[arr] Query Regarding 5.1 rahman songs
Hey Group mates, I have a query regarding 5.1 surround mp3 songs available in net from rahman's movies. I hope some of you guys might have come across those in arahman forum. can someone pls tell in wht respeect exactly is it different from the original arr soundtrack available in normal audio cd. Pls note that these 5.1 surround mp3 are not from the dts cds which were originally made by arr himself. Hmm.. ya.. Athiradi is really a best rocking song by rahman in recent years. But when Sivaji music released, lots of fans complained that songs have lots of cavity in it especially Style and Athiradi. Me too agree that, Rahman could have added more improvisation to the instrumentation, but he left them as it is becoz he wanted the album to be for Mass audience. Hi Friends, I guess this group is filled with extremely sensitive people.. I think SJB's comments dont have any relation absolutely to him liking rahman or him hating rahman. SJB has just expressed his love for Monty. What SJB has said? He has said that he doesnt need a person of Rahman's stature ( ie is a champion composer like our boss) to compose music. This implies that SJB has used our boss in a kind of superlative degree and not in derogative sense. Its like a cricket coach encouraging his key student by saying 'u are capabale of batting as well as tendulkar or bradman.' That statement is not meant to underrate Tendulkar or bradman but to encourage the student. That kid(monty) is composing for a big movie first time. Its natural for anyone to encourage him as much as possible. And in that context our boss was used so that monty gets encouraged the most. Hindsight its indirect compliment to our boss I guess.. Note: I am not a fan of SJB. I have not watched a single movie of that guy. But on this topic I just felt we were making so much of noise for no reason. Guru bakthi of us just overflowed a bit i guess :) Just my opinion..Please give some thoughts.. Hi Nithin These 5.1 MP3 songs that you are talking about are ripped from the DVD which have Dolby or DTS 5.1 sound.The basic difference between these MP3 5.1 songs and the original songs in an audio CD is that the MP3 5.1 songs have extra channels - 2 surrounds,1 center and one Low frequency channel (subwoofer). The audio CD only has 2 channels but the sound quality is better than these MP3 5.1 songs.MP3 is a lossy (compressed) format,so there is a loss in sound quality.While a audio CD has sound in a lossless format,so you get better sound quality. Also these DTS songs released on the net are ripped from DVDs don't have the sound quality of a commercially released DTS audio CD.This is because the DTS track in DVDs are encoded at a bitrate of around 768kbps while the commercial DTS audio CDs have a bitrate of 1411Kbps. So if your looking for the best 5.1 sound then DTS audio CDs and theatres with DTS/Digital sound are the best to experience them as they have higer bitrate audio when compared to DVDs. [arr] Hope ARR's stance on Om Shanti Om pays off
This issue has already been discussed when the news came out. Hope his stance leads to better rights for composers, who deserve better compensation IMO. Would like to see ARR do more commercial films with big star casts and known directors to help his overall popularity. Since Guru of last year, it's all been VS, SEL, and Pritam up North. Hi Nishant 5.1 MP3 (MP3 surround) sounds terrible than the normal stereo MP3 if you listen it in stereo sound system. you can only feel the difference of the MP3 surround if you listen to it in any 5.1 system with the proper output (speakers) itself. It is not a compressed format, those MP3 surround (5.1 MP3) actually squeeze out the extra channels from the normal MP3 (stereo), obviously it will sounds terrible if you listen to it in the normal stereo sound system or headphones (because there is only 2 channel outputs). You will sense that the normal audio CD / stereo MP3 sounds better, because all of the frequency of sound are encoded in those 2 channels only. Hi Kiruthika As you said it is great thing for Arr. In the last semi-finals of the show on sunday Band-Zinx entered as one of 3 finalists. I just wanted to share this band Zinx who also performed well in last episode of quarter finals has a good rapper. As credited by singer Vasundra das this is the youngest of all bands with school students. The CD Titled Tracked by Andy Findon has a compilation of 19 classics back from 1600's to date. And ARR has one in it. The CD listed 'Rahman' along with Vivaldi.. I searched further to confirm if it is ARRahman or some other Rahman and came out to be as our ARR. Track no.12 Rahman, A.R. I had posted about this some time ago. Andy Findon worked with ARR on Bombay
Dreams (he played live when the show was staged) and requested ARR to let him
include this track in the classical album he was planning.
