[arr] AR Rahman has got Celine Dion on record

2010-02-14 Thread Siddiq Rahman
AR Rahman has got Celine Dion on record :
Mumbai: Double Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman is
all set to team up with Canadian singer Celine Dion for an
international album. Rahman is expected to record a couple of songs
with Celine, who is most popular for the theme song of the 1997
blockbuster movie Titanic, 'My Heart Will Go On'. A source says, “Celine and
Rahman first met when he was recording
the remake of the Michael Jackson single We Are The World to raise
money for Haiti victims. It looks like she was bowled over by Rahman’s
dedication. She spoke to him about a venture together and he is keen to
be a part of it.” The source adds, “Celine wants Rahman to
compose two new songs that she will sing during her US tour beginning
March 15. Her forthcoming album is also set to have these numbers as it
is already being expected that these singles will top the charts
looking at both Celine’s and Rahman’s popularity in Hollywood. This is
going to be one big association.”

[arr] A.R.Rahman interview in Tamil Magazine

2010-02-14 Thread Gowtham
Q1:In oscar stage you said"All my life, I had the choice of hate or love.I
choose love and i am here".It shows so frustation ! and what is the reason?
In everyone's life there was chance of selecting two ways - Hate or
Love, but nothing can be cost easily to come forward in one's life. There was
many controversy to acquire their stage in this competitive world. We are in the
position to answer to media as many of others wants us to irriate by creating
gossips. Answering them "hashly" is one way and "calmly" is another way". But i
choose the second because it suits all aspects.

Q2:Speech in the Oscar stage shows your maturity and how you obtain that even
in young age?

Right from my young age, there was many loss in my life that bring me
maturity.I started working in Studio in my young age. I learnt my life
there.Even if anyone realise cause of death it too express the maturity.I saw a
documentary film about father in church which is about 16th century. It
explains life is something expanding one's life under a small roof.Just it
proves life is temperory. I relised this in my young age. May be this seems
maturity in me

Q3:You reached the high level from down. Upto you what is the formula for this
inclination?

If you see my formula, after my caste interchange there was change in
my life. I was admired by their caste ethics. One thing i was to express that
because of my family support i am in this place. Without their coordination i
cant perform my profession. I am grateful to my family members.

Q4:You express that after your caste interchange there was a great change in
your life. But you started woking in music industry right from your young age.
After this only you change to other caste. What is the reason behind this?

As per scientist, psychologist say, everyone would found truth in
their soul life. That is magnetic attraction. Even in spiritulity, there is such
force. A person can follow either buddhism or Hinduism ,etc.. as per their
will. This my caste change made my family prosperous. This meant the reason

Q5:Whether Spirituality help you to success?

Because of my unprotection i took many false decisions. Yesterday i
received a sms that tells a situation. A daughter bring me a coffee,
unfortunately she slipped her cup and spoiled my shirt. And actually i was on
my way to work. In that situation, how would react whether making slap at her
or advice her to be caution by the next time.
We have two choices, one is forgiving another making problem. Like
this, there was many options in each and every situation. If there is a cause
of death,we have to check and stop the forthcoming . We have to think over to
decide the decision. We should be in a position to make a event whether to be
positive or negative. It depends upon us.Spirituality pay a way for this kind
of question. Even it is useful in music...

Q6:Still 18 years right from age of 23, you have been striving towards working
for music. Do you think you have lost anything, apart from college life?

I cant mean that i have lost. I too didnt realize like that. Being in
music world, gives me immense pleasure.Doing a interesting job, itself a
blessing for a person. Without complainting them , I am thankful to god for my
way.

Q7:Your friends, hobbies?

Unluckly, I dont have close friends. I dont find time to spent my day
with my friends. My co-workers are my friends. If i am in foreign countries, my
agents are my friends. I go dinner with them. But they are in business motive.
I like to spends my day with my family. Just by now i am in oscar committee so
i watch many oscar film. Before people watch a film, I will be watching with
free of cost in theatres. I have 30 films to watch. So no time for hobbies.

Q8:In oscar stage, your say " Ellam Puzhalum Iraivanukke ". Is this your actual
say or you made this to speak in tamil ?

At instant I told. Actually my sister wanted me to talk in tamil and
after my say she feel so proud about that.

Q9:What is the difference between A.R.Rahman as a keyboard player and as Oscar
winner?

I dont think, there was any difference. There is reflection in each
work. Ours thoughts would be reflected in every field. What inhibited would be
reflected. For me too, it works like that.

Q10:What would you like to say for the young music directors?

No person in the world is innocent, they use internet to know
everything. They exhibit their brilliance. India is the place where many
youngsters are present. This is good to be in future. Each growth of the plant
is known only through its seed as this is the say by "kaviko". So we have to
find whom we are.Rose sappling cant blossom Jasmine flower like that each
individual should identfy their own skills and try to establish it to the world
with hardwork. They should be in their own style without adopting other way.

DHEEM TA NARE NARE, is a CARNATIC oriented compositions..and there is not
much of Rhythm in this song as compared to THEE THEE U feel the
similarity juz because for u THEE and DHEEM seems the same..
Both the songs are ENTIRELY DIFFERENT from each other!! If one is Sachin
Tendulkar, then the other is Michael Hussey!!

THEE THEE cannot be recreated!!

"Meenaxi- Tale Of 3 Cities" - HYDERABAD, JAISALMER, PRAGUE ,is the second
brainchild of acclaimed artist MF Hussain after "Gajagaamini" . But the reason
of this movie's existence till date(If, any) is because of none other than our
musical prodigy AR Rahman Sir! Had ARR not been an integral part of Meenaxi,
she would have donned to her gruesome natural death! Tabu's excellent

hyper positives,Meenaxi failed miserably at the box office, so much so that,it
did not find its place at all in certain cities of India. Nobody knows when the
movie released and screened .The movie's fate turned so bad , thanks to the
huge controversy created over a Qawwali song which was supposed to be referred
to the almighty had been referred to the woman.

Well, for us Rahmaniacs, the music album and the ever haunting background
scores are more than enough treat to the senses! ARR sir directly pierces our
heart and makes himself comfortable inside! There's no room for us to replace
that space! Meenaxi's main USP lies in its earthy musical score which picks up
the essence of 3 cities - Hyderabad, Jaisalmer and Prague.! The below opinions
about the soundtracks and BGM scores are straight from my heart!

Chinnamma Chilakamma - Hyderabad | Sukhwinder Singh
Chorus:  Ganga, Febi, Kanchana

Going by the initial lines, anybody gets duped that the song would be a
typical south indian peppy number with its Telugu Lyrics. But as Sukhwinder
picks up his lines, one gets the Hyderabadi accent in its full flesh! That is
the magic spell the entire album offers
you;thorough nativity! Sukhwinder, always is the thump provider to any
electrifying
compositions of ARR.In this case, he has penned the lyrics as well. He always
adds his
signature styled nuances and makes the song sound more addictive. The flute
interludes and some dholak drums here and there (by Shivamani) provide the
audical treat. Chinnamma's choreography is also worth a mention here.

Rang Hai - Jaisalmer | Alka Yagnik
Hummings by : Dallinda

A rustic mysterious cry of a woman welcomes you to this earthy Rajasthani
folksy number. The woman behind this mysterious voice is a Lebanese singer
Dallinda!  Alka Yagnik is the perfect choice to do the vocal honors for the
song. Her expressions in the lines "Kya Keh Rahaa Hain Sun Sunn...Paayal Pehen
ke Phagun.." is first rate!! This song can be more enjoyed by seeing its
resplendently colorful visuals( thanks to MF Hussain) on screen. The mud
pots(Ghatams) and some strange strings are the main highlights in the
instrumental arrangements.

Noor-Un- Allah - Hyderabad | Murtuza Khan, Qadar Khan

The most controversial song in ARR's career(of course for no fault of his!).
This song's
controversy had such mighty powers that it pulled out the entire movie from the
screens due to an offensive reference made to the woman instead of the
almighty. ARR, being a Sufi Saint, has come up with one of his career best
qawwali with a sufi touch! Its soo sad that this great number didnt get its due
credit. Both the Khan brothers have performed aptly, though ARR's voice is
royally missed here! ARR creates an unbelievable magic with few basic
instruments like Tablas and Harmoniums.! The rythm patterns throughout the song
is scintillating to say the least!! You feel like getting immersed into this
purified sea of
melody and get all your sins washed off! In the movie, this number is split
into two halves.
Both the starting and ending phases of the movie has this song. The entire
story happens
between this song. And the lyrics gets its honors from MF Hussain himself.!

Dhuan Dhuan - Prague | Asha Bhonsle, Kunal Ganjawala
Percussion : Shivamani
Additional Grooves : James Asher

The Legendary singer Asha Bhonsle pairs up with ARR once again to render this
sultry and seductive number. ARR, right from Rangeela days, has always chosen
Asha ji for young, vibrant and peppy numbers like this and she, regardless of
her age, has al
