[arr] Re: ARR's Favorite Keyboard??.............and much more on him

2006-02-15 Thread abhinav
hi,

well ARR's Favorite Keybaoard undoubtedly -- Yamaha MOTIF ES
earlier he used MOTIF 6 now he has switched to ES 6
i hav seen his promos with Yamaha Digital Piano, Yamaha clavinova
so i can judge his favorite is definitely YAMAHA's line.

i hav listening to ARR for years now.so i can makeout his
equipments..thru his sounds...
his keyboards are...i guess...

1. Yamaha MOTIF ES
2. Access Virus Kc
3. Clavia nord rack 2
4. YAMAHA DX7 , CS-80
5. KORG TRITON STUDIO

maybe he might be using plugin versions of Access Virus and DX7-in
NI-FM7 ...but some fat leads , bases are thru these hardware
keyboards definitely..

and i am sure he uses spectrasonics - stylus rmx +atmosphere +trilogy
and thier sample libraries...i did hear vocal planet + heart of
asia, africa + symphony of voices in meenaxi a lot and many of his
other movies..

and he uses a combination of protools TDM + Logic pro to sequence
and mix.

that's it..on his keybaords and softwares
and i am sure there is much more stuff than i could decipher.

if u are trying to emulate ARR SIR I WOULD SAY
that musicians like ARR sir are not grt bcoz they hav the best gear
but bcoz they hav the best techniques and the best team with them...

ARR started at age of four ...now he is forty
35 yrs of dedication and riyaaz in music is his strength
plus trained in (hinustani + carnatic + western classical) from best
music conservatory on planet TRINITY COLLEGE OF MUSIC
knows arabic +flamenco +latin styles of music and sound engineering
alsowhat else is left..

i read somewhere he is trying to learn the sarangi thesedays
why ?/ he has the best player of sarangi...USTAD SULTAN KHAN for him
why does he need to learn at this point of his career
his dedication and experimentaion are the pillars of his success

ONE QUESTION FOR THE GROUP >

would ARR had been able to compose tracks of meenaxi , swades , RDB
at the age of 18 when he started ??

IMO, experience brings the best in musicians
not just young talent.
-

ok enough.

if u are trying to buy some gear than i would suggest u to look on
alternatives if ur are on budget or are not a pro musician...

Yamaha MO6 -FOR THE MOTIF ES 6same 175 meg samples
just few functions missing ..a lot cheaper than MOTIF ES...
if u can find original MOTIF thats also grt value...
but i am sure its not available in india ..yamaha has stopped
its production.its only available in music stores of US

KORG TRITON LE / KORG TR6 - FOR KORG TRITON STUDIO / TRITON
a scaled down version of KORG TRITONa lot cheaper versions
of the same high quality workstations

if u still need the MOTIF ES / TRITON STUDIO and can't afford them
go far the RACK versionssame sounds..just a 1000 USD
connect any midi keyboard ...and make music...

[arr] Re: ARR's Favorite Keyboard??

2006-02-13 Thread Ranojoy
All sequencing is done in Logic and not on any keyboard. They are
essentially used as sound banks, and for live concerts, unless they
are specialized keyboards (this helps save a LOT of space in
studios). I have seen him sequence using Oxygen or Ozone MIDI
keyboards using the Protools Toolbox as a MIDI interface and he is
PHENOMENAL with them. Point is, he does not need sophisticated
equipment (hardware).
