[arr] 'Jai Ho' enchants music lovers across the globe | Semi ARR

2009-07-15 Thread Sreekrishnan R
Allahabad: "The superhit song 'Jai Ho' composed by music director and
Academy Award winner AR Rahman not only captivates music lovers in
India, but across the globe and in US one can hear the popular number
being played in shopping malls and not to mention at the John F Kennedy
International Airport also," said a delighted Vikas Swaroop, author of
the book 'Q and A' which inspired the making of Oscar winning movie
"Slumdog Millionaire' in an exclusive interview with TOI after his
arrival in the city here on Wednesday.

Holding high praise for
the Hollywood film industry for its democratic character, Swaroop said
the scene at Academy Awards Ceremony was entirely different from Indian
Awards Function on account of the fact that once ushered inside the
venue one could freely interact with the likes of Brad Pitt, Angelina
Jolie and Jennifer Aniston. However, in Bollywood the security
paraphanelia around the stars keep the fans and common man at bay from
their favourite stars.

As regards 'Slumdog Millionaire' the diplomat turned writer felt that
after Gandhi it is the first film based on an Indian theme which has
earned the accolades of movie lovers in western countries and won
Oscars in virtually all major categories. This is despite the fact that
themes of both films were altogether different. But this cannot deny
the credit to Slumdog.. which was a work of total fiction and its list
of high profile admirers include present US secretary of state, Hillary
Rodham Clinton.

Attributing the success of the film to its
ability to touch the hearts of people from top to bottom, Swaroop said
that work on another film based on his second book 'The Six Suspects'
would commence shortly with British Broadcasting Corporation(BBC)
hiring the services of legendary screenplay writer John Hodge to write
the screenplay of the film. Interestingly, Hodge is the person who is
credited with writing the screenplay of Slumdog's.. director, Danny
Boyle's other three films and is a gifted screenplay writer.

I see where you're comign from for some of the albums you have mentioned..but
Delhi-^?...c'mon man!...it is quite easy to see that Delhi-6 is a timeless
musical masterpiece..and an album that bears the sheer class of AR Rahman from
first track to last track...it could even be argued that it is his finest
albums since Kangalal Kaidhu Sei or Boys!variety, originality, beauty, fast
songs, slow songs, contemporary songs, old-fashioned songs...Delhi-6 has it
all...to be frank...i can't see how any AR Rahman fan could not LOVE
Delhi-6my white (and other non0indian) friends were STUNNED by Masakilli,
Dil Gira Dafatan, and Yeh Delhi Mere Yaar another great thign about the
album is the sheer fact that NO OTHER music director in India could even come
close to composing something of it's quality!

[arr] Shankar’s ‘Boys’ to get dubbed in Hindi

2009-07-15 Thread Sreekrishnan R
Director Shankar, who has been churning-out incisive socio-commercial
flicks; hop-skipped for a different attempt on “Boys’. The film won
appreciations, but also generated controversies about double entendres
and few “Bold’ themes. A.R. Rahman’s musical score being a sensational
mania resulted in record-breaking sales of audio despites piracy. The
audio success fetched more crowds for the film.

Now with A.R.
Rahman ruling Bollywood with continuous success, producers have planned
to dub “Boys’ in Hindi. Abbas Tyrewala who shot to fame with his
directorial “Jaane Ya Tu Jaane Na’ will be penning dialogues for the
Hindi version.

The film has Siddarth of Rang De Basanthi fame,
Bharath, Nakul, Genelia D’Souza of Jaane Ya Tu Jaane Na in lead role
with Vivek enacting a prominent role.

listening to the last five hindi albums of A R RAHMAN which are delhi 6,
ghajini, yuvraaj, ada, jtjn, jodha akbar i came to a point that something has
gone wrong . the commercial aspect has badly influenced A R RAHMANS music.
these movies contain below average rejected songs which are no where near to A
R RAHMAN STANDARD.

I am missing that RAHMAN who used to create wonders in music. just listen to
his first album ROJA A SCINTILLATING ALBUM, THIRUDA THIRUDA his most diverse
album till date, GENTLEMAN, HINDUSTANI MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE A R RAHMAN album ,
RANGEELA, DIL SE , ALAIPAYUTHE, I HAVE ONLY NAMED A FEW THESE ALBUMS CONTAIN
mind blowing songs. those never listen by anyone before . the music standard of
these bockbuster hits was miraculous .The strange complicated sweet raag based
tunes , the heavenly instrumentation, breathtaking interludes , the AR RAHMAN
sound , the scintillating rhythm all these albums had these qualities but today
all is missing.

i think that A R RAHMAN SHOULD STOP doing commercial movies, these are hurting
fans like me who wait for an a r rahman album day in and day out , and then
what one gets is below average music. i hope that A R RAHMAN in future will
come up with songs which can compete with his gems like telephone dhun, dil se
re, thee thee ,tanha tanha .for me A R RAHMAN is the king of music i am sure he
will again become the glorious RAHMAN which he used to be.

ARR's high quality of music is there today as it's always been. Just a
general observation, while his music today is less adventurous and surprising,
he makes up for that with greater emphasis on melody and increased emphasis on
the voice tracks in the mix, making his songs generally more accessable to
traditional film music melody lovers, without compromising his own brilliance
and class.

A.R. Rahman is not stepping out of my film- Gowtham

Filmmaker Gowtham Menon has been spelling magniloquently Hollywood-fangled
flicks in Tamil Cinema. With his previous film “Vaaranam Aayiram’ based on
Tom Hanks starrer “Forrest Gump’ turning to be a blockbuster, he has almost
completed shooting for his forthcoming flick “Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya’
starring Silambarasan and Trisha in lead roles. Academy Award Winner A.R.
Rahman has scored music for the film and recently there were rumours about
him backing off from the project.

Gowtham Menon clarifies, “A.R. Rahman hadn’t come up with any such issues
and he was quite disappointed going through the rumours. He has composed 5
fantastic songs with different genres and I have completed filming 3 of them
at Malta Islands. Once, the shooting is done; Rahman will be kick-starting
with background score”

Gowtham Menon is producing the film, he has decided to release the film by *
Diwali *.- Sampurn Media

sorry to sound so rude, but come on.. are we not getting sick of all these
old-is-gold blog posts and mails?

just because his current music is not of your liking does not mean we don't
like it and he should quit making commercial music. i love all these albums
you mentioned and i am sure there are many others who liked them as well.

if you don't like it, quit listening to it and don't complain.

Thiruda Thiruda is my alltime favourite too. Its TAMIL.

U r in a way right bro. Ur feelings are exactly the same as many, in this
group. But many dont have the courage to reveal it. I did reveal certain
times, but I was disocuraged. What u said, is EXACTLY the problem with ARR's
music nowadays. And some people dont want to tell it directly, and hence
they hint it indirectly by starting topics like 'Do u want any change in
ARR's Music?' .

There are no more Rangeelas, Thiruda Thirudas or JEANS...

BTW, Dont include Dilli6 in ur list of ordinary albums. DILLI6 was very
extra ordinary. The only thing is that, U will require several listenings to
grasp each song. After grasping it..The songs would HAUNT u...

Rehna Tu is my favourite, but MASAKALLI is an entertainment machine.. After
grasping the song, it wont spare u.. It will haunt u like anything!! Its
like a Joyful Ride!!

ANd listen to the songs 'MEHERBAAN' and HAWA SUN HAWA in ADA... U can
find the heavenly ARR ingredients in them. It was not a commercial movie. In
JODHA AKBAR, KHWAJA MERE KHWAJA is also an EXTRAORDINARY piece!

The thing is ARR should stop coming out with ordinary numbers(Which are
good, in terms of other composers, but NOT in ARR STANDARDS).. like KABHI
KABHI ADITI, GUZARISH, PAPPU CANT DANCE , SHANO SHANO, LATTOOO
etc!!!

But IAM LOVING DELHI6 like anything!! And u can expect a LOT from SHANKAR's
'ENDHIRAN(ROBOT)' and MANI RATNAM's 'RAAVAN' ..

TAIMUR, I must tell u, that u r a TRUE FAN of ARR!!

I'm sorry you feel this way. Got bad news for you, because ARR will not go
back, he will continue to move forward. The Rahman train is moving. I'm sorry
you fell off.
