Re: [arr] Re: Query Regarding 5.1 rahman songs
Hi Nishant absolutely you are right... but my comparison was between MP3 stereo & MP3 surround I didnt complaint about the quality of audio CD... even tough audio CD is stereo file, the quality of the sound is good... because of high bit rates (very high) but when it comes to CD vs 5.1 (.dts format) obviously the original 5.1 sounds better, because of various output channel which gives enormous satisfaction to the listeners... regards, Kumaresh-n On 02/10/2007, Nishanth <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hi Kumaresh > > Your right when you say that these files sound better in a 5.1 > setup. But theoretically a MP3 Surround file's sound quality would be > similar to the MP3 surround file when using a good 5.1 decoder. But we > find MP3 surround to sound better in a 5.1 setup as the sound comes > through 6 speakers and in a 2 channel setup all sounds comes through > only 2 speakers,so some sounds get burried in a 2 channel setup. > > MP3 and MP3 surround are both compressed or lossy formats. This is > because when you encode from a Audio CD (1411kbps WAV format) the mp3 > encoder compresses the original file to a lower bitrate specified by > you (320,192,128kbps ect).Normal audio CDs sound good because of the > high bitrate and the uncompressed format that they use. > > Thanx > Regards > Nishanth > > --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com , > "kumar shan" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > wrote: > > > > Hi Nishant > > > > 5.1 MP3 (MP3 surround) sounds terrible than the normal stereo MP3 if you > > listen it in stereo sound system. you can only feel the difference > of the > > MP3 surround if you listen to it in any 5.1 system with the proper > output > > (speakers) itself. > > > > It is not a compressed format, those MP3 surround (5.1 MP3) actually > squeeze > > out the extra channels from the normal MP3 (stereo), obviously it will > > sounds terrible if you listen to it in the normal stereo sound system or > > headphones (because there is only 2 channel outputs). You will sense that the normal audio CD / stereo MP3 sounds better, because all of the frequency of sound are encoded in those 2 channels only. Meanwhile 5.1 MP3 have splitted those 2 channels to 6 channels (front R & L, Rear R & L, Center and LFE - Subwoofer), so, you cant listen to the sounds which redirected to the other extra channel, by listening to the track in a stereo system, it only can be listened in at least 5.1 system to get the full satisfaction. at the same time, 5.1 MP3 requires a specific player or codec to play the track with the full effects. normal players can play it (since it is a type of MP3) but it is unable to give you the real feel of the sound itself. regards, Kumaresh-n On 01/10/2007, Nishanth < [EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Hi Nithin These 5.1 MP3 songs that you are talking about are ripped from the DVD which have Dolby or DTS 5.1 sound. The basic difference between these MP3 5.1 songs and the original songs in an audio CD is that the MP3 5.1 songs have extra channels - 2 surrounds,1 center and one Low frequency channel (subwoofer). The audio CD only has 2 channels but the sound quality is better than these MP3 5.1 songs.MP3 is a lossy (compressed) format,so there is a loss in sound quality. While a audio CD has sound in a lossless format,so you get better sound quality. Also these DTS songs released on the net are ripped from DVDs don't have the sound quality of a commercially released DTS audio CD.This is because the DTS track in DVDs are encoded at a bitrate of around 768kbps while the commercial DTS audio CDs have a bitrate of 1411Kbps. So if your looking for the best 5.1 sound then DTS audio CDs and theatres with DTS/Digital sound are the best to experience them as they have higer bitrate audio when compared to DVDs. Hi Nishant 5.1 MP3 (MP3 surround) sounds terrible than the normal stereo MP3 if you listen it in stereo sound system. you can only feel the difference of the MP3 surround if you listen to it in any 5.1 system with the proper output (speakers) itself.
