everywhere..play it in their ipods, their cars, their super stereos, even if
the clip is 20 seconds in bad sound..but it's new ARR music...
Discussions abound.is it good? ARR skeptics and naysayers chime

Music was supposed to release today Realization sets in that the
launch function was set for the day, but CDs will take time to come out,
another 2 weeks, due to T-series screwing up something.

 6) Another music release date comes out by T-series.AR fans everywhere
 very apprehensive...but willing to wait..wait...wait.waitthe

7)Another promo is releaseda new songsomething to chew on while we

flop..I don't have a good feeling about this...etc. etc. People on this
group tell these people to shut up and not judge a whole album just by the
 clips (but inside, they're worried)

 8) T series release date is changed again the day before the expected release
date due to problems in packaging and distribution.AR fans everywhere
curse T series, calling it bad names, asking why AR albums releases are
always botched up and why always with T series... Notable AR fans start to
make calls to T series people demanding an explanation and a true release
date. Multiple release dates are subsequently announced and mass confusion,
frustration, chaos among AR fans developswhich is the real date? Huh?
Should I go to the music store that morning or not??

 9) Out of the blue, the album releases unexpectedly while people are
frustrated and confused. Downloading begins everywhere while AR fans urge
other AR fans to not download and wait to buy the CD.

 10) Discussions, reviews, analyses, opinions all come flooding out after
hearing the album with at least one person saying the music is a complete
 disappointment.

[arr] Blue release date 14th August

2009-03-17 Thread russel_mohammed
Blue release date on 14th August.

We have to wait till July for Audio Release.

Any other release b4 that..?

Any one hav any information.

'Blue', 'London Dreams' set to clash on August 14
Mumbai (IANS): It will be a clash of the Titans. Two of the biggest films of
the year, Vipul Shah's London Dreams and director Anthony D'Souza's Blue,
are set to release on the same day - August 14.

To prevent the clash in dates, Vipul has been trying to convince the makers of
Blue to release it a week earlier. I don't think there should be a problem.
Not with Akshay (Kumar) being part of 'Blue', Vipul told IANS.

Vipul had earlier taken friend Akshay into confidence and met Raj Mehta, head
honcho of Asthavinayak, to request them for a change in the release date of
Blue.

It wasn't just any two big films clashing. It was an Akshay starrer clashing
with my film. Akshay is not just a favourite actor, a close friend and business
associate. His business interests are my concern. So we did request Raj Mehta
to shift the date for their 'Blue'. Yes, they've agreed to release the film one
week before 'London Dreams' August 7, Vipul had said.

However, Anthony D'Souza, who is shooting round the clock to complete the film,
insists that the release will be on schedule.

As far as I know they ('London Dreams') are releasing a week before us. We're
releasing on Aug 13 (a Thursday) which is a public holiday. The added holiday
gives us the longest-ever weekend for a film to release and grow.

Vipul, however, insists London Dreams is coming out on Aug 14.

To this, Anthony D'Souza said: In that case we'll both come together. There's
no way we're pre-poning 'Blue'. We want the long Independence Day weekend. Are
we stupid to give it up because of competition. In any case 'London Dreams' and
'Blue' are very different films. I believe there's room for two big films when
they don't clash in theme or star cast.

However, Vipul seems to think it's suicidal to release both films during the
same weekend. London Dreams features Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan.

[arr] Brand Rahman goes sky-high

2009-03-11 Thread russel_mohammed

After winning two Academy Awards, AR Rahman's brand value has
skyrocketed to Rs.10 crore. Sources in the industry are saying that the
Indian composer and musician has recently bagged an offer from Apple for
this sum, which insiders indicate is around Rs.8 crore more than what he
was getting previously.

A source told the DNA, It is being hugely gossiped in the circuit that
Rahman is being offered by international companies a sum of something
around Rs.10 crore. He certainly has become the most sought-after celeb
in the ad world if he is getting such a high figure. The Oscars is the
reason behind this.

However, a close aide of Rahman states, This news is highly
speculative. It is true that Rahman is associated with Apple, but that's
because T Selvakumar (who is the managing director of Rahman's KM Music
Conservatory) is associated with Apple. Meanwhile, AR Rahman featured
on the Filmfare Power List at No.8.

[arr] Danny Boyle-A.R.Rahman in Bond’s next?

2009-03-05 Thread russel_mohammed

A scintillating buzz across the globe is about a source revealing that
Danny Boyle has been asked to direct James Bond's 23rd Film.
It's a high-season for British Filmmaker Danny Boyle who stunned the
world with his impeccable story of the `Slumdog Millionaire'. In
fact, the filmmaker was a bit distressed as there were no takers for
this film as they felt it wouldn't do good business at the box
office. Nevertheless, the mantra of `Rags to Riches' has become
a hit yet again with Danny's able direction, as the film fetched the
international awards the crew never even dreamt about.

Post-Oscar triumph, the director has been flooded with offers left right
and centre from top production houses one of which is with Barbara
Broccoli, producer of James Bond's 23rd Film. Talks suggest that it
was co-producer Callum McDougal who suggested Danny as both of them have
shared a good rapport for a very long time. As a matter of fact, Callum
who produced Danny's `Beach' was fascinated by his working
style.

Says one of the sources, `Danny's intense involvement with the
motifs he drops on his script papers is unbeatable by any of the
contemporary filmmakers. For sure, he would offer a new-dimensioned
James Bond and it's something about turning spotlights of entire
globe if Danny is there in Bonds' family'.

And not only does the story end there, if Boyle signs up for this flick,
undoubtedly don't we all know who the music director for the film
would be? Uh-huh! None other than the `Mozart of Chennai' our
very own A.R. Rahman, as both have already planned to work on another
international project that's expected to be based on the organized
crime in Mumbai.

Hold your breath until the official announcements are made. And just
imagine Rahman re-tuning James Bond's signature music that's a
universal theme.

Just can't wait to hear more right. So are we!

Unbelievable, he said, after his name was announced, after he
sprinted onto the stage and fished around in his pocket for the piece of
paper containing his acceptance speech. That was the exact word in my
mind too. Unbelievable! We knew our cinema was going around the globe,
but who would have dreamt that one of its shining ambassadors would go
to the Golden Globes. AR Rahman's subsequent words, too, appeared to
have been lifted from my head. I thought I won't win, so
anyways... he declared, to much laughter from the audience, and I
knew what he meant — for even if he deserved to win, would voting
vagaries and political considerations take their toll on a relatively
unknown musician from a land far, far away from Hollywood? Thankfully
they didn't — and it was one of those moments we're going to
play in our minds over and over. Thank you Rahman, for winning, for
putting a face to the great tradition of Indian film music. Thank you
Rahman, for acknowledging, on that resplendent platform in Beverly
Hills, all your musicians in Chennai and Mumbai, those nameless faces
that untiringly translate the ideas in a composer's head into
concrete musical form. Thank you, Rahman, for that shout out to the
billion people from India, for raising a toast to the brown face amidst
that sea of white. Thanks for all your prayers, he concluded,
with characteristic humility, as if it were simply our outpourings of
faith that propelled him to his win, and not his dazzling talents. But
the most touching aspect of Rahman's acceptance speech was surely
when he acknowledged, Thanks to the almighty God for bringing me
here. On one level, this is entirely expected, for Rahman's
faith in the divine is no secret. But even otherwise, this invocation of
God (or destiny or providence or fate or however you wish to name the
mysterious forces that shape our lives) is entirely appropriate —
for Rahman has been fortune's favoured child in ways that no Indian
film music composer before him has been. A look at his miraculous
career appears to indicate that it may not be simple coincidence that he
has always been guided to the right place, and always at the right time.
When Mani Ratnam, the most visible and influential face of Tamil cinema,
was shopping for a new music director, Rahman found himself there. Roja
was a spectacular musical success, not only in Tamil but also Hindi. The
fresh strains of music that emanated from Rahman were, it seemed, just
what a jaded nation wanted — even if it appeared, for a while, that
dubbed versions of his Tamil hits were all that would sneak through to
the north of the Vindhyas. And then Rahman found himself the chosen one
again, when Ram Gopal Varma made Rangeela, and he got himself a smash of
a Hindi soundtrack — and beginning then, no composer before Rahman
has bridged the tastes and the terrains of the North and the South so
spectacularly. And the reach of Rahman's sound just kept expanding
— first from South to North, and then from India to the world. When
Dil Se became the first Indian film to break into the UK Top Ten at the
box office, Rahman found himself, again, at the right place, at the
right time. On the strength of Chhaiya chhaiya, Andrew Lloyd Webber
beckoned, London's West End beckoned. And thus, with his global
sound, Rahman became the global face of Indian film music, the way
Aishwarya Rai is the global face of Indian cinema — the one name
that springs to the lips of people outside the country when they refer
to the curiously fascinating world of Bollywood. But more than anything
else, Rahman has been extraordinarily blessed to arrive as a musician at
a time the world has shrunk beyond recognition. The great composers
before him were, at best, cherished and celebrated within their states
or perhaps, if they worked in the Hindi film industry, within the
country. But today, thanks to the Internet and a gaggle of news
channels traversing the breadth of the nation in search of stories —
can you imagine a Tamil masala movie named Sivaji, starring a Tamil hero
named Rajinikanth, becoming a nationwide sensation even 10 years ago?
— the world is clued into what is happening at our doorstep, and
when we raised a toast to Rahman, it was always only a matter of time
before the world did too. And Rahman continues to be at the right place
(Bollywood) at the right time (the present day). He still dignifies the
odd project in Tamil or Telugu, but a significant portion of his
energies are channelled towards gilding the visions of Bollywood
filmmakers who are ambitious, who understand the value Rahman brings to
their films, and who do not mind giving him the space and the time and
the collaborative creative inputs to bring out the best in him. Where a
composer from an earlier era may have burned out
