[arr] Raja Hasan has recorded a song for the music legend Mr. A. R. Rahman

2009-01-03 Thread Vithur
Rumor Mills got us some news that Raja Hasan has recorded a song for the
music legend Mr. A. R. Rahman. Now how far is this news true, only time will
say! If this news turns out to be true then we still do not have any idea or
information for which movie it has been recorded and what type of song is
that going to be. But one thing is for sure, if Raja really has recorded for
Mr. Rahman then he sure has fulfilled a singers dream to sing a composition
of a great legend.

And as usual, we do hope and pray for the best for Raja Hasan and hope this
2009 will turn out to be a great year professionally and also in recognizing
true and loyal friends and fans.
Best of Luck Raja on behalf of RajaHasan.Com

Re: [arr] Jeroham orphanage Visit - Benny Dayal & Raihannaji

2009-01-03 Thread Vithur
Hi Sathya Boopathy

Jeroham Orphanage is a home for the orphans and also for the destitute. It
is being run by a Christian by name Suhin. Currently, they are positioned in
a Corporation ground, which is the building used for feeding the poor
Corporation School children ( Its called Satthunavu Mayam in Tamil )

They dont have any access to funds, but fortunately, Actor Vijay ( ATM,
Udaya Hero) has been sponsoring them bags of rice every month.

The rescued children are the ones which have been left over in trains,
market places, in temples and almost majority of them are malnutritioned.

You must see all this to believe it .

Earlier, we were there, when our brother Rajith Ramnivas from Dubai had
visited Chennai, and wanted to sponsor a meal . That was a good occasion
too.

Tomorrow, we have Benny Dayal, Raihannaji who may join us for the program.

God Bless All.

[arr] Re: Dont know how??---- Only GOD can do..

2009-01-03 Thread Chord
Rahman is in deep touch with the natural universal energy that
surrounds us. Yogis, Rishis, Saints of yore shared this. Rahman is
not God, but he is almost like a musical Saint for many. There are
many artists out there on the same wavelength. This is both natural
born and life learned/reinforced. Some call this divinity. This
energy is the source of all creation, hence Rahman's seemingly
unlimited creative energy in his music.

Hi All,

I had pre-booked a Nokia 5800. Yesterday Nokia Priority called me up

to inform that my piece was ready and I can collect it. I was soo

excited for

1)My new 5800

2)Connections album!

I just couldn't sit any longer in office .. I started as soon as

possible and within 1 hour of the call, I was there at the priority

store .. all the formalities said and done, I dashed for home and then

opened the media player to find 0 songs!! Then I realized the memory

card wasn't plugged in. Then inserted the memory card and finally

found the Connections album! :)

I started with 'Jiya Se Jiya' .. no words, awesome music .. awesome

beats! then moved onto Sukhwinder Singh's 'Mann Chandre' which is my

best pick (at present), its a slow, sad kind of song beautifully

rendered by the lady singer n of course Sukhwinder Singh then listened

to the 3 meditation songs 'Silent Invocation' A,B & C which I would

recommend everyone to listen to, i felt soo relaxed listening to these

tracks then there's kural by blaaze wich is another soothing track, u

just feel soo calm after listening to these 4 track .. and then there

are other instrumentals like Himalaya, Mylapore Blues, Mosquito which

I am yet to hear completely (soo eager to listen to all the tracks :D) ..

Sorry guys for my amateur review but i just jotted down watever i felt

after listening to the tracks for the first time

[arr] Abbas Tyrewala's 1-800-Love to go on floors in May

2009-01-03 Thread Vithur
Abbas Tyrewala's 1-800-Love to go on floors in May MUMBAI: Abbas Tyrewala's
directorial debut Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, which released last year, met
with much success at the box office. After this huge success, Tyrewala is
working on his second directorial film titled 1-800-Love which is scheduled
to go on floors in May, 2009 in Boston.
The first shooting schedule will be spread over three months. The script has
been written by Tyrewala's wife Pakhi, who will also be essaying the lead
role in 1-800-Love and is a romantic comedy. John Abraham has been paired
opposite Pakhi.* The music is by A R Rahman. *The movie is being produced by
Saregama India and is being made on a tentative budget of $10 million.
Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, producer Madhu Mantena says, "The script
is currently being fine-tuned. We are starting the shoot in May and would
ideally want to finish the shooting in one schedule."

[arr] Akon has been collaborating with A.R.Rahman

2009-01-03 Thread Vithur
Akon is totally digging the current trend of *rappers becoming singers*

**

In order to push his own musical boundaries, the Senegalese singer has
recently been collaborating with Indian composer A.R. Rahman. "When you have
two people of two different cultures, it's like making Kool-Aid," he said.
"Think of it like the best of both worlds at the end of the day. You never
even think certain things can be done like that. It's always juggling back
and forth."

[arr] The other star of the film is AR Rahman.

2009-01-03 Thread Vithur
Aamir's new release Ghajini got big success in box-office and it's become
biggest hit commercially but it is a lesser film of Aamir Khan. The film
lacks entrainment. Story and screenplay both are poor..
**

GHAJINI CONTINUES like a hurricane at the box office. It's smashing all
records. But when I saw the movie I felt its old wine in new bottle.

As we all knows Ghajini is remake of Ghajini Tamil version but the starting
1 hour 30 minutes of the movie, which is romance between Aamir and Asin is
taken from Basu Chatterjee's *Pasand Apni Apni* (1983) in that same role
played by Mithun Chakarvathy and Rati Angnihothri.

Aamir Khan is suffering from acute short-term memory loss set off by being
brutally beaten and witnessing the violent murder of his girlfriend Asin.
Any events and information, beyond 15 minutes is washed away from his
memory, but he vividly and clearly recalls what happened till the moment he
witnesses Asin's murder. He's got to work around this handicap, but with
methodical and meticulous determination. Aamir etches a path of clues that
lead him on his path of revenge.

To overcome his memory loss, he carries around a sheaf of Polaroids and when
he is really sure of a piece of information, he has it tattooed on his body,
which stands in for the damaged part of his mind. His indelibly marked torso
is the repository of his grief, his rage and his reason to go on living.

Ghajini without Aamir would have been just another B grade revenge drama
that nobody would have been interested in during this festive week. Asin
joins the league as one of the best debut this year though this role would
have been an easy ride for her since it is so identical to the 'original'
film. Jiah Khan sticks out like a sore thumb. She is so ill at ease with her
role that it really makes me wonder what the makers were thinking when they
selected her for the role?

Director AR Murgadoss does nothing new to adapt this film to a Hindi
audience. He appears to have sleep walked through the film by just reacting
to the 'suggestions' of Aamir and Ravi K. Chandran. Why would a director
want to remake his own film by just changing two actors and the climax?
Wouldn't it have been better to dub the film and release it than to waste so
much energy in remaking it? The industry really works in strange ways. The
other star of the film is AR Rahman.
**
*more
**>>*
It is because of his five songs that the film is a little easy on your mind
and ears but he fails as a background composer.

The film lacks entrainment. Story and screenplay both are poor.

Aamir Khan holds the film on his newly-built physique of 8-packs and he does
it with panache. His performance takes this film to a different level.

Some critics say it is one of the best of Aamir Khan films, but in my view
it is a lesser film of Aamir and we can't compare it from Aamir's previous
film like *Tare Zameen pe, Rang de Basanti, Lagaan, Ghulam Sarfarosh, Jo
Jeeta Wohi Sikandar,* etc

It's true that Ghajini is commercially a big success film but the Aamir Khan
label does wonders for it.

Final words: This film should be titled Aamir. It is because of this man
that this average film gets a three star rating from me. If there is any
best marketing award it should go to the marketing team (or is it Aamir) of
Ghajini.

Nadu

With enormous multiplexes gearing up in cities of Tamil Nadu and eventually
launch of Hindi films' home videos have pulled audiences' interest…. Here
goes the exclusive list of Top 10 Bollywood movies that stunned everyone
here in Tamil Nadu…
*1. Ghajini C* Maybe, due to the original version made by Murugadoss, the
film had whole lots of expectations. Of course, Aamir's stunning performance
overwhelmed the film with great success.

*4. Jodha Akbar:* There are more reasons why this film was expected by
everyone in town. Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai being ennobled as India's
sexiest pair for their sensational romance in 'Dhoom-2′ were pairing up
again. Apart from this, Ashutosh Gowariker was the other reason. He has made
the world renowned film 'Lagaan' and A.R. Rahman scoring music enthralled
everyone.

[arr] Ghajini BGM is Good, ARR's one of the best

2009-01-03 Thread Aaditya(Addy) *COOL*
BGM of Ghajini is like ARR's songs which will take time to grow. I watched the
movie twice one with my friends and the other time with my parents..I initially
didn't like the BGM when I watched it for the first time. When I watched the
movie 2nd the BGM just blew my mind. BGMs were the survivors for the movie
Ghajini in some parts else the movie would have been very boring to watch.
Some BGM's which were good were:
1.Behka Instrumental.
2.Behka Instrumental(sad).
3.Aye Bachuchu instrumental (soon after the song Aye Bachuchu).
4.Kaise Mujhe instrumental.
5.Flute usage in one scene before the girl narrates story to Jiah.
6.Run was bit different but was good.
7. Aamir's entry (when narration starts) not the first fighting scene.
Great usage of all songs in the movie, songs were lavishly spent. Except for
Latto all songs were good in the movie. If this supposed to be done by one of
ARR's assistants then I would say even that person had brilliant job.
Overall the movie was good to watch and the BGMs were pleasing to ears.

Rahmanism In one of my earlier posts, I have written my views on rise of
Rahman. One of the key factor that I mentioned about was "Rahmanism". For
anyone to standout from the crowd, they need to exhibit a unique style and
Rahman did it with a style. No doubt.

My opinion is that he very carefully avoided the spheres that were explored and
dissected by others, especially Illayaraja when he began the journey. To unseat
a person from the crown of Tamil industry who enjoyed only success throughout 2
decades would have been possible only with something special.

If SPB and Janaki were "overused" (I have no problems with that, personally),
Rahman brought new voices to the forefront. If violin and Tabla dominated the
era of Illayaraja, Rahman brought the techno music to the forefront. If "poor
sound/recording quality" was the norm, Rahman changed it. He kept "Vairamuthu"
by his side, when he was almost ignored for over 5-6 years. If 30-40 movies
were scored by Illayaraja at that time, Rahman chose to limit to 5-6 movies a
year. To an extent, even ther timings of work were opposite. He stood out.

One such instance, that I can think of is even usage of Raaga. If "Keeravani",
"Mayamalavagowla", "Kalyani", "Sivaranjani" and "Natabhairavi" were
predominantly used by Illayaraja, Rahman either chose the Raagas that Raaja
scored a very little or moved to the Hindustani paradigm.

Even on the Raagas where both have scored, there is a paradigm shift in the
usage. Take for instance - "Sivaranjani". As I had written in my earlier post,
this Raaga has been used by many music directors to depict the emotional
bonding and that comes out very clearly in the scale - S R2 G2 P D2 S. Various
hits in the past set in Sivaranjani scale are: Adi Aaathadi, Kuyil Paattu, Oru
Jeevan thaan Un Paadal thaan, Oh Priya Priya, Tere Mere Beech Mein and so on.

All of the above as you can see, depicts the emotional bonding and that is
mainly derived by the traversal from P D2 to upper octave's S R2 G2. Try
humming a song in the list above and you would easily be able to connect to any
other song set in the same Raaga with the same feel. However, now look at
"Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal" set in the same Raaga featured in the movie
"Thiruda Thiruda". Can you believe this song is set in the same Raaga that
generates a completely different mood. Though orchestration is one of the
possible reasons for the same, this is mainly due to the handling of the Raaga.

I find it difficult to explain in words, however, the way he split the scale
into pieces and traversed makes the song feel completely different from other
"Sivaranjanis".

[arr] Chinna Chinna Aasai to Taxi: The Mozart's Journey

2009-01-03 Thread yasheer_ar2
ChinnaChinna Aasai to Taxi:
The Mozart's Journey
"UlagamellamEngal
Tamil Paatu!
Nilavu saaindhada enna rate??
Western engaluku vilayattu!!No
Problem!!"

(The World resounds with our
tamil songs!!
What is the bet for the moon
to dance to it??
Western music is child's play
for us!! No Problem)

These lines from "No Problem"
in "Lovebirds" underline
the significance of Allah Rakha
Rahman in the world of Indian
music.

Late 1980s Indian cine music
witnessed a new beginning in
the form of Chinna Chinna Aasai
in Roja. Mani Ratnam was laughed
at for giving up on the Midas
of his earlier films-Ilayaraja
(Think of Anjali, Thalapathy,
Nayagan etc)- for this new gold
merchant known for some ad jingles.
Roja happened and Rahman became
an overnight sensation. The
new sounds of Rukkumani enthralled
fans all over. Rahman won the
national award that year.
[A R Rahman]

Then Rahman teamed with Shankar
in Gentleman which was another
revelation. Chikku Bukku Rayile
was the youth anthem of early
1990s. Thiruda Thiruda with
Mani Ratnam was full of international
sounds. Music which was new
to Indian films. Audio cassettes
started selling in groves. Audio
release functions which were
hitherto mere rituals became
an important part of the film's
promotion. Music became the
lifeline of the movies.

Pettai rap, Mukkala muqabla
and Urvasi gave the right platform
for Prabhu Deva to burst into
Tamil cinema with breathtaking
choreography. Pettai Rap became
the catchword of 1994. Bombay
sold a record 5 million cassettes.
With Rangeela he burst into
direct Hindi films. Minsara
Kanavu fetched him another national
award.

Then came Vande Matharam. The
50th year of independence saw
this lovely musical tribute
to India by Rahman. Full of
passion and energy which has
become the perennial favourite
for all Independence Day occasions.
August 15; Switch on your TV;
Tune in to your favourite radio
station; Go to the parade grounds
where your whole city will be
celebrating the day with fervor.
There will be one voice and
one voice only. The Voice of
Rahman singing Maa Thuje Salaam.

The same year saw the best friendship
song in Tamil cinema. Anyone
who has passed out from college
will sob after hearing this
Musthafa Musthafa in Kadhal
Desam. Many music directors
are trying to get in their own
replacement for musthafa. Alas!
It is yet to happen!!

Dil Se released in 1998. Chaiyya
chaiyya became a big chartbuster.
The stunning visuals atop the
Ooty train, sizzling Malaika
Arora and fantastic choreography
gelled together to give the
only song in Bollywood which
has a separate article in Wikipedia.
Then Rahman went global and
composed for the musical theatrical
Bombay Dreams produced by Sir
Andrew Lloyd Webber. It was
enacted in Broadway.

TIME magazine called him the
`Mozart Of Madras'.
"His songs were recognizably
Indian but paraded a world of
musical influences, from raga
to reggae, from Broadway to
Ennio Morricone, with each tune
heightening the film's drama"
- TIME magazine noted. His Roja
featured in the top 10 albums
of all time. He started appearing
in the list of 100 most selling
international artists. He became
the first Indian to appear on
the cover of `Rolling
Stones'.

Lagaan was called `a gripping
musical' by the Academy
Awards Committee. Yeh jo des
hai struck a chord with NRIs
all over the world. Chaiyya
Chaiyya was used in the title
credits of the Hollywood flick
Inside Man. He composed music
for The Lord Of The Rings theatre
production. The theme music
in Bombay was used in Lord Of
War. Two tracks from Rang De
Basanti and one from Water were
short-listed for 2007 Academy
Awards but just could not make
it. He has done international
concerts in Singapore, Australia,
Dubai, USA, Malaysia, Canada
and UK. He is the Indian ambassador
for the global campaign against
TB (an undertaking of WHO).
He has won 23 filmfare awards,
6 state awards and 4 national
awards. He has been conferred
with the Padma Shri.

Rahman is the one-stop for music
with diverse genres.

Folk- Kizhakku Cheemayile, Karuthamma,
Madhuraiku Pogadhadi.
Rap - Taxi Taxi, Dating.
Adrenaline pumping intro songs
- Oruvan oruvan, Ella pugazhum.
Jazz - jillunu oru kadhal, hello
mr.edhirkatchi,
Qawwali- Khwaja mere Khwaja,
ad jingles- airtel
The list is endless...

This BBBIIIGGG article has been
written in response to many
who are writing Rahman off.
He may look off color to some.
But many chartbusters of 2008
are his. He has been nominated
for the Golden Globe Award for
Slumdog millionaire that has
been winning critics awards
all over USA in film festivals.
