Re: Anticipated timeframe for an AR Server Upgrade?

2008-08-23 Thread Roger Justice
5.1.2 to 6 then to 6.3 then to 7. Since you left out a version it may not work.
If it did work previously time frame is difficult to know since all forms and
workflow will be touched.

Subject: Anticipated timeframe for an AR Server Upgrade?

**

Listers,

We’re upgrading our AR Server tonight from 5.1.2 to 7.0.  A direct
upgrade didn’t appear to be working so I went with 5.1.2 to 6.3.  I kicked it
off about 6 hours ago and it still appears to be steadily chugging along at the
“Upgrading the AR System Database” screen.  I did this previously on a
development environment, but kicked it off in the afternoon and came in the
next morning so I’m not sure on the actual time this normally takes.  I’m sure
hardware and database size play a role, but can anyone give me a rough estimate
for how long this normally takes? I’d like to sleep before my next birthday J

Thanks much,

George,

The attachment type are excel , or what .. in case of attachment you have to find away to map the field , i believe its fail because there is no mapping

We are being asked to move ATTACHMENTS from Remedy to the SQL database.

The word I'm getting is the SQL 2005 doesn't have a data type for an attachment and whenever we try to move an attachment over the Remedy Link to SQL, the service on the PC dies (or at least gets hung) and has to be re-started.

Has anybody done this kind of transfer?  Any hints or suggestions?  Should I abandon EIE/AIE?

What about looking in the arfork.log. That is where external commands are
logged to.

line it says no error, but the previous one says there is a failure

Fri Aug 22 16:05:59 2008 390603 : Failure while trying to run the
filter/escalation process (ARERR 24)

Run from an escalation, wouldn’t the syntax just be:

Subject: Importing file using Run Process using escalation

Hi everyone,
Has anyone had any issues trying to import a bat file using a run process
in a escalation ?
We currently run a windows environment and use remedy v7.0.1

This is the run process I am using $PROCESS$ @x:
F:\x\x\x\ImportCompFile.bat

This is the error I get on the log:

Fri Aug 22 15:17:00 2008 390603 : Failure while trying to run the
filter/escalation process (ARERR 24)
Fri Aug 22 15:17:00 2008 No error : $PROCESS$ @x:
F:\x\x\x\ImportCompFile.bat

I can run the batch file from the server and it imports the file into
Remedy, but when I try to run the batch through a run process it seems
To do nothing

Thanks !
