Pardon my interference. I disagree they dont listen to A.R. songs. When they
listen to it you wont be knowing. Excluding the fanatics of A.R., other reasons
constitute, India is mostly of middle-class. They are thrifty. They are
satisfied with online players mp3 downloads. With it they have the option
of selective songs / repeated listenings. On the contrary if you think the high
earning people are spending category which is not true. They are the ones who
are conscious of money when comes to spending. To my experience as a counter
sales person, people come out of qualis / honda cars with attracting perfumes
master cards. They enquire with us about new releases. Browse all the rows of
CDs including that of A.R.'s new ones, spend an hour and exit without buying
anything. They update themselves what is the latest with shops for shopping
atmosphere. But actually getting on with the Internet. Secondly for others who
are not aware of  A.R.s
new releases, time personal interest does matter for them in these things to
see it secondary which is one of the realities.

[arr] is Rahman really popular in non resident Chennaites/Tamilians?

2008-08-05 Thread Arijit Debnath
I have lots of Tamil/chennaites friends where I am working, but I am totally
surprised whenever I travel in their cars I never hear any of rahman's
songs...never ever...It really pains

yesterday one of them was travelling with me... and he can't realise or
recognise Taxi song or even Marudhani or any song from Sakkarkathi... they
simply are not aware...

I really don't know

Dear Arijit

Yes. thats partly true.. AR is in a way been considered as a Bollywood Music
Director in the Tamil Industry and Tamil Audience. As he is unable to do
that many Tamil movies , as compared to Hindi ones, it apparently looks like
people are not able to keep in touch with AR 's tamil compositions.

This in no way means, that AR is not famous here or anything of that sorts.
People are not able to keep track of releases of Tamil flm songs by AR,
unlike before. Here in Tamil Cinema, its dominated by Vidyasagar, Harris
Jeyaraj, Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Though he may no be able to do that many Tamil movies, yet whenever he comes
with a Tamil music, he rocks rocks rocks.. No second thoughts. For me, no
qualms at all. If he touches his keyboard, thats enough. Even if he composes
in Nepali language, i would go and buy the CD and get immersed with it.

Actually we are die hard fans to get rahman's latest work at any costmay
be that is the reason we expect the same thing from others...

U'll be surprised to know how I get the Tamil/hindi albums so quickly...

Being tamil CDs, I hv my friends at Chennai...who buy it for me and courier
to my home at Kolkata...and u must appreciate my mom's credibility... who
took all the pain to learn from me how to rip songs from CD... and then she
send them through mail.

may be we r expecting similar efforts from everybody..which is not
possiblebut its really painful when I don't listen to any song by our
Guru from a fellow Tamilian...

We could even put this way that it is their loss, not ours :)

Let's enjoy the music and leave the rest to their own preferred tracks.

Warm Regards
