Even though inumulo/irumbile is 5.15 mins in real time,
it feels like its ending immediately as soon as it starts..

HE used pallavi only twice- in the beginning and in the ending
and the tune ARR sings in between is an awesome flow..
rap was fit in perfectly... very intelligently crafted.

Boy he has definitely enjoyed doing this song.

I can't get enough of the line that goes:
"Alaati hayithe..."

Why, pray why, does it appear for just one fleeting moment! Could listen to
Maham Maaye a zillion times just for this line. And it's sung so, how shall I
put it, "cutely"?? Telugu by its very nature is such a sweet language, and the
way this line was rendered makes it doubly so.

Btw, what does it mean? A pukka non-Telugu myself.

I get this feeling I am gonna listen to a lot more Telugu now. Rahman made me
fall in love with Tamil, will he do the same with Telugu?!

[arr] My 3rd Original Tamil Song Composition & Arrangement

2010-08-10 Thread kitcha_swamy
Dearest AR fans, Please take a few minutes of the 3rd original tamil song that
I've composed & arranged. I would be delighted to hear some comments from
fellow rahmaniacs, as my passion to make music started right from the time I
listened to Roja :-). AR is a super influence on me and the fact that rookies
like me can make music from home, it just shows how much AR is indirectly
contributing to the world of Music. He is not only an influence to an ordinary
person like me but also to the Industry big heads to make better Music. AR has
given Indian Music a solid identity in the world stage and I'm just super proud
to be called a Rahmaniac. If I could ever get a wish from God, I would want to
spend my life with AR but I also know that so many of you would wish the same.

JAI HO AR !!!

Thanks Arvind. I really wish I wouldn't need to go to the hibernation

About the robotic voice chanting "Puthiya Manitha...Boomiku Vaa", was it really
ARR? I could recognize ARR in the subsequent lines "Ehkai vaarthu, silicon

like I was wrong here.

With the heavy workload for the past 1 month, I hardly had any time to spend on
myself…no movies, no hangouts with friends, no chatting and/or interacting on
the net, and no music :( So, when the last of my assignments were sent in last
Friday, my mind was all set to embrace the activities that I've missed thus
far.
Call it fate, but Endhiran's audio release was set at a time when I desired the
much-needed emancipation from the maddening world…and boy, what a relief it
brought to my life.
Honestly speaking, I wasn't expecting much from Endhiran soundtracks. Western,
particularly techno music has never been my favorite. Why, even when the whole
world went ga-ga over the funky Hello Doctor and Kalloori Salai (when Kadhal
Desam was released), I've been more moved by the blissful Thendrale and Anbe
Anbe from the same film. And with the kind of film Enthiran was anticipated to
be, I was very sure that there weren't going to be any soulful melodies in the
tracks. Nevertheless, Enthiran is definitely an album which stands tall among
others, even as it continues to create a delightful impact on the listeners.
Leaving the musical aspect of the album to the experts, I'm merely here to
share my experience with the album. The album starts out with Puthiya Manidha,
which also happens to be my favourite track. The prelude music, coupled the
chanting of "Puthiya Manidha" in sci-fi tune (who is this guy?) and Kathijah's
soulful voice creates a certain anticipation in yourself. Well, if you know
ARR's music, then you'll definitely know that this number is just going to get
bigger! And before you could stop thinking, the song hits you like a bang! SPB
pushes into the front lane and with the occasional support from ARR, delivers a
splendid performance. And yes, the whole song has a techno feel to it, but it's
far from being loud and noisy. There's a life in this song, a soul waiting to
embrace the world…and by the end of the song, you know that Enthiran has born
to rule the world.

Kadhal Anukkal didn't create an impact on the first listen as Puthiya Manidha
did to me. To begin with, it took me some time to realize that it's Vijay
Prakash who delivering the number. Is he the same guy who sang Hossanna? He
definitely sounds different. At times, I even felt that he was imitating Udit
Narayan's way of singing. Maybe he's not but I certainly wasn't taken by his
singing nor the song….at first. With repeated hearing, you realize what you've
missed at the first listen. Sounds you've never heard before, the cheekiness in
Vijay's voice, the joy in Shreya's and a positive vibrancy in the whole number.
The song sound fresher after numerous hearing. It's my fault for dismissing
Vijay too soon. He was amazing. Shreya was at her usual best, and leaves a
distinguished mark with the way she loops around the notes at the end of the
song. Wish she had continued
 singing the
notes a little longer.  I still don't listen to this number as much as I
enjoyed listening to Puthiya Manidha, but yes, this is definitely a track to
look out for.
ARR switches back to techno with Irumbile oru Idhaya

difference. It's only about 17 min of music, right?

Often the FYC promos are paid for by the composer (and sometimes, the studio)
and are not for sale. They're sent out free to AMPAS members. But over time
they
find their way into used cd stores in California and later on ebay. I hope you

Surprised that no one spoke about Minsara Kanavu, or did I miss the mail
as usual?
I always felt that Prabhu Deva is one choreographer who complemented ARR's
music beautifully, right from his Chikku Bukku days. But somewhere along the
line, PD seemed to be very repetitive with his steps and lacked the spark he
had in Chikku Bukku and Kadhalan.

But Minsara Kanavu proved me wrong. All the songs were shot beautifully and the
dance steps were just magnificient! Who would have thought such amazing steps
could be choreographed for a romantic number such as Vennilave Vennilave? Mana
Madurai and Strawberry Kanne on the other hand were just just vibrant with
colours and sleek steps. You could never tell where ARR's music starts and
where PD's steps ends...they just went hand in hand. Amazing work!

I have always loved SDM score. despite most of the Indian fans claiming it
to be not his best ( and I think I thought that too when it released.) it
has now become one of the best scores of AR for me. it packed all the power
to bust your gut! the riot theme is such an intense composition.

are these tracks different from the one that was released earlier ? I think
Riot, liquid dance and love theme might be similar right ?

Re: [arr] For Your Consideration Slumdog Millionaire Background score CD

2010-08-10 Thread Ramesh R
I recall seeing two kinds of promo cds for SdM. One of them had a KM Musiq
credit on front while the other didn't. Not sure what's the reason for the
difference. It's only about 17 min of music, right?

Often the FYC promos are paid for by the composer (and sometimes, the studio)
and are not for sale. They're sent out free to AMPAS members. But over time
they
find their way into used cd stores in California and later on ebay. I hope you
didn't have to pay too much for it. It doesn't contain any music that's already
on the commercial release. Right?

Thanks Pratap. This definitely sounds like Benny Dayal. Wow the song sounds
so raw, as few layers are missing in it. Most of the sounds are very
innovative.

2010-08-10 Thread Gayathri Chandrakasan
Thanks Arvind. I really wish I wouldn't need to go to the hibernation state
again too, nevertheless, my work has a mind of its own and I'm bounded by them.
LOL!

About the robotic voice chanting "Puthiya Manitha...Boomiku Vaa", was it really
ARR? I could recognize ARR in the subsequent lines "Ehkai vaarthu, silicon
serthu" but I always thought someone else has sung the former lines. Looks
like I was wrong here.

Shreya was at her usual best, and leaves a
distinguished mark with the way she loops around the notes at the end of the
song. Wish she had continued singing the
notes a little longer.  I still don't listen to this number as much as I
enjoyed listening to Puthiya Manidha, but yes, this is definitely a track to
look out for.
ARR switches back to techno with Irumbile oru Idhayam. The song exudes sci-fi
and techno music at its best. Was I thinking that this would be soulful? A
definite no, but surprisingly and funnily, it is. The whole idea about this
number is to project a man who feels love blossoming from his heart of steel.
ARR uses the right techno sounds to present the number. The high technology,
sci-fi tune depicts the robot's inflexion, while the lyrics, regardless of how
funny or techno centric they are, illustrate his feelings towards

[arr] irumbile - 5.15

2010-08-10 Thread Raghu
Even though inumulo/irumbile is 5.15 mins in real time,
it feels like its ending immediately as soon as it starts..

HE used pallavi only twice- in the beginning and in the ending
and the tune ARR sings in between is an awesome flow..
rap was fit in perfectly... very intelligently crafted.

Boy he has definitely enjoyed doing this song.

I can't get enough of the line that goes:
"Alaati hayithe..."

Why, pray why, does it appear for just one fleeting moment! Could listen to
Maham Maaye a zillion times just for this line. And it's sung so, how shall
I put it, "cutely"?? Telugu by its very nature is such a sweet language, and
the way this line was rendered makes it doubly so.

Btw, what does it mean? A pukka non-Telugu myself.

I get this feeling I am gonna listen to a lot more Telugu now. Rahman made
me fall in love with Tamil, will he do the same with Telugu?!
