All this lyrics I can relate with my region Maharashtra like sadgudu (kabbadi), 
hand-hulled-rice(sadyacha bhaat), thrashing paddy (Malani chi jaga),  anjarai 
petti (masalyacha dabba) grinding stone (pata). 
Now the song became more intresting for me. This song portrays my native place 
only. wow !!!

I am just curious about one thing that what will be the hindi word for sadgudu 
sadgudu? 

Is tamil easy to learn? How do i start? I am searching one book which amith 
chandran has recommended me thats in marathi (Tamil Shika)
I think it will be easy to learn any language with help of our mothertounge. 
wht do u say?

LAHORE: Singer Amanat Ali will sing for Farah Khan in her new movie.

Talking to The Post via phone Amanat Ali said he would sing four songs
in renowned choreographer-cum-director Farah Khan's next movie.

The music would be given by A R Rehman and the cast of the film was
being finalized. He further said that he was working on his new album
in India and was planning on staying there for the time being.

In an exclusive interview with Times Now, AR Rehman , the music
maestro spoke about his first ever nomination as a Playback singer for
the 53rd Filmfare awards. Filmfare awards may crowd AR Rahman's
mantelpiece, but the 53rd Filmfare Awards will be extra special as he
has been nominated in the Best Playback Singer category for the first
time for Tere Bina from Mani Ratnam's Guru. 

Rehman will compete with the best in the industry. The other nominees
in the same category are:

K K - Aankhon Mein Teri (Om Shanti Om)
Shaan - Jab Se Tere Naina (Saawariya)
Sonu Nigam - Main Agar Kahoon (Om Shanti Om)
Sukhawinder Singh - Chak De (Chak De! India)

Times Now managed to find out the reticent musician's reaction on his
nomination. AR Rehman said, "Guru is not an ordinary film for me. It
is an extraordinary one.  I feel good that people are acknowledging me
as a good singer. I was not well when the song was recorded. So, it
sounded shaky. Filmfare has become almost like a home for me now. "

So, the question remains whether Rehman will have yet another award to
add to his collection. One will have to wait for February 24, 2008 to
find out who bags the coveted Best Singer Award.

see nothing so its a PAL/NTSC problem. I have mailed them in this regard:

My friend has also ordered from your website and has received his
package. He lives in the U.S. and he says it is unplayable. I am
guessing this is because of NTSC/PAL problem. If you are mailing a
product to U.S. and if you exclusively have a website for US where the
orders were made, then isn't it your responsibility to ensure that the
format be in NTSC? It might have been a problem with just his DVD,
awaiting your confirmation regarding this. Thanks for your time.

Proving once again that the golden levers of power in Bollywood are 
really behind the screen and not on it, the father-son team of Yash 
and Aditya Chopra have, for the third year in a row, come out at the 
top of the Filmfare Power List. 

The Filmfare Power 2007 survey was conducted by AC Nielsen-ORG MARG, 
the largest market research and information company in South Asia. 
Respondents included actors, technicians, financiers, distributors, 
exhibitors and photographers. The results have some major surprises 
and some rude shocks in store. 

Following the Chopras is Shah Rukh Khan, who maintained his No 2 
position, riding largely on the success of his home production Om 
Shanti Om and the Chopras' Chak De , the two biggest grossers of the 
last year. At No 3, in a surprise elevation is Akshay Kumar, who had 
not two but four hits in 2007 - Namastey London , Heyy Babyy , Bhool 
Bhulaiyya and Welcome . 

Amitabh Bachchan, No 3 last year, has slipped four notches to No 7, 
and is now only one ahead of his pretty daughter-in-law, Aishwarya 
Bachchan. Between Akshay and Amitabh is the solid bankable quotient - 
Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan and A R Rahman. Aishwarya, who leads 
among the heroines, has pipped Rani Mukerji, who is a hair's breadth 
below at No 9. 

Karan Johar may have sat the year out as far as film-making goes but 
his natty turn as television anchor in Koffee With Karan has won him 
the hamper at No 10, ousting in the process the more productive 
competition. Sanjay Leela Bhansali Saawariya and Vidhu Vinod Chopra 
Eklavya don't seem to have cut the mustard, with their lavish 
productions having failed to stir the box office. 

According to Filmfare, the criteria that decides the winners include 
factors like their box-office draw, their ability to generate funds 
for others, and their ability to call the shots no matter what. 

Which perhaps explains why Yash and Aditya Chopra, who gave the 
country an anthem of sorts of with Chak De India , were catapulted to 
top spot despite four damp squibs - Ta Ra Rum Pum, Jhoom Barabar 
Jhoom, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Aaja Nachle .

Incredible for a south based music director to be in the sixth most
powerful person position in a North/Hindi dominated bollywood industry
amidst directors, actors, etc.  ARR's music "cuts the crap" and speaks
for itself, powering its way into the hearts and minds of people
irrespective of man made boundaries and categories.  He beat Amitabh
Bacchan who is at number 7! 

If someone told you back in 1992 that in 2008, ARR would outrank AB in
 a power contest in bollywood, would you believe it?  The pied piper
from Chennai is and will be a force to reckon with for a long time to
come.

Not sure of UTV but AGPPL is definetly by arr. It has traces of Swades and
JA in it and Ashu would obviously want him to do that. Remember AGPPL theme
for swades? That was one of the bgms from the same movie.

that's really good. aamir is in form now. his presence and acting is
churning out good reviews almost instantly. though the story of ghajini is
conventional, the screenplay is terrific and m sure it will leave an
impression on the viewers. i have experienced it already. the director's
touch is great in the movie. needless to say that ARR will be at his best
with his BGM to elevate the mood of every scene immensely.
still i have to keep my finger's crossed to see how it vl be received by the
bollywood audience.

Aamir Khan's next release, after the blockbuster triumph of his directorial
debut venture, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, will be the Hindi remake of the Tamil
blockbuster, GHAJINI. As is known, Aamir is returning to full fledged action
after a long duration. And if our memory serves us right, it was for Vikram
Bhatt's GHULAM, way back in 1998.

Ever since the time of it's announcement, there has been a lot of curiosity
regarding the Hindi title of the GHAJINI remake, which is still without an
official one. But as usual, here is the latest on the subject. GHAJINI is
going to be called just that in Hindi also! This means that there will be no
renaming of the project, as per the current information.

While on the title, the obvious question that comes to mind is what exactly
GHAJINI means in Hindi? Well, there is no such word as GHAJINI in the Hindi
dictionary. Actually there is no word as GHAJINI in Tamil too!

However, knowing Aamir Khan we will not be surprised if just before the
release of the film, he will make public his / makers justification for the
strange title, and believe us, the reason given will be concrete!

Definitely.. .. Nosecond thoughts about it. After having watched some
really ordinary or belowaverage movies it was like a refresher. Most

He has met ARR on his Bday last year. That was the best day in his life. ARR

[arr] The JA soundtrack, before and after the Movie

Ok, so when I got my CD and transferred the tracks to my iPod, in the first 
week I was only listening to the JA album repeatedly which kind of boosted the 
number of repeats number for each of the tracks. Then when I got back to 
listening to all the songs in my iPod (ie the main playlist), unknowingly I 
would keep skipping tracks till I got to a JA track I wanted to listen to. I 
did this till last week and happened to check my 'Most Played' tracks playlist 
and right on top were Jashn-e-bahaara and In lamho (a very close second), 
followed by Thamil Thamila and a few other rahman gems and in the middle of a 
very long list were Kwaja and Azeem-o-shan and Manmohana was at the very bottom 
off the list because for some reason I found that quite difficult to like. 

Watched the movie on Saturday, and since then my listening patterns have taken 
a drastic change. When I checked my 'most played tracks' playlist this morning, 
Manmohana was there , right on top beating Jashn-e-bahaara and In lamho ke   
damon!!! I am unable to stop listening to these three tracks especially 
manmohana. I love the bit in the song that's been used as bgms in the movie! 
They are so soothing. For example in the scene where Akbar walks out of the 
pooja room just after the sindoor scene, completely smitten  by her. It's such 
a lovely piece. It's at 3.10 and 4.45 min in the track. I never thought 
Manmohana would end up being on top of my JA playlist or in fact my whole song 
collection! 

Being a staunch maniratnam fan , I've always felt that the mani-rahman combo is 
stronger than any other combo I've seen in indian cinema but I think I've 
realised now that Ashu-Rahman come a very close second to it and maybe on par. 
I was disappointed with the way Mani did Tere Bina. What a lovely song and what 
rubbish choreography. The song picturisation didn't help the song at all. I 
walked out of JA liking each and every song even more than I did before I got 
to the cinema. I don't think I could say the same about Guru. Of course I 
understand that Maniratnam's approach to cinema is slightly different (and 
personally, better) to that of Ashutosh but Tere Bina for me was a real let 
down. 
 
I've asked my friend to send me the JA tamil CD. It should reach me in the next 
3 days! I can't wait. I am really glad that Srinivas is singing 
Jashn-e-baharaa. I loved what he did with Ay Hairathe in tamil and was kind of 
hoping Rahman would use him for the equivalent of Jashn-e-bahaara and he has! 
YAY! Would be interesting to see what Karthik has done to In Lamho ke daman.
 
I think my concern is more about the lyrics than anything else. I just hope the 
emotions aren't compromised and that they've used a direct translation without 
trying to give it a new dimension because I just loved the hindi lyrics.They 
were so apt and pulled the right emotions.  Has anyone who's heard the tamil 
songs already have anything to say about the lyrics? have the lyricists 
preserved the original emotions of the songs?

Bollywood marquee thesps Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai gofor the slow, slow 
burn in costume romancer “Jodhaa Akbar,” aconnoisseur’s epic that relies more 
on character and dialogue than onbig battles and teeming extras. A return to 
form by writer-directorAshutosh Gowariker (”Lagaan”) after his sappy “Swades,” 
thiscross-cultural big-budgeter about a legendary romance between a 
Muslimemperor and a feisty Hindu princess opened pretty well in its firstframe 
Feb. 15. In the longer run, it looks to carve rosy, though notspectacular, 
returns.
Effectively a prequel to the 1960 classic “Mughal-e-azam,” centered ona romance 
between the couple’s son and a court dancer, “Jodhaa Akbar”is much more than 
just a preachy tale about religious tolerance betweenMuslims and Hindus. Along 
with scripters Haider Ali and K.P. Saxena,Gowariker has come up with a 
long-limbed story that is utterly simplein structure, but decorated with enough 
character interplay and sideplots to keep the movie ticking over to a powerful 
finale.
Clocking in at a mere 205 minutes, compared with the 223-minute
“Lagaan,” the movie lacks the latter’s narrative tautness, and could
benefit from trimming in the early stages of part one. But from the
first musical interlude a half-hour or so in, there’s little downtime,
despite the intimate nature of the material.
Solemnly narrated by veteran Amitabh Bachchan, pic’s intro sketches
the era, starting in the mid-15th century, when the Mughals (supposedly
descended from the Mongols) invaded India. After a succinctly staged
battle,resistance crumbles a century later and Mughal influence spreads
through northern India.

The first Mughal emperor to be born on Indian soil, Jalaluddin
Mohammad Akbar (Roshan), is a strong but tolerant guy. His arranged
marriage to Jodhaa (Rai)is meant to forge links with the Rajputs, the
dominant clan of northern India with a strong warrior tradition.
However, Jodhaa has two demands: She doesn’t have to convert to
Islam, and she can have a Hindu shrine in her quarters at the Mughal
palace in Agra. Jalaluddin admires her spunk and agrees; when, on their
wedding night, she says she needs more time before sharing a bed, he
agrees again.
Next two hours chart Jalaluddin’s patient “courting” of Jodhaa in
between various attempts by others to destroy the relationship and what
it symbolizes. Villains include Jalaluddin’s devoted but ambitious wet
nurse, Maham Anga (Ila Arun, wonderfully evil), Sharifuddin Hussain
(Nikitin Dheer), Jodhaa’s relative, who teams up with a snubbed Muslim
cleric (Abeer Abrar); and a corrupt governor (Shaji Chaudhary). But
aside from a manufactured misunderstanding between Jalaluddin and
Jodhaa that provides the pre-intermission climax, their growing bond
proves stronger than anything politics can throw at them.
Pic is bookended by well-staged setpieces in which opposing armies
face each other on a vast plain. Otherwise, Gowariker avoids military
spectacle, concentrating instead on sequences that define the central
relationship: the putative lovers dueling in a courtyard; Jalaluddin
identifying Jodhaa among a bevy of veiled women; their eventual,
elaborately choreographed declaration of love.
As well as managing the story’s epic span (and showing a natural
feel for framing his characters in widescreen), Gowariker seems to have
a liking for classic Hollywood epics. Parallels abound, the most
obvious being with “Cleopatra” and “The Fall of the Roman Empire.”
No stranger to elegant-cum-spunky costume role, Rai (here billed
under her married surname, Rai Bachchan) handles Jodhaa with ease.
Biggest surprise is Roshan, who brings a commanding physical presence
and vocal heft that he’s shown in none of his earlier,
standard-Bollyhunk roles.
Production values are lavish, with Neeta Lulla’s costumes
complemented by richly dressed locations in Rajasthan and northern
India. Typically rhythmic, percussive score by A.R. Rahman is stronger
in ceremonial setpieces than lyrical ones, though most of the songs are
not directly sung onscreen. CGI in the battle sequences is OK.

Given this black-and-white approach to storytelling, Ashutosh
could’ve further gone ahead with his artistic licence and dramatised
incidents or created fictional twists to make us see the miracle of
love and taken us on the rollercoaster of highs and lows.
For want of a serious conflict and drama (the greatest conflict in
the film is a silly misunderstanding that lasts all of the interval
block), Jodhaa Akbar ends up too

Kiran Deohans' swift but sublime cinematography is of international
calibre, at par with 'Gladiator' or 'Braveheart'. A.R. Rahman's music
is a bit of a letdown though. Veering between authenticity and
listener-friendliness, it's a bit of a mellow mishmash signifying
none of those enchanting echoes of Jodha and Akbar's ever-lasting
romanticism.

hi,
gr8 writeup dude ...would like to add something 
about the software(the hardware thing u said was greek and latin 4
me...and gr8 u had the guts to cut the wires of your system :0)
when i did the voiceless bgms for some(Alaipayuthey,Tenali,Rhythm(was
just 2 good!!!),Padiyaapa ,Minsara Kanavu) 
the basic funda as u said was to find a dvd ripper to convert it to a
audio format ...more specifically i converted the dvd vobs to ac3
files (which can store all the channels of the movie and the software
i used is now in the dumps..)and then use an ac3 to mp3
converter(i used a software called headac3h...i think!!!) by choosing
which channels i wanted to downmix(either surround or front
channels)the downmixing was a trial and error thing...
and i used the resources from this site to get me going...

Hi All,
I was just sitting at my balcony, i just saw the moon rising over trees. 
Suddenly 'In lamhon ke...' instruments started echoing in my mind.
This morning i was driving and jashn-e-bahara instrumentals kept on
haunting my mind the whole way.
When i am not listening to the CD, i still keep listening those songs 
from imaginary sources.
This never happened before the release of the movie.
It looks like Visual and Sound effects of the movie have combined together
and attacked on me badly.

Has anyone else been suffering from same decease.
What's the wayout?

Definitely Nosecond thoughts about it. After having watched some
really ordinary or belowaverage movies it was like a refresher. Most
of the movies lacked in alldepartments while some did have good things
in bits and pieces but none of themas a package, did impress me. I did
not have time to review the movie on myvacation. But to say in one
line, TZP had some very fine acting, a nice script,beautiful music and
good direction.
