[arr]:Remembring Bangalore concert!!!

2007-11-22 Thread neetika raina

reminds me of the concert which happened around 2 years back in
bangalore!!!yeah..8th oct 2005!!how can i forget that day!!i saw God live...he
was at some distance but still i cud see him singing talking..just in
front!!gosh!!it was out of the world experience!!! but may b God was testing
our devotion..it started raining heavily..the back board on the stage fell..
and everything was pretty messed up!!show was delayed for more than an hr..we r
were getting restless but still had hope to see him just once.. coz of heavy
rain and wind..we all had lost the hope..i was in tears..cursing my fate!!!and
den someone from crowd shouted!!!hey see rahman on stage!!!and there he was
..wid his magical calm smile..as always..asking us to calm down..and giving the
assuarance that watever happens, he will definately play for us!!!

and yeah..he kept his word..he did play...and made us all crazy!!

the major power of his music was reflected by the fact...that inspite of the
bad rain!!(all of us were badly drenched) ..still noone moved from their seat
till he finished his performance!!!

i still remember ..he had to finish the show early coz of the heavy downpoar
again ..and he finished the show with vandematram...RAIN DROPSHIS
VOICE..and i was standing on the chair...singing with him...Gosh..i still get
goose bumps remmebring those moments!!!

and atlast he thanked us for being there... he was also amazed by his power
which was bounding us all together inspite of that heavy rain!!!

and i remember..after finishing off the show, wen ppl had started to move
back...he still stood at the stage staring at the ppl ...wid smile on his
face!!as if he is also showing his love..the same love we have for him..

i didnt want to leave..but the friend of mine, pulled my arm..as it was getting
very late, we were trying to find the exit in that muddy ground..in that
rain...crowded wid ppl..
but my eyes were still on him...till he went back stage!!!

it was an amazing feeling!!!i can never forget those eyes ..those smile
as if he gave an acknlgment...that he loves us the same

Cool covers. I wish the Music companies realise the potential of BGMs
and release them. We fans do it. They can very well do it. Very narrow
minded corporates indeed.

Rahman has covered the entire world almost through concerts, though
his music has reached even further.

A quick question - has any other artist given concerts across such geographies?

May be this is a record by Rahman?

Can somebody with the information verify?

Thanks

For me Narumugaye does wonders and makes me go to another world. The
arrangement and orchestration of that song is far beyond words can
express and it was very well picturized too with the black and white
and color mixits one of the bets carnatic film scores and the
singing of Unni Krishnan and Bombay Jayashree is fantastic.Amazing
work.. too bad the movie wasn't well received but I think its one of
Rahmans and Maniratnams all time classics

Re: [arr] "Rahman - The Golden Age" ARR picks his Top 10 scores

2007-11-22 Thread arr pavan
Some other rahmaniac got dejected about ARR not mentioning more tamil hits.
Dude ! nothing wrong in ARR picking more hindi songs with few tamil songs. That
press which inteviewed him is from north. There is a saying, "Be Roman in Rome"
;) He cannot set his own rules as someone's guest. If same question is asked to
him in tamilnadu then most of his choice will have some great tamil numbers
with few hindi numbers. You guys need not take it seriously and being dejected
at it. There are many Rahmaniacs with their mother tongue in which ARR never
composed any songs in their languages.
Still they enjoy his music. Leaving tamil, hindi &

telugu, ARR just gave one each album in malayalam, kannada (re-use) and
marathi (dub) & one single in bengali. You have to realize lot of fans are
dreaming to see him give albums in their languages. It is unfortunate that
offers had to come from such producers. Atleast these fans are able to enjoy in
hindi as common. Whatever ARR does and wherever he is working, wish him the
best in good spirits. This way you need to find happiness. Dude ! Positive
vibration is a must, which will elevate them in happier moments and make their
surroundings pleasantble. Defeatism won't be nearing you at all in this kind of
approach.

has leaked aound the industry that AR Rehman has scored a fantastic
composition for the film's soundtrack.

Rehman, recently in concert in Delhi, even previewed the theme track of
Azeem-O-Shaan-Shahenshah, which was immediately received with a rave
response.

For throughout the first half of this year, the dominant soundtrack of
Bollywood was AR Rehman's score in Guru, with tracks like 'Barso Re', 'Maiya
Maiya', and 'Tere Bina' dominating the charts months after the film had
emerged a super hit at the box office. It is now expected the music of Jodha
Akbar will create a spectacular run on the audio billboards as well.

Jodha Akbar the film is set to release in January. It stars Aishwarya Rai
and Hrithik Roshan in primary roles.

RE: [arr] Listening to Iruvar after almost 10 years

2007-11-22 Thread sujith s kumar
Iruvar is Rahman's best film ever made. I haven't
come across a movie that surpasses its brilliance. I
have a DVD copy of it and God knows how many times i
have watched the movie. My mom scolds me asking how
many times i would watch this. For me it is a movie
to cherish for a lifetime. The best song, according
to me, would be Poo Kodiyin.First of all it is
sung by P Suseela's daughter (Wonder whr she
disappeared)... it sounded very much like Suseela
amma. And the lyrics by Vairamuthu is simple yet
lovely. This undoubtedly is among the best
composition of A R Rahman.

Re: [arr] Which album is ARR excited about?

2007-11-22 Thread up84mouli
Hi all,

ADA was renamed KAZAN (or KHAZAN) and that name with some detail is
still available through IMDB website.

It is said that Rahman recorded 9 tracks "on the trot" for the first
time ever... Donno if it is still to be believed.

I have searched and asked for it before 3 or 4 years in many websites
and posts and never ever recieved an encouraging reply. The wait
...hmm... might be over!!

Another thing I want to know: Whatever happened to the RAHMAN 3D
concert DVD releases?? Will it be released?? Can someone close to
Rahman please ask him and get a confirmation for the benefit of all of
us group members??

Anyways, nice to know that the next year is gonna be a great one for
Rahman with so many great projects set for release!

Thanks and kind regards.
Chandra.

[arr] Rahman rocks in Delhi

2007-11-22 Thread Thulasi Ram
http://www.indiaenews.com/bollywood/20071118/81250.htm

He came, he sang, he conquered. Music maestro A.R. Rahman spun a web of
magic over his audience as he sang some of his all-time popular
compositions, including 'Khalbali' and 'Pathshala', at his first concert in
the capital.

Although the open-air venue at Rajouri Garden in west Delhi was not packed
Saturday, thanks to the steep ticket prices (Rs.500-Rs.5,000 per ticket),
for the ones who were present it was an evening to remember.

Rahman, dressed in a white sherwani, dominated the grand stage, which had
LCD screens flanking both wings, scores of steps leading up to a tiny
balcony on one side and was lit up by multi coloured lights.

'I hope you enjoy the concert,' Rahman said as he started rolling out one
song after the other leaving the audience spellbound and screaming for more.

>From classics such as 'Roja' of the movie 'Roja' and 'Kehna hi kya' from
'Bombay' to more recent hits like 'Khalbali' from the movie 'Rang de
Basanti' and 'Barso re Megha' from 'Guru', and hit numbers of the
blockbuster 'Sivaji' to a musical score from the yet-to-be-released 'Jodha
Akbar', the audience was treated to a delicious musical fare.

Accompanying Rahman were other singers like the pony-tailed Hariharan,
Chitra, Madhushree, Sadhna Sargam and Delhi's own boy Kailash Kher, who have
rendered their voices to his compositions in the movies.

Ace drummer Sivamani enthralled the audience with his marathon-drumming
spell.

With the sets changing with each song and scores of dancers performing
alongside the crooning maestros, more glitter was added to the show.

Mid way through the performance, Rahman changed into a dull purple kurta and
sat on the piano to perform his English number 'Pray for me brother', a
melodious song that asks people to fight poverty.

'I hope you will support me in my fight against poverty,' Rahman said.

He also launched a set of colouring books in the occasion the proceeds of
which will go to his foundation that works for humanitarian causes.

As Hariharan sang 'Bharat humko jaan se pyara hai', the crowd stood and
cheered, passing the verdict that the three-hour musical evening was a hit.

[arr] ARR -reaction to criticism

2007-11-22 Thread Vithur
http://www.indiaglitz.com/channels/tamil/article/34802.html

Rahman's reaction to criticisms
 IndiaGlitz [Thursday, November 22, 2007]

A.R. Rahman, the music wizard of India, has denied the charge that he has
been declining the offers for small budget movies. "Chakkara Katti is a
small budget movie with full of new comers. I am doing music for the movie",
said Rahman while meeting the media persons at the end of his concert held
in New Delhi last week. The criterion is the time involved in each project,
clarified the genius.

He also defended the choice of singers. Some critics use to blame Rahman for
his "excessive usage" of north Indian singers for Tamil songs. All that he
had to say was, "I go by the need of the song. I choose singers
accordingly".

He shared his concern over the depth of the knowledge of the newcomers. "We
see many newcomers but some of them think that it is enough if they know to
play the keyboard. They don't know how to play other instruments. This
situation is a cause for concern and this should change", was his reflection
of the current scenario.

We hope that the aspirants would pay heed to the advice by the maestro.

Dear Friends,

Recently i saw an Interview with Mr. Ouseppachan (Malayalam Music director).
He is a person who goes with the current trend. Our Rahmanji has contributed
his keyboard skills to Ousepachan's songs. A song "Maayaatha Marivillu" from
the movie "Ulladakkam" which stars Mohanlal has a keyboard bit from Rahmanji.
Mr. Ousepachan says that at that period only Rahmanji could deliver such kind
of music with the Keyboard.

At that age itself Rahmanji was exceptional from all the others. Kudos to his
skills which has revolutionised the Music Industry.

Here is the rest of the comment -

Re: [arr] Sultan -> More Info : Pls Translate

2007-11-22 Thread Nithin Sujathan
Thanks a lot Vithur for your translation. :-)

Vithur <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: The english Version is as below :-

To break the record created by Sivaji, the forthcoming movie Sultan is going
to be screened in 1200 theatres. After the world record in collection created
by Sivaji, this is going to be Rajnikanth's next movie. Rajni is donning the
role of Sultan who happened to rule India once upon a time. Being a historic
film, Rajni's daughter has been taking extra care in drafting the film.

A.R.Rahman is scoring the music for the film, and the initial part of shooting
happened in Brazil, Belgium, Germany, America for six weeks. The initial acting
was done by Rajni, upon which the animation is being carried out in Ocher
Studios ( Rajni's daughter Studios ). Now, the final part of shooting is being
carried out. Rajni has been impressed by the way the film has been directed,
and has given 20 days of call sheet for the remaining part of the film.

Soundarya speaking about the film says " Her father has been quite happy about
the scenes that have already been shot till date. His father has been
motivating her right from the beginning abt the film, and shooting. One can see
her father in a more youthful and stylish form in the movie ".

The Trailer of Sultan which is being shown everywhere has been welcomed
everywhere. The same sort of treatment is expected for the entire movie. In the
history of Indian Entertainment, this is the first time, that a Super Star
animated film is being shot and prepared. The final bit of shooting is on
progress , and will be shot entirel in Chennai.

The cut-outs for the film is being raised at AVM Studios, and Prasad studios
in Chennai. The climax fight scene woudl be picturised similar to the Lord of
the Rings. ARR has already composed six songs for the movie, which also
includes a special Introductory song.

Soundarya has planned to release the film for April 14th ( Tamil new years Day
) . It is expected to beat Sivaji's records, and the trailer is already being
shown in more than 1200 theatres, all across the globe.

I think music is never being wasted specilally created by Rahman we
are listeners...we are not here to check whether it fits to movie or not. For
me (like non tamilian) most of the times we are not able to watch these Tamil
moviesbut we enjoy the music to the fullest... so for a bigger audience
music is never a wastage.   Also how many of us are fortunate enough
to watch "Bombay Dreams"? Mostly none. But we all are enjoying the
music so it doesn't matter whether the music used in "Bombay Dreams" is
wastage or not. Just enjoy the magic/music created by Rahman.   Arijit

Sai wrote: If you didnt like the movie, its your problem. ARR
gives the music for the film, and does the re-recording. After that, the
movie is solely in the hands of the director and others. The failure of a
movie AT THE BOX OFFICE does not mean they have devalued Rahman's music. In
ATM's case, its purely the case of the fans not accepting its hero in such a
different film.Movie is not a flop. It will break even. May be in terms of
expectation (of the movie, not the music), it could be termed a failure.
