Cannot load required libraries - RKM 7.2

2009-12-16 Thread Ram Rudra
Hi List,

We have moved our RKM Application to new server. I got two errors initially
after moved. First error "Database username and DB Schema does not Exist".
We have solved the first issue by pointing the RKM DB from old server to new
server.

Now we are getting another error like "There is a problem with the Remedy
connection settings: Cannot load required libraries" - attached is the
recent log.

Please help.

Thanks & Regards,

upgrading to ars 7.1

2009-12-16 Thread Ramesh (Rameshbabu) Peketi Nityananda
Hi List,

We are currently on ARS 6.00.01 patch 1420 and Midtier 6.00.01 (IIS with
servlet exec) patch 1327 with no ITSM installed.
Initially we thought of upgrading to 7.5 but later changed to 7.1 as there
are lot of new features which might not be feasible at this time.
Can I upgrade to 7.1 directly wihtout any intermediate upgrades?
Can I use the same Midtier 6 with 7.1 as our current environment is serving
different asp/perl progs which talks to remedy and we don't want to disturb
them?
If we can't use, does 7.1 supports servlet exec as I heard 7.1 defaults to
Tomcat.
Please help me if anyone has upgraded to 7.1 from 6.

Ramesh.

Re: CMDB Discovery 1.6

2009-12-16 Thread Adam Propeck
It's trying both port 22 (ssh) and port 23 (telnet). Usually sys admin's
aren't leaving telnet running or open as often these days, so port 22 is
most likely the only *real*option. Because ssh is working, you're getting
the CI's to update correctly. You can either safely ignore those messages,
or configure the discovery for "ssh only" in the method section instead of
"both" if you know you aren't going to be needing telnet.

See here on
page 271. (may require a bmc login)

RPC Port for reconciliation engine - ARERR[120133]

While investigating some errors in my

Anyway, is my assumption correct that
until I put the reconciliation engine on 390698 or 390699, it will use
the fast/list queues?

Re: View form from Oracle based AR system to remote MS SQL server

2009-12-16 Thread Joe D'Souza
Column, table, view names in Oracle by default is case insensitive.. If you
notice, Oracle stores all its meta data in upper case, and yet you can write
a perfectly legal SQL query to Oracle in lower case and it will work.

On the other hand, MS-SQL in my past experience with it, is case sensitive
when referencing the same names..

Then I guess again it depends on how your two databases have been setup..
Try issuing queries in MS-SQL's query analyzer using mixed or the opposite
case and check your results.. And implementing the solution in the article
below will not really alter your tables or your data, so it may be worth
trying. You may need to restart MS-SQL or run RECONFIGURE.. or run
RECONFIGURE and then restart..

CMDB Discovery 1.6

2009-12-16 Thread Kathy Morris
Hi All
I thought I understood, but now I am totally confused.

In my discovery report it says
I am discovering Linux/Solaris thru SSH. The report says Port 23 was
skipped and shows me IP Address XYZ. Then I look at the same IP address later
in the report and it shows that it updated the CI.

How could this be if the port was skipped? How could the CI update if the
port was skipped? I am thinking these skipped ports are an issue.

Looks like the process is trying to start on a port that's already in use.

It's either the ars one, or the java one.

In your ar.conf/cfg -- Plugin-Port: 1

If that's not the one there should be a file... pluginsvr_config.xml that lists
the port the plugin server binds to.

Run a netstat (or Solaris equivalent) to find out what process is on what port,
pick which one to change.. :-)

One possibility is that you could even have a copy of the Java plugin server
running - i.e., it didn't stop correctly when the AR server was stopped
previously. You could determine that by running the following command with the
Remedy processes stopped:

ps -ef | grep -e java

That will list all Java processes running on the system. You could look at the
command line arguments to try to determine if one of them looks like it would
be the plugin server. If it is, kill it, and then try restarting Remedy.

We have installed a new server and can start Remedy with out issue,
however we start getting errors right after the arserverd starts. The
error seems to be related to the java plugin and that is keeps failing to
start up.

Here is what keeps displaying

>AR Plugin Server Startup Error Address already in use

Looks like the process is trying to start on a port that's already in use.

It's either the ars one, or the java one.

In your ar.conf/cfg -- Plugin-Port: 1

If that's not the one there should be a file... pluginsvr_config.xml that
lists the port the plugin server binds to.

Run a netstat (or Solaris equivalent) to find out what process is on what
port, pick which one to change.. :-)

Re: server name references

2009-12-16 Thread Barnhill, Jason (Jason)
Aw heck, I totally flaked on this one! I rechecked ar.conf, I had set
the general server name, but I had missed a plugin alias entry:

Server-Plugin-Alias: REMEDY.ARDBC.SERVER.ADMINISTRATION
REMEDY.ARDBC.SERVER.ADMI

NISTRATION server:port

So of course with that connecting to the plugin server on server 1, I
was getting server info from server 1...!

Much thanks for all your fast responses, it is now working properly.
Even with this issue it was faster/easier than running the 7.5
installer!

This is version 7.5 on Solaris with Oracle db. We had much trouble with
the Remedy 7.5 installer, I really don't like it at all... that's why we
decided to try doing a copy instead. Yes, we are pointing to a
different db name, I have altered data and confirmed that it is pointing

Re: server name references

2009-12-16 Thread Martinez, Marcelo A
Jason,
I know your environment is different but use this as a reference...
I have done the copy successfully in the past using ARS 7.1 and Windows/SQL
shop. I also refresh my DB after each project.
My conf:
PROD:
ARS 7.1 (server is remedy01)
DB SQL2005 (server is dbserver01. Db is ARSYSTEM)
ITSM 7.03
DEV:
ARS 7.1 (server is remedy02)
DB SQL2005 (server is dbserver02. Db is ARSYSTEM)
ITSM 7.03

Besides editing the AR.CONF file, I went thru the windows registry and edited
every item that referenced "remedy01" and changed it to "remedy02". Don't
forget to also edit the ARMONITOR.CFG file as well.
You may also have to edit configuration files under: C:\Program Files\AR
System\Mid-Tier\WEB-INF\classes

Also, you will need to contact BMC to get another license key.. you will notice
that the hostID has changed. Then, every time you refresh the DB, you will have
to apply this new license key. (keep it handy).

I know your environment isn't the same.. but hopefully this helps a bit more.

Marcelo

However, when I start server 2 and access Server Information and Add/Remove

what server name reference(s) I am still missing? Is there another file, or
some data reference in the database? This is the first time we've tried to run

Hey Pritch,

This is version 7.5 on Solaris with Oracle db. We had much trouble with
the Remedy 7.5 installer, I really don't like it at all... that's why we
decided to try doing a copy instead. Yes, we are pointing to a
different db name, I have altered data and confirmed that it is pointing
to the correct, different database...

Thanks,

Re: Old fields staying in new view SOLVED

2009-12-16 Thread Martin, Robert
Thanks, Joe and Tauf, for your suggestion.

The big surprise was that when I opened the new view in the Admin tool this
morning, all the offending fields appeared in the view, and I am quite sure I
saved the view yesterday. So I removed them, then just to be sure, I put them
back and removed them again, and now they are gone (I HOPE for good).

Thanks again,
Dwayne

**
Dwayne,
I've had something similar happen and the only way I resolved it was adding the
field again in the admin tool, saving it, and then removing it, and saving it
again...

I understand - I was just cross checking..

I have solved similar problems like this (not exactly the same problem) by
redoing stuff that may force a definition recache..

So since you are saying you did remove the fields from the view, try putting
them all back, save the form, recache both the client and the mid-tier.. Make
sure that the view is as messy as hell with your new actions - both on the
thick and thin client.. then tidy it up, make it pretty and save it..

Sounds funky I know but may work in your case..

When the system starts beating you down - give it some beating back :-)

Joe,

Thanks for your suggestion.

I am launching the view from a button that calls an Active Link, and in that
Active Link I am picking the view name from the menu, so I don't think I am
mis-spelling it. Also, the fact that when I change the location of one of the
view's fields, I see the location change in the display, is pretty good
evidence that I have the right view. Also the Active Link log shows the
"Window Open" selecting the correct view.

Are you displaying the right view in the User Tool or the Mid-Tier? Check your
User Tool 'Options' to make sure you are opening the right view. Do not
misspell the view name or it will open the Default view.

Also make sure you are opening the right view in the mid-tier.. How are you
doing that? Directly using a URL or using workflow? Check the view spelling
there too.

Dear List,
I have a display-only control panel form. I selected a view, and copied it to
a new view, then removed the fields that I didn't want from the new view. But
when I display the new view, in either the User tool or Mid-tier, the fields
are still there. If I look at the "Fields in view" for the new view, the
unwanted fields aren't there, and if I go to the old view and look at the
"Views" tab for these fields, it doesn't show them appearing in the new view.

I've cleared the cache, and if I change the location of one of the fields that
are supposed to be there, the field appears in its new position, so it doesn't
seem to be a caching issue.

Any idea what is going on?
