[arr] Aamir Khan is totally upset with A.R. Rahman :-(
Aamir Khan is totally upset with A.R. Rahman A.R. Rahman is undoubtedly the biggest musical geniuses of today's times but he is also notorious for working at his own sluggish pace with his own set of terms and conditions. This has left many filmmakers who worked with him frustrated but yet they keep coming back to him because when it comes to high quality music, Rahman is second to none! But now his slow pace of delivering the goods has resulted in a delay in the release of 2008's most eagerly awaited film, Ghajini starring Aamir Khan along with newcomer Asin and Jiah Khan in the lead. A source revealed, The film was earlier scheduled to release on November 28th. Aamir Khan's leg injury made it difficult for the film to stick to its original release date of October 2nd. The preparations for releasing the film on November 28th had begun and as a first step the music of the film was to be released in mid-September. So for that Rahman had to deliver the master music track to the audio company (T-Series) by mid August. But, Rahman it is learnt clearly told them that he would require three morre weeks for the same. Now with this the makers had no option but to postpone the release of their film further ahead to December 26th! This didn't quiet go down well with Aamir Khan and even the makers of the film, but no one has confronted Rahman over this as of yet! Looks like Aamir hasn't got the chance to do the same. Wonder what happens when the big confrontation happens! http://www.santabanta.com/cinema.asp?pid=22242 -- regards, Vithur ARR -- The Sweet Cube always
[arr] A key factor in the film’s success is A R Rahman’s hit score
Abbas Tyrewala: Hottest director of 2008? Is it really a big hit in the UK? director Abbas Tyrewala asked me when I bumped into him and his wife at Delhi airport earlier this week and congratulated him on the success of his film 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na'. Abbas was blissfully unaware that his debut movie, a teen romcom starring the new kid on the block Imran Khan, is indeed one of the biggest blockbusters of 2008. A key factor in the film's success is A R Rahman's hit score which is the current rage in India. The single 'Pappu can't dance' has become a dance floor anthem and another single 'Kabhi Aditi' is the most popular mobile phone ringtone at the moment. Was the popular 'Pappu' number a take on Madonna's 'Pappa Don't Preach'? Abbas laughs: You know you are the first person to make this connection. But Pappu is someone who has got it all without trying. What's next for the talented director who has a fondness for wearing red trainers? My next film is an adult comedy. It is too early to say anything else. http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/film/bollywood/article4632671.ece -- regards, Vithur ARR -- The Sweet Cube always
[arr] “Try and do something which will make India and your institution proud,” A.R.Rahman told students
*Set on course for make-believe world, armed with dreams * Some of them view almost everything in terms of lighting and visual appeal, some of them chop off those unwanted, redundant, bits and some direct a team to have their idea implemented. For the 30 students who have just passed out of the L.V. Prasad Film and TV Academy completing their courses in cinematography, editing and sound design and direction, a new journey has begun. Emphasising the role of film makers as custodians of the conscience of society, he urged students to watch films, criticise them, celebrate them or even massacre them, but do not ignore them. You are now officially qualified to be married into the family of cinema. Your education, however, begins now, Mr. Balachander added. His speech, which evoked tears at the recent felicitation function for actor Aamir Khan, this time, evoked laughter and thunderous applause from the rapt audience. And like Aamir Khan did, noted music director A.R. Rahman promptly took the copy of his speech. Make India proud' Try and do something which will make India and your institution proud, A.R.Rahman told students http://www.hindu.com/2008/08/28/stories/2008082858510200.htm Thanks to Satish for telling me this news -- regards, Vithur ARR -- The Sweet Cube always

Also, for example I see Alleged to be inspired from the Osibisa number 'Kelele'. You decide, why to tell all the world that it is alleged to be inspired and why to let the reader decide when the owner himself could not decide or comment. And as much I remember this website is quite old, if I remember correctly I have visited it years ago (perhaps 7-8 years) and felt bad on it. Also we shall remember that an average reader, someone not a huge fan of ARR or someone not with good music sense, will take these all things as copied rather than inspired and etc and will not give much importance to the tune is original, only bits are copied. [arr] Roja's Rahman faded? Nah....Here is the Answer !
Roja's Rahman faded? NahHere is the Answer ! In one of the interviews, A.R.Rahman said that a composer who moulds his music that suits the idiosyncrasies and tastes of the audience belonging to that moment would be a failure in the long run but at the same time a composer who can mould his music to suit the contemporary audience as well as satisfy the old generations can definitely come out as a winner and will last for a long time ! and yu know what ! This is a widely acclaimed fact !!! Roja came in 1992, which was almost 16 years ago when there was an audience acclimatized to the classical music and folk. The sound of Roja was completely new...it was like a whiff of air for the audience used to those genre and accepted Roja which created waves in the music world and established a new horizon in composing music ! In Roja's music, Rahman explored various raagams like *Des, Kapi, Yaman Kalyani* which are purely carnaticthe mathruk of the song was the raaga but the flavour is something which is unheard ever beforeActually this is the basic mantra in analyzing Rahman's music and which demarcates his stature from the lot !! For example, Ilaiyaraja composes a song in *Kalyani*...he sticks to it throughout the songbut Rahman is totally different. If he starts a song with a raag he rarely sticks to itthe chain of raags keep on instigating in the song...for example, Kannamochi Yennada from Kandukondain Kandukondain starts with *Sudha Dhanyasi* and then flows to *Nattkurinji*and then deviates to *Lalitha*, then again yu hear some other thingwhich is totally an absurd to do in the books of a carnatic musician But thatz where his success liesand he stuck to that through out his career till date...Even in Ada, I can see a song(Hawa) which starts with *Hamsadhwani* and then shifts to *mishra Kalyani* ! One has to accept this coz ARR had redifined the barriers in the music school ! COURTESY :- RAGHAV -- regards, Vithur ARR -- The Sweet Cube always

Hello Ramesh babu. Brother, I m not abele to stop my self to reply u after reading ur message. There is nothing wrong if any Muslim feels proud for any other Muslim brother, if he is doing well and making his people and country proud. And the biggest thing we love about ARR is that he is a very good practicing Muslim, though he is so busy man but he has time for his Lord. Not all the Muslims r like him. I just love our Boss, not only because I m a muslim and he is a muslim, but also because he is the best and his music is out of this world. There r also other Muslim music directors like salim-suleman, Nadeem from nadeem-shravan duo, naushad, ismael darbar etc. Do we talk about them or do we praise them ? No because we don't love them and we r not here to talk about them. So please brother if any one is proud of ARR for any reason (there r so many) and expressing his feeling don't stop him. No offence ment.

[arr] Maya ravan by A.R.Rahman??
New twist: Ramayana with a new flavour Sam Daniel Friday, August,29 2008 (Chennai): Dancer and actress Shobana's Maya Ravan has wowed international audiences in 26 cities. Now Mumbai has got lucky. The city will witness it first in India. It's the tale of the Ramayana told through the eyes of Ravan with a fine blend of dance, music and drama. It's more about the emotional aspect of Ramayana. We don't show Ram as a total brave warrior. We show him with a lot of feel, lot of it which is not normally portrayed and we are showing Ravan not as a lecherous man, Shobana said. A R Rehman and Ganesh Kumaresh have scored the music. Many prominent voices including Naseeruddin Shah, Suhasini Maniratnam and Revathy have done the narration. Acclaimed for rich costumes, over 40 Bharathnatyam dancers are working hard to replicate their overseas success in Mumbai. Certainly, Maya Ravan has generated quite a buzz among art lovers

I am not a musilm, i still listen to Rahman sir's music. You friends should remember that religion has nothing to do with listening to music. To me all religion is one and the same. I along with my brother keep humming that music...Then came RANGEELA...i liked all the song Than my uncle borught an audio CD of a music director back in 1997 i heard HINDUSTANI tracks than...and MUSTAFA MUSTAFA...my uncle told me that music director is a muslim...,i am also muslim, so i felt a bond... came 1998 and DIL SE...that was the time when the name A R RAHMAN registered to my mind...my father died next year...but i heard DIL SE got award that year...then came TAAL ...another musical love for me...TAAL got award too... than a year went quit...and in 2000 came LAGAAN...i was hooked to the movie and music...i then start recongnizing A R RAHMAN's name..that it means beautiful music... it got award then...i figured RAHMAN got two consectyive award and than he should get consective award this time so the next best music will be from A R RAHMAN The next year i was coming from a marriage ceremony late night with my brother and mother in a bus...i heard a haunting flute music...i told my brother.. BELIEVE IT OR NOT IT'S A R RAHMAN's music...mano ya na mano yeh A R RAHMAN hai and the song turns out to be SAATHIYA... and since that day till now...and for ever i am a diehard A R RAHMAN fan...later i found out many favourite songs of mine were by A R RAHMAN...and he never dissapoints me...I m doing graduation in media production., .. i have dreams of revolutionizing pakistani cinema...and i hope and pray that i be able to get A R RAHMAN for my first movie...this is a dream but i will work hard to make it a reality...SO EVERY THING HAPPENED IN KARACHI --- On Wed, 8/27/08, bincemon geo bincemongeo@ gmail.com wrote: From: bincemon geo bincemongeo@ gmail.com Subject: Re: [arr] How I got hooked to Rahman's music My Story ! I will start with my story as how I got hooked to Rahman's music.. The year was 1993, probably Jan end. I had gone to Hyderabad for office work, had some spare time so met my family friends. They recommended me to see a Tamil movie which was the talk of the town in those days. The friend was at loss of words in describing the movie and how it was different and all that. I had seen quite a few Tamil / Telugu movies till then, thanks to our old DoorDarshan who used to telecast regional movies at 1.30PM every sunday. So I ventured out to see that movie. To: arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com Date: Saturday, August 30, 2008, 1:14 AM Hello Ramesh babu.
