This sounds bogus. I have never heard that claim that Sukhwinder
composed Rahman's songs. Sukhwinder pats himself on the back pretty
good too by saying that he "Rahman is the same WITHOUT ME". Rahman
is Rahman with or without any singer. I do like Sukhwinder and his

[arr] [Semi ARR] Rival Robots

2007-12-10 Thread satish_srini
Apparently, Aamir Khan is all set to play the lead in South director
Shankar's sci-fi, Robot.

If sources are to be believed, Shankar met Aamir a few days ago.
Aamir is interested, and Shankar is busy with the film's pre-
production. However, it is still not known if Aamir will produce the
film as well, or Shankar will rope in some other producer.

There was a lot of talk about Shah Rukh Khan doing the film under his
banner, Red Chillies Entertainment. However, due to creative
differences between SRK and Shankar, the two decided to part ways
amicably.

SRK had admitted, "Shankar and I were not happy with a few things;
his take on the film was completely different from mine. We had
worked very hard on the film and it is sad that we had to call it
off."

Aamir will play a scientist who creates a robot with whom his
physically challenged child can play with. However, things turn bad
when the robot begins to kill people. Aamir then has to terminate his
state-of-the-art invention.

When Shankar was doing the film with SRK, the latter was said to be
in favour of Hrithik Roshan essaying the robot's role. But as Hrithik
is busy with his other commitments and now Aamir being a part of the
film, things may not fall in the same place. Who will play the robot
in the film is yet to be finalised. Incidentally, John Abraham and
Upen Patel had also been considered to play the robot when SRK was in
talks with Shankar.

[arr] Sukhwinder on Rahman ...

2007-12-10 Thread Anil Nair

Part of it (excerpt below)sounds a little high-handed

"When it comes to his respect for A R Rahman, Sukhwinder maintains that
he still considers Rahman his mentor. Then why did he stop working with
him ? "Rahman gave me a platform to showcase my talent. But when I was
working with him, everyone said it was me who was composing majority of
the tracks, not Rahman. That's when I moved out of his camp without
telling him, since I wanted people to realise that Rahman is the same
even without me. But I'm working with him again in Subhash Ghai's
Yuvraj and we've just finished a world tour. "

[arr] Once again.......track listing and song crecits for JA?

2007-12-10 Thread Chord
This is not something I expect with each ARR release. Knowing the
track titles and singer credits before an audio release is a bonus.
Last year, the track titles and singer credits were known 1.5 to 2
weeks before the Guru audio was out and it made for a heightened
anticipatory period up to the release. I guess it depends on each
release, the people, the music company, etc. JA is supposed to
release on the 18th, next week, and was hoping that the credits and
titles could be seen prior. If not, well, it's just another week to
wait.

from his previous work... thats what his music is
all about all time fresh but you can recongnize his
music even then. I was never disappointed with RDB
and GURURDB bieng my one of the most FV8

trailer music of JA i m blown away with his brilliant
music and can't wait to listen all the tracks in a go

*A Bollywood superstar is backing Birmingham's bid to become European
Capital of Culture in 2008.*

Madras maestro AR Rahman - possibly the biggest name in the Indian music
industry - is teaming up with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Rahman has achieved superstar status through his Bollywood music, and is
reported to be the world's biggest selling living artist - with album sales
of more than 40 million - and many more tapes of film music sold.

His first major work outside India was for Lord Lloyd-Webber, writing the
score for the West End musical Bollywood Dreams - which is now set to open
on Broadway.

The creator of many top West End musicals said: "AR Rahman is nothing short
of a melodic genius."

He was in Birmingham on Thursday to promote his partnership with the CBSO.

Rahman will conduct for the CBSO and will compose a new orchestral piece for
the orchestra to receive its world premiere next summer.

The new orchestral work will be based on "The Conference of the Birds", an
Asian classic by the 12th Century poet Farid ud-Din Attar from Nishapur.

There will also be projects involving young people in a continuing
collaboration with the CBSO and mac arts centre over a number of years.

*'Large following internationally'*

"Birmingham has an excellent reputation as a multi-cultural city and the
CBSO is one of the world's best orchestras.

"Symphony Hall too is a fantastic place. I am thrilled to be working here,"
said Rahman.

CBSO chief executive Stephen Maddock said: "We have a long tradition of
working with the most exciting composers and musicians of our day.

"It's a particular thrill to be working with AR Rahman who has such a large
following internationally."

I can't wait until Dec 19th for the soundtrack's release!!! If the
soundtrack comes to anywhere near the quality of Subash Chandra Bose or
Swades, I'll be happy, though I can an inkling that this will even beat
those!

Re: [arr] Re: Another big Rahman release (JA).......your expectations?

2007-12-10 Thread Mohamed Amin
Hi all,

basically we must not have any expectations at all. As ARRs music varies from
movie to movie and all based on the compulsions of the story. So, ARR knows
best on what form of music will suit. Let us stop our expectations and enjoy
the music when released so that we dont have any disappointment with us. As we
all know ARR surprises us with each and every release. Hence we will wait for
the music to be release and savour it.

  tks with regards,
Amin

[arr] Anyone close to ARR know if he's still working on "The Conference of the Birds"?

2007-12-10 Thread Chord
Heard something about it a while back, but not since. So wish Rahman
could do anothe private album of sorts, like Vande Mataram.'s so
capable of mesmerizing the world again through such an effort. We just
don't hear anything about these projects, which doesn't mean ARR's not
working on them. It would just be nice to get an update once in a
while, so that we can start "licking our musical chops"! Thanks.
