These super clear audio files are called holophony http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holophonic (holophonic sound recordings) and are designed to be listened to with headphones for the best effect. They have been recorded with a dummy head that has two microphones, one in each ear. The shape of the head and ears are designed to be similar to a human head to most closely replicate real human hearing. It's pretty incredible. Grab your headphones and have a listen. While the content itself isn't that engaging, the sound effects will probably have you listening a second time.

Flash is good for first time visitors viewers who belong to certain genre , but if you want loyal customer base who come back to the site again and again , text version is the way to go. * Does ARR Blog ? Does he want to Blog ? it is great way to relate to fans. There are so many interviews of ARR all over the media , but one place , where he talks to his fans about what he thinks , without being questioned would be great. Just an idea. * You could also consider guest bloggers talking abt ARR eg would be Amir Khan. * If it is possible look how the site behaves in Mozilla / Firefox IE might be big customer base , but mozilla has been catching up fast and is already a big player. Right now primary pop ups works fine , but supplementary pop us ( eg : wall paper ) get loaded within the parent , leaving no way to navigate to home in firefox. Text friendly version will not have any issues with firefox. * Even though you give the user the option to switch the audio off , turn it off automatically after some time. Be context sensitive with background music when u navigate to an eye candy page ( eg: interactive discography ) you can keep the music on. When you go to pages which need attention of the user like interviews , automatically switch off background music. * So many ARR's videos out there on internet may be section for selected videos If you are space sensitive , just embed borrowed content. * Throw sample music has hidden gems in the website . Have seen people talk abt music from Bose / Meenaxi not being a commercial success hide samples from those albums in the website and give info about those albums and links to website from where they can buy these albums in house website marketing . * There are lots of places on the flash site with the hyperlink cursor ( clickable hand ) ( eg : discography ) when there is no real content to click on please do look in to them . [arr] Re: Aamir Khan deeply involved in Ghajini remake
Ghajini was well packaged for a tamizh movie. Inspiration from foreign flicks + chemistry of the leading pair + really catchy songs + comedy ( from the heroine ) , Did it for the movie. Inspiration from foreign flicks Memento and Gajini are too far apart in terms of the story. People who have seen both the movies will know this. But the idea of hero suffering the short term memory loss and tricks he uses to remember what was done to him to take revenge on the villain is a direct lift from Memento. Memento is a very complex story to tell and screen play takes a lot on the audience to understand. This is a complex story to tell because the color scenes are told in reverse chronological order while the black and white scenes are done in chronological order. Both the color and black and white scenes are alternately interspersed throughout the movie in a set pattern. This is done by director Christopher Nolan and his crew in order to confuse and bewilder the audience. He states it is to put the viewer in the shoes of Memento's protagonist Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce) and experience what he is going through. He crafts the film such that new bits and pieces of information are given out with each color and bw scene until their time lines meet. Gajini is nothing like that in terms of screen play. It is a regular Kollywood movie. To over simplify things Hero falls in love ... Villain kills heroine ..Hero takes revenge ... Chemistry of the leading pair This was a major boost for the movie .. Asin was spectacular in the movie and for the short time she is there , the movie is a breeze. All the funny moments in the movie she shares with Surya comes out pleasing audiences of all ages and taste ... Asin helping the blind man scene is a direct lift from The Amelie (Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, Le) - French movie . With gems like that thrown in during the Asin + Surya romance , the movie scored really well. The comedy from Asin was surprisingly fresh and enjoyable. Music I am not going to discuss this , because i guess everything that needs to said about the tamizh gajini music has already been said. In Short A movie with large potential for commercial success and a slightly intelligent movie as well. Hindi Audience / People seeing for the first time in Hindi You definitely will have something to look forward to from the movie for the star power and more importantly for the music from ARR. Tamizh audience who will be repeating the movie in Hindi Apart from the star power , ARR music is something surely to look forward too. Also it will fun to see what differences are there in both the versions ( specially the climax) . Being the movie buff i am , i am curious to see how well the comedy and tamizh centric sentiments ( which are less in this movie ) translate in to hindi ( as it is a major pain point for many movies that crosses this boundary ) --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, sri ram [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Ghajini as such is not a movie that is out of this world. It is a story of one's vengeance which the director tries to tell in Memento fashion. But in Tamil it was the protagonist's and the girl's performance with some standout songs that pulled the class audiences to the theatres. Very well said Ranojoy. This is what i love about this group. Once in a while u get to read such balanced , honest views which are also profound and strong. hari On 8/14/07, Ranojoy [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I can relate to your feelings completely. However, I do think that AR Rahman, potentially, is miles ahead of any other composer in the Indian film industy. A R R told me recently that music production has become more time-consuming because every song has to be mastered in 5.1 and that it hurts productivity. There are all sorts of issues. Technical competition, as you point out, is very much a part of it. Many of the A R R fans here who cannot accept any criticism must not remember how profound the impacts of Roja, Thiruda Thiruda or Bombay were when they hit the market. My mind is too shrouded by nostalgia to objectively assess those albums as far as musical quality anymore. However most people who have seen those releases will agree that the impact was far greater than a Yuva or Guru in recent times. It is also doubtful whether this was due to a musical vacuum, espcially in Bollywood, since Nadeem Shravan, J-L etc., were in their peak as well, and were selling a lot more albums than Rahman. But what A R Rahman brought was completely different in musical style and arrangement, and broke all traditional barriers. He took out any instrumentation that sounded cheesy and relied on sound engineering and effects processing to tweak every little sound. Thematically, he went away from the common musical conceptions of emotions, and created fast beat-based songs that were sad, or slow songs with subtle instrumentation that were happy or cheerful. As I was discussing with Gopal Srinivasan recently, you watch the videos of songs from Pudhiya Mugham, May Maadham, Vandicholai Chinarasu and wonder how (or where) A R R got the inspiration to produce such beautiful music given the scanario. As I know him, he still tries to be the trendsetter. But people are exposed to so much these days, it is probably more difficult to create something impactful. Let's see what Jodha Akbar brings. It was nice to see an honest assessment from you. With all due apologies to Vairamuthu , I present you to a badly translated English version of the song. With the complexities of active- passive reverse connotations when you try translating a Dravidian language to English and my limited knowledge of both the languages, and importantly the lack of similis in English I seek your pardon ahead of time. Lyrics : Vairamuthu Singers : Mano, Sujatha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROvRin-v_go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROvRin-v_go If you combine these lyrics with the visuals you can relate more to the settings described / inquired upon as they seem a little disarray when read singularly. The song You who was born to my athai* and have blossomed in to woman * Your father sister is Athai for u and in many traditions athais daughter is the desired match for a guy You carry the sweetness of your youth in lovely pavadi ( skirt ) When did u grow up to be such beautiful women for I fondly remember you as kid playing to catch grasshoppers? When did u bloom in to a full moon from the crescent you were? If silence is your answer for all my queries what else do I do? By the bunds in the farming field, there she stands like fully bloomed cotton. She who picks silly fights with me, is this the same girl who has blessed the thavani ( half saree ) by adorning it. Our relationship will stand the test of time, like flowing river water which is never salty. Watch out of the wind instruments / key board interlude at this junction it will remind you of other rahman songs! :) Mamame (My dearest) I yearned and starved (literally and emotionally) for you and your sight Even when the situations and omens were against me, I came running to see your lovely face. I went calling for you by the banks of the river , I went calling for you by the Train*** that went past by , The river flew, the train went past by, time passed And my eyes were filled with tears longing for you. My dearest please don't leave me For if you do, my life would leave me too. *** The visual and imaginative comparison of a train leaving a small village is a much exploited theme in tamizh movies to symbolize separation. (the actual meaning of thottapoo ellaam sogandhaanaa thodaadha poovum sogandhaanaa is very tricky to write * wink * wink) Are the trees in the garden fine ? Are you parents doing fine ?
