Was listening to the theme song of gladiator me russel crowe. towards
the end of it, the beats appear to have an eerie similarity to the
beats employed in the jiya jale jan jale song in dil se. now dil se
came in 98 while gladiator came in 01. am not suggesting any reverse
plagiarism. jus a similarity.

The difference between when a portion of ARR's songs sound similar to other
songs is that the portion that sounds similar in AR Rahman's songs is not the
core of the song. The songs would have been just as great without those
portions too. For example: the final beats in Muqala Muqabla. The core is
always Rahman's. This is not the case with other music directors. In their
case, the copied part IS the song!

All perfect praises belong to God alone

I too accept many MDs lift songs and present it.

I would like to make my point..

MDs composes a song based on some Raaga. The Raaga can have diferent
flavours. and each MD can handle it differently. For Eg if you listen to
Ore naal unnai naan from ilamai oonjaladugiradhu. and also
Sahana from Sivaji. the starting will have same traces because both have been
tuned in
same Raag Sahana(i suppose, corrections appreciated). But as the song grows
there is
difference. A raag can have only the same swara pattern. And a MD can use only
those swaras.
and it seems like copying and people get misconception tat the MDs copy.

Such experiences are not new. They happen. We cannot expect everyone to have
good info. Most of the listeners are average music lovers, and we have
noticed people passing off soundtracks like Josh, Mast, Jungle, Satya,
Refugee, Ashoka and few others under AR's name. We know Sony Music included
Ismail Darbar's compositions in an AR related compilation album. Sometimes
movies like Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha, even Tehzeeb and Lakeer, go under the
names of other MDs.

What more, I have once noticed someone attributing Guru to Himesh
Reshammiya!

Point is, we have to take it easy!

Very wise words... :-)

There are always gonna be some shameless ppl around who are gonna say shemeless
things abt ARR, whenever they get a chance to do so. Like I've noticed on
Rediff, whenever something is published abt ARR on rediff, there are always
some very sick comments abt him in the comments section... really makes me
wonder... how one could hate a gem of a person like ARR...
