I agree about Swades. I had excluded it from the list by
putting that in bracket.

Bose's songs are another case because the film had butchered
them like never before. In fact, anybody who had bothered to
see the movie came out with a feeling that if more of the
songs had been there in the movie, it would have become a
tolerable movie.

I had merely meant to bring out the fact, that I felt
that there was an experiment of a new sounds and
styles, which I reckon was more in MP and Ah Ahh,
rather than the previous soundtracks. It is not my
intention to condemn the people who have given their
 views to MP.

I was not mentioning about your condemning of other members.
But the general view in this list was that the members who
felt disappointed with MP music were:

1. given elaborate lessons on how to listen to arr's music.

2. were given assurance that the songs will grow on them.

3. were promised that once they see the picturisations of
the songs, they will start loving it.

4. were told that it is their loss.

5. were told to get lot.

Well, it has been one month since the release of music and
picturisation has also been seen. It is true that 1 to 4 did
not happen.

Hope other members will themselves take some lessons from
this and shall stop badmouthing members who give negative
comments about ARR's future releases.

I think the expectations are different. It is a
different sounding ARR that we are hearing and I for
one am trying to get used to the sound. And as I have
mentioned, I refused to see it as bad. Although that
was my first initial reaction to it on hearing both
 the two releases.

the problem is: With these new experimentations of ARR, he
is facing the resistance even from his own fans who are
attuned to his ealier sounds.

Maybe, a few words from ARR would have helped fans. If ARR
speaks or writes about what is his plan or strategy about
these new sounds, the fans would be able to see things in a
wider perspective and will sure try to get used to the
sounds the way you are doing.

I think at the end of the day, both of us have one
thing in common and that would be our undying support
for ARR. Thank you so much for your reply. : )

count on me.

However, I am extremely worried, how the current flood of
negative comments might be affecting ARR who is a very
sentimental and soft person. I pray to almightly to give him
courage to overcome this phase.

I also feel that the sudden changes might be a result of
ARR's involvement in British, Chinese, American projects. I
wish he knew where to draw the line. All those praises about
BD WOHE LOTR will become a joke if he becomes a flop and
unpopular MD in the home turf.

Everything said, the undeniable truth is that ARR HAS
BOUNDLESS TALENT. He will be able to come up.

hi nitha,
You are correct.. there is experiments in both films what's always
rahman's style, wait and see other music directors will start

Practically almost all the reviews have criticised the
songs. I do have to admit Mangal Pandey is not Lagaan.
And based on his last two releases Rising and Ah Ahh,
I feel there really is an experiment with the style.
But that's just my opinion and I don't know much about
music to begin with. I certainly feel it's just a
different sound. But being one of his ardent fans I
have just learnt to love everything he whips up...even
if it means listening to some songs that just give you
a headache. (I do admit there are one or two songs in
his last two releases that I would rather not listen
to). I really hope that his next few releases will
bring him back. It would be terrible to see him go
down now. I am really looking forward to Rang De
 Basanti and Water.

Hi Vanitha,

I am all with you in your above wish. I also wish to see ARR
rule the world of music, at home and allover the world.

However, I couldn't stop myself from noticing that you seem
to say that you are absolutely clueless what went wrong with
ARR's music in these two releases (also include bose and
most of the releases of last year, san Swades) that earned
him such bad reviews.

Thus, you are actually hoping against hope for some magic or
god's will to set things right for ARR.

I worry that this is not logical enough to happen.

I differ slightly on this. The members of this had their
antenna rightly tuned and they had sensed that MP is not
going to be a hit, nor to fetch good reviews. In fact, that
is what had led to so many arguments and fights since 14th
Jul when MP was released.

Thus, it is better if, instead of condemning a member who
writes bad words about ARR's releases, we try to find out
the views of those members what they felt missing in these
albums. That would become a useful feedback for ARR.
