2008-07-06 Thread Subramanian H K
nah bro.. thats not what i said... u would compare with arr songs
and say this piece is copied from this song and that piece from yet
another, while it is original... so i hope u get it now.

btw comparing any MD with any other MD is a bad idea .. not just
with arr.

check out these two songs.. I know all you arr mavericks will dissect
them in no time and pull out of it, even the remote arr-ish influences
but take my word, they are 100% original. conceptualised, written,
composed, and arranged by Shyam Chand.

more abt him may be some other time but some in the arr circles and
the film fraternity know him already.

tc n enjoy the songs

i was gonna post the same too.. it does sound like the same tune for
those lines

[arr] one more find...

2008-05-21 Thread Subramanian H K
the background beats which loop throughout the song in "oh vennila" of
kaadal desam... and the guitar strumming loop of "vellai pookkal" from
kannathil muthamittal.. are they both same???

[arr] MLTR copy

2008-05-21 Thread Subramanian H K

few lines of "kahin to hogi" song sound similar to "im not an actor"
of mltr.. these lines i mean...

jaane na kahan woh duniya hai...

I'm not an actor im not a star...

the similarity is stark especially at the end - 4:17 - when they sing
chorus at higher scale ..and over all, the song has got a strong mltr-
ish feel to it.

btw.. looks like 2008 is arr's all the way. already we have three
beautiful albums in hindi and one in tamil. he will sweep all the
awards no doubt... but i think even all the nominations will be his
songs this time... effectively competing against his own songs.

[arr] Re: Did arr go to london in 80's ??

2006-03-31 Thread Subramanian H K

hello there

> WHY IS THIS EVEN AN ISSUE? Trinity is a school of music in INDIA,

there is no issue. it is just to get the facts about ARR's bio.

no one is denying that there are affiliates of trinity college in
india and no one is denying that ARR did upto level 7. the question is
did he do it in india or london. some of the old members claimed he
didnot even go to london before he became AR Rahman...

but we hear a different story from the man himself.

> I don't know if ARR had ever been to London before

well.. thats the question under perusal.

ofcourse yes... he and his band performed in my college too..
(ofcourse that was like 10-15 yrs before I joined)

I quoted ARR's words directly from his interview. there is no
speculation whatsoever.

Hi .. aishyam, mbthuglak, jelly_nest,madagaskar_indian,

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/arrahmanfans/message/35645

and, take a look at this recent interview he gave where he says,
he "later returned to India blah blah".

http://www.hindu.com/mag/2005/10/02/stories/2005100200460500.htm

 How did you begin?

I was selected for the scholarship in Trinity Music College of London.
Later I returned to India with a dream of bringing an international
and contemporary world perspective to Indian music.

so, it looks like he spent some time in london even before he became
the Music God AR Rahman we all know today.

if at all he did not return to india, we would probably be still
hearing those bappilaharis and anumaliks country music

found it!! check this out

and the mp3 track (if the link is too long, copy & paste it)

it turns out that this priceless track was mixed with drum and bass
for a radio presentation (1xtra) on a UK radio channel by DJ Bailey

huh?? are u kidding? "Bombay theme" sounds like a pure south indian
carnatic instrumental piece with "manjira", "flute", "violin" etc...

listen to the "ya habibi" track from Tehzeeb...
you will get a taste of arabic genre of music

[arr] Re: FWD: A music lovers personal comments about ARR's music

2005-08-23 Thread Subramanian H K

you guessed it. I BEG TO DIFFER

> opinions are respectable, but are more of a summary
> judgment.

I appreciate your interest to analyze the facts rather than just hear
opinions but I would like to point out that Sunil's message is nothing
more than a "detailed summary judgement" too . and he aptly does
his confession (rather acknowledgement) by saying...

> > whole thing. I don't know whether I am fitting
> > observation to theories or theories to observation.

and coming to the topic, every song has few lines which just goes on
and on and on in a brain. I said "A brain" to stress the fact that all
the brains are different and unique. So, converting 'an' observation
to theory is not logical.

I would just give couple of examples and leave it at that...

1.
Do patthae... pathjhad ke
paedon se uthre thhey...
paedon kiii shaaakhon se.. uthre thheyyy

now tell to yourself if the right song strikes in your mind??( i am
asking this because it is ones own opinion/observation/perception that
matters in understanding )

if you are able to identify the song, it means you have a strong neuro
links which associate these lines to that song.

now, try this.

2.
laanat hai jii us par duniya me.n hii rahkar
duniya me.n jo jiine ke a.ndaaz ko na jaane
maathe ya haatho.n pe chaa.nd ya taaro.n me.n
kismat ko DHuu.nDHe par khud me.n kya hai yeh na jaane

can you identify this one?

Well, these conclusions cannot be arrived at with mathematical
formulations(as yet)... so its all about surveying unbiased opinions.

and I think this kind of a survey would be more effective with small
clips of audio rather than the lyrics as I gave above.

thats all I got for now and please do not take it otherwise if i do
not follow up on this discussion...

Subbu.
