You have 7 bad action value, 7 Incorrect format in the definition file,
and 7 numactions errors. I think each of the 7 filters has a bad action
and that causes the numaction error.

If necessary you might have to do the following ( *** LAST RESORT *** )

  1. Find the FilterID for each of the 7 filters.
  2. In each of the FILTER_% tables delete the records for those
FilterID(s)
  3. Re-Import the 7 filters

Hope this helps some.

Subject: Uninstall of 7.0.x client w/ Crystal may cause corruption of
MSFT apps

Hi All,

Just wanted to let you know of a new defect found with the
un-installation of the 7.0.x client that seems pretty serious. Here's
the description:

Bug Number

SW00257321

Description

Uninstall of the 7.x user tool may cause MS Office 2003 or MS Visual
Studio to stop working if the Crystal Reports option was selected at the
time of installation. The issue does not occur if you have not
installed Crystal Reports with the Windows User Tool. If Microsoft
Office 2003 or MS Visual Studio is affected, the machine must be rolled
back to a known restore point or re-imaged to repair the corruption.
This has been found to be a problem with the Business Objects Crystal
redistributable that is bundled with the user tool. The corruption
occurs when the uninstall script of the Crystal MSI is called by the BMC
Windows User Tool uninstaller.

This issue will be addressed in the short term by disabling the Crystal
Reports uninstaller in AR System 7.0.01 Patch 002 WUT uninstall script.
But the problem remains in all previous version and patches of the 7.x
user tool. In addition, an entry for Crystal Reports will still appear
in the Add/Remove software section of the Windows Control Panel.
Running the uninstall from the control panel or from a previous version
of the 7.x user tool will cause this issue to occur. BMC is working
with Business Objects to resolve this issue. Until this problem is
permanently resolved, BMC suggests that you do not uninstall the 7.x
user tool and instead, install over the top of an existing user tool.

Thanks,

On a related note, is there a way to get notified automatically when a
bug Id is created?

Not in general, unless your support case is the one that created the
defect. However, for critical issues, a technical bulletin can be
created (e.g. the DST 2007 technical bulletin). A technical bulletin is
being created for this issue, but BMC thought it important that we get
the word out informally ASAP while waiting for the Technical Bulletin to
be created and posted.

I have tried a few things but no luck so right now I am thinking of

Hi, Peter:

We've upgraded ARS 6.3 Patch 18 to ARS 6.3 Patch 20 on a Windows 2003
server, in exactly the order you have listed (AR Server, Flashboards,
Email). I assume we could've upgraded (AR Server, Email, Flashboards)
as well. We used the installer files amid much controversy of the
incomplete files listed in the FTP directory.

***NOTE**
Pay close attention to the readme file for Email, especially if you are

in the instructions.
4)To install or upgrade on windows 2003,use emaild.zip, extract it, and

By the way, we're using Mid-Tier 7.0.01 Patch 1.

All of the core forms were updated. There's too many to list here, but
to give you a general idea.
During ARSERVER update:

Re: Groups question (Remedy Support form)

2007-02-05 Thread Lucero, Michelle - IST contractor
Good Morning, Dan:

Yes. Compare $GROUPIDS$ against zAssignedGroupID, instead. When using
that keyword each group ID is preceded and followed by a semicolon,
whether it appears first or last in the list.

This section of your qual may look like:
(( $ConsoleViewBy$ = Group) AND ( 'Assigned To Group+' !=  $NULL$ )
AND ($GROUPIDS$ LIKE (( %; + 'zAssignedGroupID') + ;% )))
You may want to throw in (...AND 'zAssignedGroupID' != $NULL$)

Note:
You need to make sure that zAssignedGroupID is always updated on
Helpdesk, Change, and Task EVERYTIME the Assigned To Group field is
changed.

Thanks for the reply. We have been using the LoginServlet before with
Midtier version 6.3 and it was working perfectly. The reason why we are
using LoginServlet instead of the ViewFormServlet was that the
ViewFormServlet wouldn't work with the Portal we are using (we are calling
these links from the portal with an SSO token). The LoginServlet URL format
that worked for us before was this:

https://
https://midtier/arsys/servlet/LoginServlet?username=userpwd=SSO_token
goto=/arsys/forms/server/form_name/Online/?mode=Submit
midtier/arsys/servlet/LoginServlet?username=userpwd=SSO_tokengoto=/a
rsys/forms/server/form_name/Online/?mode=Submit

We used exactly the same format after upgrading to Midtier 7 and now it
won't work. It will simply cut off the =Submit therefore by default, it
sets the mode to Search.
Ideas?

Thanks!

Hi, Mikhail:

Try using the ViewFormServlet instead. It automatically logs the user in
and opens the form in submit mode.

http://midtier/arsys/servlet/ViewFormServlet?server=myserver
http://midtier/arsys/servlet/ViewFormServlet?server=myserverform=myformvi
ew=myviewmode=Submitusername=userpwd=password
form=myformview=myviewmode=Submitusername=userpwd=password

Tested successfully on Mid-Tier 7.0.0 P1 and Mid-Tier 7.0.01 P1.

By the way, no matter what variation of the LoginServlet I tried, it opened
in Search mode every time. Through all the versions of the Mid-Tier, I
always seem to have the most success using ViewFormServlet.

Thanks,
Michelle

Hello List
We're having problems with the goto parameter in our LoginServlet. We're
passing in the correct parameter values, however after passing it in, it
cuts of parts of the goto parameter:

The URL we want to go to:
 https://midtier/arsys/forms/remprod1/PS_Access_New/Online/?mode=Submit
https://midtier/arsys/forms/remprod1/PS_Access_New/Online/?mode=Submit

The URL we pass pass in:

https://midtier/arsys/servlet/LoginServlet?username=USERpwd=PASSWORDgoto=/
arsys/forms/remprod1/PS_Access_New/Online/?mode=Submit

As you can see, the =Submit is being cut off! What's going on?

Re: Uninstall of 7.0.x client w/ Crystal may cause corruption of MSFT apps

2007-02-05 Thread strauss
No kidding! This happened to my XP workstation in July when going from
one patch of the 7.0 User Tool to another. None of the Office 2003
applications worked afterwards. I think I reported it, but never saw any
explanation. The workstation had to be completely re-imaged. Of course,
this conflicts with the instructions that I have been given several
times over the last year from support when encountering an Admin,
Import, or User 7.0 issue, where they specifically said that I MUST
uninstall the existing client tool before installing the new version.
My application administrator's workstation is now in a similar condition
- spouting C++ errors, after uninstalling the 7.0.01 User Tool to
install 7.0.01 Patch 001. It corrupted his IE 7 installation, and is
preventing Office 2003 from applying updates. This is definitely a
serious problem.

Subject: Uninstall of 7.0.x client w/ Crystal may cause corruption of
MSFT apps

**

Thanks,

2007-02-05 Thread Lucero, Michelle - IST contractor
Hi, Claire:

Besides a visual check of the User, Group and FB forms, I compared them
between Dev and Production at the SQL level.
I checked the numFields and nextFieldId. They still match. So at the
very least no new fields were added.

And yes, a customization was lost. We increased the size of the
FB:Variable.Query field from 255 to 1000. The upgrade reverted it back
to 255. So, I do suggest that you export any core form where
customizations were made and reimport them back after the upgrade.

I will report anything else I might find.

I can connect via SQL Plus as ARAdmin.

I have my old 9i client installed, and tnsnames.ora is in the 9i

Usually each client has it's own tnsnames.ora file. Check the client
install folder\Network\Admin for a tnsnames.ora file. You may need to
copy the 9i one into the 10g folder.

***NOTE**

Pay close attention to the readme file for Email, especially if you are
on Windows 2003. The tip for the Windows 2003 users is the last step
in the instructions.

4)To install or upgrade on windows 2003,use emaild.zip, extract it, and
run setup.exe.

By the way, we're using Mid-Tier 7.0.01 Patch 1.

All of the core forms were updated. There's too many to list here, but
to give you a general idea.

During ARSERVER update:

User

Group

AR System User Preference

ARDBC LDAP Configuration

AREA LDAP Configuration

Sample forms

Home Page

Business Time Holidays

Business Time Workdays

During Flashboards update:

All of the Flashboard forms were touched

FB:History

FB:Variable

FB:Datasource, etc.

During Email Update:

All of the Email forms were touched

AR System Email Messages

AR System Email Mailbox configuration, etc.

Hope that helps,

Michelle

We have a support ticket with BMC on some questions regarding the

fully.

Has anyone who has installed Patch 20 on a Windows 2003 server (AR

installation order?

(like is it ARServer first, then Flashboards, Email etc.). We are not
concerned with User, Admin, and Alerter for this patch.

We also are looking to find out what forms will be modified as a result

Thanks for the quick reply. I pasted a copy of tnsnames.ora in the
new 10g \Network\Admin folder, but am still getting the same error.
tnsping shows the correct use of sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora, so that
looks good.

Not sure what to try next.

Make sure your old 9x client isn't in the path anymore.

Try removing your sqlnet.ora if you have one (and it's not required)

NETCMN: invalid driver means:
The login (connect) string contains an invalid driver designator.

Make sure the tnsping you're using is the 10g (related to path above)

Try setting TNS_ADMIN or TWO_TASK and verify ORACLE_HOME

good luck,

Also, the ar.conf is going to contain the oracle home directory. You also
have to make sure that arserver is seeing the 10g libs before it sees the 9i
libs; this is probably accomplished with the PATH.

How to check that the Remedy User is using a version accepted and if not, is automatically logged out?

2007-02-05 Thread Giguere, Michel

I know that with the keyword $Version$ I can validate the version that
user is running. I can then close the Remedy User application with the
Perform-Action-Exit-App Run Process action.

I have got two problems with that:

1 - On what workflow should I run that process? If it is on an Active
Link, I will have to associate it with a form. Ideally, the user should
not be able to open any form if he does not have an accepted Remedy User
version. Also, I cannot have that verification run whenever any user
open any form.

2 - On a form opened on Submit or Set, when the process runs, Remedy
will asked the user Your Changes have not been saved or sent. Do you
really want to close (...) the window? How to check that the Remedy
User is using a version accepted and if not, is automatically logged
out?

Any suggestion?

Thanks,

not do it, Create and Active Link the fires on window open. The action

javascript:window.resizeTo (width,hight);

And if you need to set the position: (zero, zero means top left of the

2007-02-05 Thread Tony Worthington
Use the Init-Form: form name parameter in ar.conf/cfg it's in the
manuals.

Attach your version workflow to this (display only) form and make sure any
fields you set on it have the change flag disabled (not sure if that's
really required as the form never displays)

You can accomplish your goal with no fields, and one AL action on open
looking at $VERSION$ $CLIENT-TYPE$ etc. You might want to exclude the
exit for Administrator group users. The IF would be the message, possibly
a push-fields or notify to log the kick-out and then your exit-app
process.

Good Morning, Dan:

Yes. Compare $GROUPIDS$ against zAssignedGroupID, instead. When using
that keyword each group ID is preceded and followed by a semicolon,
whether it appears first or last in the list.

This section of your qual may look like:

(( $ConsoleViewBy$ = Group) AND ( 'Assigned To Group+' !=  $NULL$ )
AND ($GROUPIDS$ LIKE (( %; + 'zAssignedGroupID') + ;% )))

You may want to throw in (...AND 'zAssignedGroupID' != $NULL$)

Note:

You need to make sure that zAssignedGroupID is always updated on
Helpdesk, Change, and Task EVERYTIME the Assigned To Group field is
changed.

Anybody able to use Knowledge Base search lately?

2007-02-05 Thread Ray T.

I haven't been able to search the Knowledge Base ever since the upgrade
happened on the support web site.

I have made some progress, alright. I can now at least get to the Search
Knowledge Base screen without ghastly errors. (Yippie!! How about that?)

On pressing the Search button, however, I get a new window that seems to
be loading stuff for a while, but ultimately remains blank with Error on
Page at the bottom.

I don't see anybody talking about this issue any longer. Have you guys given
up hopes of ever using the Knowledge Base...as the permanent victim of the
upgrade...or figured out the secret way to have it behave? I would want to
be in on the secret.

I am using IE 6 and Firefox 2.

Incident Management 7.0.1

2007-02-05 Thread barbourb . ctr
All,
I added a few fields to RQC:ServiceRequestWizard and to SRM:Request as
well as HPD:HelpDesk (ie Incident Management) forms. My problem is I
can get the new fields to populate the SRM:Request but for some reason I
cant find where to tell the system that these fields need to be pushed
to Incident Management. I do see the SRM:AOI:xx filters being looped
through filter guides and grabbing the Field ID's and then data into
another temp field in CAI:Event Parameters but do not see where the
system is being told which fields to grab and how it is being inserted
into the HPD:HelpDesk form. I believe I am overlooking a configuration.
If someone has already done this please let me know what I am missing.

Re: Incident Management 7.0.1

2007-02-05 Thread strauss
Be aware that Remedy support has told us that the out-of-the-box data
synchronization between SRM:Request and HPD:HelpDesk is not working
properly anyway - we are seeing about 1/3 of the incidents fail to
create matching service requests, and for a while we were seeing a very
high rate of service requests never creating incidents - leaving them
in process. This left about 30 incidents incremented without being
successfully created - the error resulted in a transaction rollback, so
the incident counter continued to advance.

The in-process problem improved after I set the private server queue for
CAI - 390627 in our case - to min 2 and max 4 and made sure that the
number of threads value in the CAI Plug-In Registry form was also 4. It
had been set at 2. The disconnect back from HPD:HelpDesk back to
SRM:Request is less obvious, and we still have a ticket open on the
overall problem.

This is on our server with Incident 7.01.003 on ARS 7.0.01. I have not
tested it yet on our Incident 7.0.02.003 on ARS 7.0.01.001 system yet,
but there shouldn't be any difference since both servers have the
application basically at patch level 003.

Anyway, even if you figure out every place in the workflow that you need
to add the value to move it back and forth between the two forms, it may
still fail to do so because of the fundamental flaw in synchronizing the
two forms. Just a warning - we are going to have to do this as well,
once the code settles a little more and actually works properly prior to
us customizing it.

There is also a windows environment variable "LOCAL" which
you may need to set/reset

Specifying a Connection by Using an Empty Connect String and the
LOCAL
Variable
You can set the connect string to an empty connect string (""),
and then set the LOCAL
environment variable to one of the following
values:
■ A direct address, as
described under "Specifying a Connection by Using Direct
Addressing" on page
4-3
■ Oracle Net keyword-value
pair
■ A tnsnames.ora entry and TNS_ADMIN is set to the location of
tnsnames.ora
■ A tnsnames.ora entry
and the following:
– tnsnames.ora file located in ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
– The ORACLE_HOME environment variable set to this Oracle home
This method allows your applications to specify internally a
connection string if the
application code itself uses an empty connection string. The
benefit of an empty
connect string is that the application itself does not need to
specify the
tnsnames.ora entry.
Instead, when a user invokes the application, the location of the
database is determined by a script or the environment, depending
on where you have
set the LOCAL environment variable. The disadvantage of using empty
strings is that
you need to configure this additional information in order for
your application to
connect to the database.

Re: Anybody able to use Knowledge Base search lately?

2007-02-05 Thread Axton

I've tried half a dozen times or so and it has failed to work at all since
the site upgrade. I've tried IE6, IE7, and FireFox 1.5.0.9.

On FireFox 1.5.0.9, I get the following when the 'Search Knowledge Database'
page is loading:
Caught Exception :o has no properties

I then try login to supportweb in IE7 and get this error as soon as I hit
the Knowledge Base link:
ARERR [9084]: User is currently connected from another machine

Useless I tells ya.

I try to get a little creative. I go back to the firefox/KB page and
manipulate the url to hit the LogoutServlet:
http://support.bmc.com/arsys/servlet/LogoutServlet

Browser returns with: You have successfully logged out

I kill all the IE sessions so the session is terminated, and I then reopen
IE7 and attempt to hit the KB again.
I am asked to relogin at the front page of supportweb, that's good, my
sessions were closed.
I perform a search and get back some results, wow, that's a first.

...hmmm, no sites are listed in my internet trusted sites.

All the newfangled IE7 fishing/whatever detectors are disabled on my
browser.

I'm doing this on a value I'm pulling from the QueryShort column from

My question is what do I put in the field parameter? Is that supposed
to be the field that is being set? One thing to note is that the field
98 no longer exists on the form referenced above. So far with all my
attempts I haven't been able to convert that into something human
readable. TIA for any help.

Difference in execution of Application-Bus-Time-Diff

2007-02-05 Thread Ankur Gulati (GR/EIL)
Hi All,

I suddenly got into a spooky situation when everything works fine and
suddenly next day you retry and things starts to act weird.

There's a filter which when passed sets a field and here's the SQL and
FLTR log excerpt for the same.

This is for the ticket coming in through mail

 0: Set Fields
 /* Tue Feb 06 2007 07:06:28.0521 */SELECT
C536870931,C1404050501,C1404051002,C1404051001 FROM T116 WHERE C1 =
'093'
 /* Tue Feb 06 2007 07:06:28.0547 */COMMIT WORK
   Application-Bus-Time-Diff 1170741900 1170741986
Silver - Major Silver - Major
   Exit code: 0 Value: 0
   Temp_Restoration_Time (1404051404) = 0

till 3 days back this would calculate the exact difference and now it
only gives me 0. Nothing changed in these few days.

Now the scary part is, when this same filter acts and pass the
qualification for another ticket, it calculates the right business time
difference and also the log shows more SQL commands:

  0: Set Fields
 /* Tue Feb 06 2007 07:01:15.0537 */SELECT
C536870931,C1404050501,C1404051002,C1404051001 FROM T116 WHERE C1 =

why it is calculating 0 in the first case? and Why is the difference
between the number of SQL calls?
