I don't know how this song is picturized in the movie, but it doesn't
seem to be getting attention or in the category of "the good songs"
among reviewers. For me, it's a beauty with lots of melody and good
lyrics with exceptional singing. You just don't hear these ghazal
type numbers in bollywood songs these days since everything is about
rock and hip hop. Guess people nowadays just don't have patience with
strong melody numbers unless there is a catchy rhythm along with it.

spoiler alert:

After interval, after the will is told and Anil Kapoor inherits
everything leaving 5 crores to each of others, Salman goes back from his
dad's house to Austria. Anil Kapoor was interested in music so he comes
with Salman to pursue music. There he meets Katrina also and feels love
for her.

Somewhere around that time zindagi song is there in the movie, primarily
on Anil Kapoor.

It is broken in two parts. The second stanza is later on.

Actually, none of the songs are really "for the theme" in the movie. I
mean none of the songs is really fit for a particular scene, for a
particular set of characters, doesn't really push the story further,
isn't really "necessary" for the film.

So, after you leave the theater, you don't really have any memory of a
particular song in a particular sequence as per the importance.

So, such a treatment would harm the music in a way that no real imprint
would be left on spectators' minds. If at all, the peppy numbers like
Mastam and Shano or the romantic tu meri dost hai, would remain as a memory.

That is harming the prospect of the soft song like zindagi which didn't
have any special effect, no great graphics, etc. on it.
