[arr] A.R. Rahman’s songs the attraction !

2008-09-30 Thread rahmanfever

SAKKARAKATTI : A.R. Rahman's songs the attraction !

Directed by Kalaprabhu
Starring Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Ishita, Vedhika
JUST when you thought Tamil movie producers were moving away from
college romance and love triangles, they come up with another one.

Yes, Sakkarakatti deals with college love.

Boy (Shanthanu Bhagyaraj) meets girl (Ishita) in college. In between
comes Shanthanu's relative (Vedhika). There is jealousy and
misunderstanding between the lovers and the hero's friends come to
his rescue.

Why can't Tamil movie producers explore new themes? Is there is such
a shortage of stories? They could always adapt a Hollywood movie to suit
South Indian taste.
Saroja has done well at the box office, even though it was inspired by
Hollywood.

The draw to Sakkarakatti are A.R. Rahman's songs.

Almost all of them have become hits. Two songs used music from
Rahman's previous Hindi movies and four are new tunes.

The producers spent a lot on computer graphics for the songs
(conceptualised by Soundarya Rajinikanth's Ocher Studios).

But do people just watch a movie for the songs?

Shanthanu, son of character actor and scriptwriter Bhagyaraj, may sell
tickets.

Young Shanthanu had acted with his father in Vettiyei Madichukattu, a
flop for Bhagyaraj.

Sakkarakatti has been in production since 2006 and you can see how the
hero has grown in some scenes.

Two years ago, Bhagyaraj introduced his daughter Sharanya in Parijatam.

The director who made his movie debut then is son of Kalaipuli S. Dhanu,
the producer.

Vedhika, the other actress in Sakkarakatti, is more familiar to Tamil
film fans than the heroine Ishita.

Sakkarakatti - Senseless filmBanner: Prabhu
Story, screenplay, dialogues and Direction: Kalaprabhu
Star-casts: Shanthanu, Vedhika, Ishitha, Nizhalgal Ravi, Chittibabu and many
others
Music: A.R.Rahman
Don't know the perfect reason why debutant Kalaprabhu wanted to make a film
that has nothing new in it to praise. Not even a single attribute that makes us
feel this film is worth watching. Shame on the part of those so-called veterans
who stated that their sons have done a spellbinding job with their debut flick
'Sakkarakatti'.
Despites Bhagyaraj being one of the best screenwriters and filmmakers in the
Indian film industry, it's a billion dollar question why he has to launch his
son so foolishly with this sort of film? Also he assured that it would be a
great fiesta of entertainment for all the audiences. Yes, indeed it was! Those
multiplexes that had a great set of audiences were behaving so abnormally that
they started passing on comments from scene to scene. Of course, you would
enjoy those comments.
For the first time we don't feel reviewing a flick for one fine reason. This
isn't a professional film and looks like final year project of mass
communication or visual communication students. In simple, we would say it's an
immature performance by entire team other than A.R. Rahman who carries entire
film on his shoulder. That doesn't mean he has enchanted everyone with his
background scoring. No, single chords sounds of his style.
A pudden-headed story of Yuvaraj (Shanthanu) who is soon to join the college
with his four friends falls in love at first sight with Deepali (Ishita).
Meanwhile, Yuvaraj's cousin girl Reema (Vedhika) too falls in love with him.
Rest of the story is all about annoyance of who's going to join with one other.
'Taxi Taxi' is one such song that entertains with the sizzling dance
performance by entire team. Be it dance, cinematography and music, everything
is literally good for your senses.
Don't know the reason why the hero keeps uttering English dialogues in an
American accent. Was he born in United States or some other foreign land? Why
does he pretend to be so smart? Finally, why does he imitate Shah Rukh in his
gestures and style of delivering dialogues of Vijay? Was his father Bhagyaraj
and Kalaipuli S Dhanu, father of Director Kalaprabhu nodding their heads when
their sons presented with these underrated story?
If these questions are answered, then you can watch Sakkarakatti. Even after
reading this review, you're so adamant about watching it, we have an option for
you…. http://tamilmoviesongs.blog.co.in/2008/09/27/sakkarakatti-review/--

Gained a spectacular opening, thanks to the opera composed by AR Rahman,
'Sakkarakatti' is now attaining laurels beyond the four seas. The usual
speculations rage high abroad for flicks starring Rajinikanth or Kamal
Haasan. If not otherwise movies directed by the likes of Shankar, Mani
Ratnam gains an overseas market, for they are sure to enthrall the audience
with their magnum opus.

The habitual occurrence has been renovated for 'Sakkarakatti' as the movie
starring an all new cast in the lead has bagged a red carpet entry for the
first time in history. Erstwhile, about 32 prints had been distributed to be
screened abroad. Later, more prints were dealt to meet the demand.

Elated by the news Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu is on a high spirit. He preens
on the fact that this is the first time a movie starring debutants, which
was directed by a first time director has been acclaimed so wide.

Sakkarakatti's feat has been made possible by a significant reason which is
the music composed by AR Rahman who came out with a spectacular show that
pepped up the movie.

[arr] [semi-arr]Sing it with pride

2008-09-30 Thread yuva raj
Check out the article in Times of India- Chennai Times

  Sing it with pride!

CTfinds out what makes our national anthem so popular in and outside India

IT was a proud moment for India when our national anthem, Jana Gana Mana,
was declared the best national anthem in the world by UNESCO. Be it in a movie
theatre or during national events, this song unites one and all as we stand up
to pay our respects to the country. Music composer and singer AR Rahman brought
out his version of the national anthem, while a production house released a CD
of national songs recently. What makes this song so popular even today?
“It has a soul-stirring tune,” says music composer
Vishal of the Vishal-Shekhar duo. “Forget about it being the national anthem,
even the lyrics and the composition of the song are very touching. It has
strong values attached to it. The song encompasses our diverse culture and
everyone can relate to it,” he says.
Singer Raageshwari says the song is a masterpiece. “It mentions all the
regions and the rivers. It brings out the national spirit beautifully,” she
says. “The best thing about the song is that the tune is so melodious that even
if you don’t understand the words, it tugs at your heart strings. The song
doesn’t need any orchestration and can do well with just vocals,” says
Raageshwari. She points out that people from o t h e r countries also love this
song. “I’ve sung the national anthem at many places outside India and it’s been
received well. My friends from other countries who’re into hip hop and rock
also love our national anthem because of its melody. It’s a very emotional
song,” she says.
Singer Naresh Iyer agrees. “The music and the lyrics have a mass appeal,
which is the reason it’s so popular. The composition is also great,” he says.
And although the song is outstanding, does the youth of today relate to our
national anthem? “Definitely,” says Vishal, adding, “At school,
many of us sing this song without understanding the meaning, but since the tune
is so melodious, we remember it.” Raageshwari feels that an audio-visual
presentation of this song will make the youth relate to it more. “An
audio-visual showing the common man as the hero will definitely make the youth
feel more patriotic and take pride in our song. The problem is that we’re very
restrictive in our ways of showing national pride. We can’t wear T-shirts or
carry bags that have our national flag on them. So an audio-visual would
definitely work,” she says.
Naresh feels it all depends on the lessons imbibed by the youth today.
“It’s very good that we play Jana Gana Mana in movie theatres. But it depends
on the teaching given to this generation and the future generations. We have to
make sure that we cultivate the national spirit in our generations to come,”
Naresh says.

> The buzz doing the round is that the Aamir Khan starrer Ghajini, may
just be delayed yet again. The film which was nearing completion, was
all set to hit the theatres by December 25. But it seems that nothing
is going as scheduled.
> In all probability, the film is likely to be pushed back till
February or March of next year. The main reason for that is the
selection of Aamir's Taare Zameen Par as India's Oscar entry. The
film, which is Aamir's first as a director, will need him to be
present in Hollywood to promote his movie so that it grabs the
attention of the committee members and they vote for it. The actor is
no stranger to this as he had done the same for his film Lagaan as
well. But, like we said, it is a time consuming process and the actor
will have to spend considerable amount of time in the US to be able to
push his film. Taare Zameen Par is now at the top of Aamir's agenda.
What this amounts to is that the actor will not be able to give time
to Ghajini and the film is likely to get delayed again. It has already
been delayead a couple of times, first due to Aamir's decision to
direct Taare Zameen Par. Then there was nephew Imran Khan's debute
venture Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane
> Na, which he promoted in a big way. In between, Aamir also hurt
himself during the shoot of Ghajini. So, the film has been held up
quite s few time already. And with Aamir's focus changing again, the
delay in its release seems almost inevitable.

The actor
is no stranger to this as he had done the same for his film Lagaan
as well. But, like we said, it is a time consuming process and the
actor will have to spend considerable amount of time in the US to be
able to push his film. Taare Zameen Par is now at the top of Aamir's
agenda. What this amounts to is that the actor will not be able to
give time to Ghajini and the film is likely to get delayed again. It
has already been delayead a couple of times, first due to Aamir's
decision to direct Taare Zameen Par. Then there was nephew Imran
Khan's debute venture Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane
> Na, which he promoted in a big way. In between, Aamir also hurt
himself during the shoot of Ghajini. So, the film has been held up
quite s few time already. And with Aamir's focus changing again, the
delay in its release seems almost inevitable.

[arr] Re: Help me out!!

2008-09-30 Thread jibandevta

I have lyrics of Warriors of heaven and earth..

Warriorss in Peace [English Version] lyrics

1. From the heavens up above
The only road to peace is love
trust in your heart, see your dreams unfold
though you know not how the story goes
Walk with me into the sun
No more battles to be won
Take my hand, youre nearly home again.
Time is gently passing by
Though you weep i ask not why
searching the emptiness of your soul
Lost in visions of the past
memories they seldom last
silence is all that remains the same
* Because your life is no disguise, alone you stand
look at me through my mother's eyes
see who i am…forever free
2. Call me when you need a friend
To be with you untill the end
As the mountains crumble to the sea
Share your lonliness with me
Trouble always finds a way
To keep you further everyday
if only the end justified the means
Brothers lost and yet they be
so free,in your eyes tears i see
courage is reaching your destiny
repeat * and ch.

This news has been around since  a long time...
Its chances are that it can be a dub.. Because, India's COSTLIEST FILM-MAKER,
Shankar wont allow any other director to remake his film(His first film
Gentleman 1993 was an exception). Secondly, although BOYS was a musical
blockbuster, it was one of his SMALLER films, with only around a budget of 22
Crores...
In the South, the movie did averagely in Tamil Nadu...But was a MEGA-HIT in
KERALA and ANDHRA PRADESH...

A dub is probable A remake is in NO-WAY gonna happenSHANKAR is BUSY
with the 150 Crore ENDHIRAN with RAJNIKANTH and AISHWARYA RAI BACHCHAN in the
lead...
