Dear Shai,

You are always welcome to post your queries related to ARR here.

I have no knowledge of Sound Engineering stuff. But what I know is Sound
Engineer's role lies in all the areas of music production i.e., both in the
song production and BGM production. Earlier what sir used to do with Sridhar
sir and Sivakumar sir is what he is doing right now with Krishna, Viviane, KJ
and Hentry. As a music composer, our boss is responsible for the whole song -
melody, arrangements, orchestration, sound etc. He visualizes and finalizes on
what need to go in a song and just gets the work done from his team. And when
you work as a team and lead the team you cannot simply neglect the ideas from
your team members.

Much has been explained by fellow rahmaniacs in this mail trail. Thanks

The way you guys talk is as if that Harris has rhythm programmed for ARR from
"Roja" to "Rhythm"...Baseless allegations. ..I'm not here to degrade anyone. I

Is there any one gifted by God till now who can change the trend that ARR has

own trend and that's why you feel that difference.. .Let's take a case...By the
time when you first heard the Sakkarakatti song, ARR would have already
composed for atleast 50 songs for his future projects...But when you get to
hear one of those new songs after may be a year or more, still it feels so
fresh and never heard before...That's a true magic and a gift from God to ARR
to cater a future expectation. ..He is the one who is setting another new trend

He uses the right instruments / software loops in the songs...For youthful
commercial movies, he experiments a lot with the sound samples, loops, and
beats which will make you feel energetic... At the same time, he experiments
using live instruments for melodies that turns heavenly! Some time he does the
opposite as well that's why he is magical; example - "Naalai Ulagam" from the
movie love birds - A 7+ minute melody song with awesome orchestration and
sounds not just transferring between ears but takes you to a different world
altogether!

In his recent melodies, he works a lot on tunes and once fixed, he doesn't
disturb that melody line by adding a lot of sound layers...Like Munbe Vaa or
Marudhaani, they have a base loop that runs all through the song without any
variations.. .But still the strong melody line and the sound quality takes it
to a different level...This is the reason that one doesn't find a lot of

Shai You say you are an aspiring audio engineering student. Good to know
that. In that case, why did u start a comparision between ARR & Harris , and
say that ARR takes the credit for not doing something ?. Is that got
something to do with your earnestness to learn or master the subject of
Audio Engineering? or the motive there is to start a fight ???

You are sounding polite, but including some accusations on ARR like how they
introduce a needle in between a banana fruit.

Dont mistake me... ( I just felt that an earnest member who wants to gain
knowledge would stick only to that, and not to unwanted comparisions, or
allegations and soft accusations too ) .

2008-07-31 Thread Gomzy
Shai,

I dont understand what the fuss is all about. You as a student of sound engg
should understand this. When Krishna Chetan is credited as additional
programmer, that exactly means what he does. Why do you think he is credited
there?

ARR is credited as the "music director" or the " composer" which again means
what he does.

A movie director will have 3 or 4 assitant directors, assistant cameramen
and so on.

ARR has always worked with his team and hence credits them when appropriate.
Give me one composer who does all his work himself. Its impossible.

in the music industry...

He uses the right instruments / software loops in the songs...For youthful
commercial movies, he experiments a lot with the sound samples, loops, and
beats which will make you feel energetic... At the same time, he experiments
using live instruments for melodies that turns heavenly! Some time he does the
opposite as well that's why he is magical; example - "Naalai Ulagam" from the
movie love birds - A 7+ minute melody song with awesome orchestration and
sounds not just transferring between ears but takes you to a different world
altogether!

In his recent melodies, he works a lot on tunes and once fixed, he doesn't
disturb that melody line by adding a lot of sound layers...Like Munbe Vaa or
Marudhaani, they have a base loop that runs all through the song without any
variations.. .But still the strong melody line and the sound quality takes it
to a different level...This is the reason that one doesn't find a lot of
preludes and interludes in his recent songs whereas songs like "Anjali Anjali"
had a lot of them...

Each song is new and fresh from ARR and I love to hear each one of those
instead arguing that 90's are best etc.

And I should not forget to mention what Krishna Chetan said - "A R Rahman is
the Captain of the Ship" which would clear other allegations.

Long Live A R Rahman!

Peace,
Madhavan.R
I live in a musical kingdom and A R Rahman is the King.

exactly ,aurora,

the same thing that i hav been thinking for so long,...it all happened after
rhythm and especially after bombay dreams...although arr came wid some gud
albums like guru ,ayutha elutu(yuva) and many more.it was none like his
90's movies or before rhythm which all the songs have the breathtaking feeling
or emotional feelings in it.

just my feelings and opinion...dun get angry and just try to discuss
hereafter all its just about our guru rahman rite

im a rehman fan too...but not a Harris disliker...some of my pals
wrote that HJ was copying ARR, but its hard to agree dat. HJ is a man
with talent, no dbt abt it..but he also had some inputs durin d time
he worked withh ARR. wats wrong with thinkin alike and givin some
thing similar to his old inputs,in his own creations?..

Its true HJ sounds similar to ARR...d latest i hav noticed is d
enadhuyire from bheema..It was somethin close to ARR,but
disappointingly our maestro hav not given anythin like dat in d last
2-3yrs..nd how many really likes d way ARR treated tracks
