jesudas could have even refused couple of offers from mr. A.R.Rahman due to
mr.JDS's personal priorities & also of the fact he might want to see his son
mr.vijay in singing assuming mr.vijay is more interested & he is in a situation
to give way for his son. Till he is there in the field he cannot give
opportunities to his son.

If you take Mr.SPB it might be different case. If his son is not interested
in singing, mr.spb cannot compel him. So mr.spb need not bother & accept offers
whatever come his way. So there are super seniors (very aged wise) & seniors
(middle aged wise). No such problems for seniors - Mr.Hariharan Iyer & Madam
Chitra Chechi.

How long you want these super seniors to sing with a fact they cannot give it
in full what they were giving before and also upon regard for them, Music
Directors cannot instruct them as before with demands like time issues. Also
commanding super seniors to MDs expectation will not be the same ever after
certain period of time. It is like in India there are lot of senior citizens
who could get a job easily even after retirement to their level of
understanding & executing it easily but still hesitate to take it up for they
cannot accept their new seniors easily who will instruct them & give work to
them with a command.

Its better to maintain some understanding in distance instead of getting
bitter experiences between them & for both of them (Both - MDs & Super Senior
singers). Mr.Jesudas now would be more interested & happy to see his son
singing. He has passed the stage to accept offers. So many perspectives are
there when you think about an issue. First of all its the singers' decision.
Some senior singers would like to quit & some would like to be in touch with
few offers. Hope in each & every thing there are TWO SIDES & no need to come to
conclusions.

  Regards Shwetha

http://arrahmaniac.blogspot.com/2007/02/ismail-durbar-biggest-joker-around.html

It is generally the politicians who say one thing and shamefully take an
opposite stance suddenly. Now, it is Ismail Durbar, the composer of Devdas!

Here are some excerpts from his recent Hindustan Times
interview(Thanks to Mr.
Gopal, ARRFans for the scan):

"I call him (A.R.Rahman) Guru. He also respects me..."
"I remember he won at two different award functions; he went on to win for
Taal and Saathiya. See the humility in him... he called me through lyricist
Mehboob and said that I deserved both the awards (for Hum Dil De Chuke
Sanam and Devdas). That's why I respect him"

Now for a short flashback! This is what he said in a Rediff
interview,
about one-and-half years back:

"People have told me my work was better than Rahman's in Kisna. (ARR
composed 2 songs and ID composed 8 for Kisna)"
"My work has always been better than his . Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was
better than Taal. Even Devdas was better than Saathiya.
But it is destiny that he got international fame. Angrezo ne uska haath
pakad liya hai toh logo ko lagta hai ke yeh kuch zyada hi hai (Foreigners
encouraged him so people think he is very good).
I am not saying this because of jealousy. This is the bitter truth. Whenever
my work is good and he takes the awards, I feel bad.
I wonder why people run after name and fame, and not good work. Kyunki
hamare yahan bahut kum akal ke log hai (we have very few intelligent
people here). We see some foreigners holding someone's hand, and he
becomes a big man ."

Ah!! What a jerk!

i agree. according to me, mani utilized ARR's song well only till
alaipayuthey. kannathil, yuva were ok. singore, vidai kodu, baadal hua were
in background. now in guru, 2 songs were pushed to background and rest of
them were picturized for just half of the song.

i would add SHANKAR to the best director who picturizes ARR's songs list.
man he rocks! Ashutosh is very good too.

This is more the reason that I want RAHMAN to go totally solo. That
means, he should limit his movie assignments to select few like say

Rahman is now at such a stage in his career that he should do music

Ajit,
Agree with you about the music placement in Guru. On that note, I
think Mayya Mayya was nicely placed and used. But besides that, most
of the song in the movie seems to be a speedbump.

On the note of directors using Rahman's music effectively, other's
have been able to do that as well. Starting most recently, Rakesh
Mehra in RDB used Rahman's music amazingly well -- ALL songs were
perfectly placed and used. And travelling back, Subhash Ghai in Taal,
Ram Gopal Verma in Rangeela, Mani Ratnam in Yuva...were some of them
who did a great job with Rahman's music.

Personally, I would love for Farhan Aktar to work with Rahman,
ideally with Aamir in the movie, and Gulzar or Parsoon Joshi with the
lyrics. That would be my dream combo.
