I can't tell you how many Raj Kapoor/Shankar Jai Kishan songs using raaga
Bhairavi sounded similar! Same with Naushad and his compositions.

For me, I find too many differences between Behene De and Satrangi Re to spoil
appreciating the originality strengths of Behene De.

From the day it got released, till today i am putting my best efforts and was
hoping that Raavan's songs will grow on me one day. But unfortunately it dint.
This has never happened to me in any of ARR's albums. The reason probably is
except for Kille re, others sound very familiar to me like Ranjha Ranjha(mayya
mayya), behene de(jane tu mera kya hai), Thok De Killi (Loose control from
Rangdebasanti), and even Jaare Ud Jaare (Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na title song) to a
certain extent(not just bcoz of the similarity in the words). Whenever i listen
to these songs my mind automatically switches to the song that i hv quoted in
bracket. So i loose control of the song that i am currently listening to. Its
really frustrating to experience this. I think the problem is actually with me
than the music of our boss.

So to all of you guys who are enjoying Raavan's music, i must say im really
jealous of you guys. But i can do nothing but just simply wait for his next
album.

Luv u Rahman !

Interestingly I never found even remote similarities between the tracks
mentioned here. And I am especially surprised that people are finding
similarities between Behnde de and Jaane tu mera kya hai. both are my very
favorite songs and have heard hundreds of times but never felt so. same is true
for Mayya mayya and Ranjha ranjha, except the song title with repeating word I
don't see any similarity. anyways it is only my opinion.

2010-05-25 Thread Rivjot
I find it funny how people are having hard time liking the songs. Not to
pin-point any person, from what I've noticed is that there are two kind of
people who didnt like Raavan songs -

a. People who said they dont get vintage Rahman compositions as they used to
get in 90s. They want songs similar to ARR's past work (especially 90s)
b. People who want compositions to be out-of-the-box, they dont like the songs
as they connect each song with ARR's past work and find songs similar to what
they heard in the past

Both categories contradict each other. I am glad that I dont belong to either
of these categories :)
