[arr] COM delayed because of a lost laptop!

2009-05-19 Thread Aravind AM

--
Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikalam (COM) went on floors in 2007
but is taking long to complete. Why’s that?

We found out the reason while talking to Nikita Thukral (of Saroja fame) who is
also part of the COM team. “Gautham’s laptop, in which he had the script, was
stolen. So, he has to write the climax all over again, which is taking time,”
she explained.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Entertainment/Regional-Stars/Technical-delay-for-Vasudev-Menons-film/articleshow/4551531.cms

Apart from this, in today's Dinakaran interview, Nikita has mentioned that the
movie is not shelved; 60% of the shoot is complete and shooting will start
soon. She has also mentioned that couple of songs are yet to be completed by
Rahman.

[arr] COM songs not used for VTV

2009-05-19 Thread Aravind AM
Hi,

I got this news from a very reliable source, that all songs of VTV are fresh
songs.
The speculation on the group a few days back, that Gautam Menon may be using
which ARR composed for Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikkaalam (which has been put on
hold) for VTV is not true!

[arr] Rahman's Bests

2009-05-19 Thread raamkumar vaidyanathan
Rahman's Bests

Double Oscar winner ARR was recently spotted in airport (not surprising since
he is constantly traveling)

When a question was asked about his favorites he immediately replied

"Two
songs from 'Delhi - 6' and one from "Jodha akbar". He hastened to add
'khadal Rojave' and 'chinna chinna asai' (from Roja) are his all-time
favourites.

And what about that hit album "Vande Mataram"? "Oh, That was the 1st time I
sang and appeared in the video of an album," he smiles sheepishly.

Chris,
I get your point, no need to make such a big fuss out of something which I
just gave a moment's thought to. I don't need your certification for being a
Rahmaniac or not.

I think my involvement in this topic ends here. Sorry for wasting time of
many members here with my not so serious thoughts.

I am so happy that it will probably be a fully "Western" score...this way ARR
won't be stereotyped as someone who only provides Indian or Indian fusion
music...he will be seen as a great musician. periodalso...there will still

2009-05-19 Thread nivensamy
As I mentionned in earlier post, I bought the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and was
shocked that it did not contain the 'connections' album but 18 tracks from
international charts. Also when i queried the Nokia distributor in Mauritiusm
they told me that the 'Comes with music' version of the phone is almost double
the price I paid for and is only available in Singapore, and only recently in
UK.

I think Nokia is targeting only Indian market for Rahman fans as they chose him
to launch the product on his birthday.

Guys, it was plain wishful thinking. I know it is not going to happen.
However I want the Rahman touch to be there, hence it cannot be exactly 100%

[arr] Farhan Akhtar’s Sore Throat Might Stall Blu e Song

2009-05-19 Thread Sreekrishnan R
Farhan Akhar’s song for Tony D’Souza’s Blue that composer A R
Rahman has decided to record at the last minute, might get stalled by a
bit, no thanks to Farhan’s sore throat.

Farhan has been shooting for his latest starrer Kartik Versus Kartik in a dry
humid studio.

“And
I’m hugely allergic to dust. My throat has gone bad at a time when I
least needed my voice to go bad.Working in dusty studios and singing
just don’t go hand-in-hand. I guess I’ll just have to live with it.”

There
were no plans to use Farhan’s vocals in Blue. But then Rahman who really
liked Shankar-Ehsan-Loy’s tunes in Rock On wanted toincorporate
Farhan’s vocals into the Blue.

“Rahman has approached me and
yes, I’m singing for him. It’s a club-based song and I guess my voice
goes well with the smoky mood.”

Farhan admits it’s a leap ahead
for him as a singer. “In Rock On I sang for myself. Now I’ll get to
sing for someone else, and that too a song composed by Rahman.Yeah I
guess it’s a leap forward.”

But for that Farhan will have to
first wait for his throat to be fully functional again. “Kartik Versus
Kartik is my most gruelling role to date. It requires a lot of physical
action,” says Farhan.

[arr] " God is very Great. If He decides to give, who can Stop!!?" - says A.R. Rahman

2009-05-19 Thread Vithur
" A.R. Rahman had started composing for Ad Jingles. Unable to bear his
success, there were some people who had complained about him to the Customs
Authorities and betrayed his trust. There was so much of trouble and
humiliation that he had to undergo because of the same.

When I had started involving myself more spiritually, I started receiving
more offers from the field of music too. In 1987, I got the opportunity to
visit Singapore , Malayasia. There were a lot of Electronic Instruments
available there . I could realise that the same could be brought back to
India and deployed for some constructive purposes. That was my Investment
and I thought of doing something only with the help of the same. So, we sold
all jewels, money from home and attempted to get those instruments.

There were some people who halted and tried to hinder this idea of mine.
They tried doing many things to stop my work , and to hurt me in many ways.
The people in the Customs would try to embarass me and treated me very
badly.

During those days, I would be shuttling between home and airport. I used to
suffer a lot like this for about two years. Fortunately, my father's good
friends used to assist me in this.

After so much of hardships and obstacles, we brought those musical
instruments to home. God is very great. If He decides to give, who can
Stop" - says A.R. Rahman

[arr] "Blue will be a very popular album" - Farhan Akthar

2009-05-19 Thread Vithur
Ask him about his meeting with AR Rahman and he says that he is 'yet to
figure out the song'. "Blue will be a very popular album because it also
features Kylie Minogue apart from AR Rahman's music. I haven't been able to
have a sitting with him (Rahman) till now, though we have spoken on the
phone about it. I will soon be able to figure out the song," Farhan Akthar
 adds.

Well, for me personally, and I'm not speaking for anyone else, nothing beats
the original CD with the best possible sound quality and packaging. As a music
lover myself, the internet version of Connections is full of skips, missed
beats and other sonic blemishes that I really don't appreciate for such a
beautiful album. I enjoy the internet version purely for the music content,
yes, but I do miss CD prof perfect quality. And if I'm speaking for myself, I
am confident that many other audiophiles would agree with me.

Nokia wants to keep Connections as part of their product sales, which means you
have to buy a Nokia product to listen to this album, unless you are happy with
the flawed internet version, which amounts to piracy, and for which many are
forced to content with due to lack of store sales and many not wanting to buy a
Nokia product. For me, Connections is not just another run of the mill album.
It's a beautifully crafted piece of art by ARR that deserves to be showcased
through CD quality and packaging. In fact, sales of Connections would probably
benefit from a CD release since it's associated with ARR, who has just come off
of one of his most globally successful periods and having a brand name quality
assurance, not to mention a drought in the music industry at the moment.

I don't know if the music of Connections is helping to sell the 5800, but I do
know that a lot of people who either don't want to or cannot afford to either
buy a Nokia product or don't want to commit piracy are missing out on a
fantastic quality album by ARR, his first private album since Vande Mataram.
And not just Indians. ARR is a global phenom. I know many Westerners who would
be enthralled to hear a crystal quality version of Connections.

I know I'm not speaking for the common man who is not into sonic quality
issues, but I do believe that ARR would benefit a lot if Connections came on CD
globally. And we music lovers would be eternally grateful too!

Few days back I saw a recent tamil movie, Guru en aalu, a remake of SRK's Yes
Boss with Madhavan as lead. Music was by the notorious Srikanth Deva. And for a
particular scene he has ripped the electric guitar bgm as is from Rang De
Basanti (The sequence when Siddharth & co. walks before getting hanged). Not to
mention the ripping of the tune of Tina turner's Golden Eye title song as bgm
for another sequence in the same movie. lol. Shame on them.

Rajesh Roshan is known for his unknown power and talent of simply copying
international hits. But this time he has done something different. The music
played in the Trailer of the new Hrithik movie 'Kites' has a very close
resemblance to one of the bgm scores of arr in JTYJN. Guys just double check if
I'm wrong. Maybe its just another 'Inspiration' .

Vinnaithandi Varuvaya team off to Malta
Kaanchan [May 18, 2009, 7:06:08 PM]
After the soul-stirring Varanam Aayiram, Gautam is busy making
Vinnaithandi Varuvaya, a musical romance starring Trisha and Simbu. With
the swine flu eliminating several hot locations for shooting, and since
other fave shooting spots have turned stale and repetitive, Gautam Menon
decided to find a brand new place to can two songs for his forthcoming
Vinnaithandi Varuvaya.

The man behind the movie's melodies is A.R. Rahman. To make the music
extra special, Gautam has finalized some never-before-seen locales in
the islands of Malta for two songs. Interestingly, though popular with
Hollywood makers, not a single Indian movie has used the scenic locales
of Malta till date. With Rahman handling the music, expectations are
high, and insiders reveal that the music album for Vinnaithandi Varuvaya
will not disappoint.
