ARERR 9329 in Web Service Call
Hello, I haven't seen the entire thread but I doubt something like Apache CXF, or even Axis 2, would generate broken WS calls. Certainly, SOAP UI isn't the answer. I am forever telling people that SOAP UI isn't a complete testing tool, because in order to thoroughly test a WS, one needs to generate sources (Ideally using a variety of different clients and languages), and test the webservice. Why do this? The problem with webservices is that they're just too complicated, and clients will often interpret the specification in different ways. This is precisely why people are moving to straight XML messages (RESTful) over a transport mechanism such as HTTP or JMS. Indeed, our XML Gateway product embraces XML over WS, to allow easy integration with the AR System (because we assume the AR System can send an XML string through a WS call without getting that wrong!). Take the WSDL, generate some sources using Apache CXF and test the solution. That's what a client will be doing. Or, buy a proper integration product and get the job done quickly, because time is money! Remedy and DOD SSO
Hello, The AR System does not have native SSO support, and only provides a set of interfaces which you can implement at your peril (BMC provide no official support for implementations). Drag and drop SSO, which supports Siteminder: http://www.javasystemsolutions.com/movies/SSOQuickInstall1024/ You can solve the problem today. Sean From: Jason Miller jason.mil...@gmail.com To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Sent: Saturday, 1 August, 2009 9:45:01 Subject: Re: Webservice - HTTPS problem :o( ** Hi Sean, Have you tried it without using SSL to make sure that the issue is really with SSL? What I found that worked better for us was to save the WSDL and load into the filter from disk versus the remote web server. It should allow you to setup the filter and mappings offline without errors trying to make a connection. Obviously you will need to resolve the connection issues but this allows you to isolate WSDL and connection issues. You will have to do the mapping twice but you may want to try it without SSL first just to rule out WSDL issues, etc. Change the URL specified in the soap:address location= in the WSDL file. If that works set the WSDL back up for SSL (and reload/remap). It sounds like their cert is not signed by a CA trusted by your Linux box since you have to accept it. That can also cause issues if your Linux box doesn't trust the issuer of their cert. The ARS web service call cannot perform the intermediate step of accepting. Your server will need to trust the cert without that manual accepting step. You will need to add their cert to your java keystore on the ARS server. Look up KM-00020740 titled Problems loading or running a webservice from a site hosting the WSDL on an SSL webserver. in the BMC knowledgebase. Hope this helps. I am by no means a web service guru but we just went through this recently so what we did is fresh in my mind. Re: Blank Atrium Core Console
Hi Christopher, Thanks for this. The KB article identified the problem which was the atrium directory hadn't been built. I suspect that this was due to my doing an upgrade/overwrite of my 7.1 system with the 7.5 install. Thus ending up with a 7.1 directory structure rather than a 7.5. It wouldn't re-build it so I had to extract it from the zip file and build it manually. When a software is added to the CMDB there is work flow that looks for the 'contract' and increments the count by 1 of licenses used. When a software is marked as deleted, it is decremented in the contract count. That answer the count function but doesn't answer your full contract management question. I'm not sure how others are working around this. In Asset 7.5 you can have a Master contract that is the roll up of an infinite number of specific contracts. Say you have 5 contracts that are each for 5 copies of a software. You can manage expiration, renewal, etc of each at the contract level. At the master contract level you manage the count of the 25 licenses and how much they are used. Kelly Deaver kdea...@kellydeaver.commailto:kdea...@kellydeaver.com (Yes, I work for BMC. We currently use ARSPerl to load up a hash, then use the perl module 'HTML:Template' to turn that hash into an HTML file, then use HTMLDoc to turn that html into a pdfall of this is done via runprocess to the server and the file is then emailed to the person requesting the report. -Original Message- From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arsl...@arslist.org] On Behalf Of RKVKRKVK Sent: Sunday, August 02, 2009 11:55 PM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: How to generate custom reports (like html and pdf format) using BMC Remedy AR System? That error indicates that the client is able to resolve the DNS name to an IP, but that doesn't mean it's the RIGHT IPso I would run a ping on those machines to see if it returns the proper DNS record you are looking for. John, I heartily concur that the question you pose is far more interesting, but far too often management is trying to advance some agenda of its own rather than be interesting or academic. In this case, the number of maximum concurrent users and the total number of licensed users more than fits the requirements. ;-D Jennifer Meyer From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arsl...@arslist.org] On Behalf Of John Sundberg Sent: Monday, August 03, 2009 11:47 AM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: How many users are on your system? Re: Webservice - HTTPS problem :o(
If you use the offline mapping method with their WSDL saved to disk, your PC should not need to make a connection to their server. Trying to map using the URL will require a connection be made to load the WSDL definition. Offline you have have the definition and can do all the work from your admin tool/workstation. Then when you save the filter with the mappings the ARS server will make the connection to their server when the filter is triggered. Is there an ACL (Access Control List) or firewall rules setup to allow the servers to communicate where a connection can not normally be made? When trying to load their WSDL using a URL from their server your PC where the Admin Tool is running will need to have the same access to their server hosting the web service as your ARS server does. I guess if you really needed to you might be able to use an SSH tunnel from your PC to route admin tool traffic through you ARS server. By doing this your Admin tool would be using the same ACLs and/or firewall rules as the ARS server. BE WARNED!!! This may be against security policies on either side (and shouldn't be necessary if you go the loading the WSDL from a saved file route). You may want to do a little research before you go this route. Jason On Mon, Aug 3, 2009 at 2:55 AM, Sean Harrodine sean_rem...@yahoo.co.ukwrote: ** Hi Jason, Thanks also for your input. Sean -- *From:* Jason Miller jason.mil...@gmail.com *To:* arslist@ARSLIST.ORG *Sent:* Saturday, 1 August, 2009 9:45:01 *Subject:* Re: Webservice - HTTPS problem :o( ** Hi Sean, Have you tried it without using SSL to make sure that the issue is really with SSL? By default, the client will separate them by spaces. If you would like I different separator, create an active link to execute on menu select and perform a set-fields to run the function replace() to replace the spaces with what other character(s) you want. I'm not looking at the docs right now and not at work so I can't say for sure if the function is called replace but I know it exists with some name.
