Re: RRR|Chive and AR Archiving

Viswa,

I can't speak to the speed of it, but you could turn on logging to see
what's causing the hangup..RRRChive works relatively well, and has the
option of turning off workflow on destination server/form, so that might
speed some things up.

Hi,

I wanted to Archive about 2000k Records from the ServiceRequest form (Custom
Ticketing form with 473 fields) that are created since year 2000.

When i tried with AR Archive functionality (Form Properties\Archive tab) it
took about 3.5 Hrs for 30k records (around 110 Records\Min).

If that is the Case i would need 570+ hrs to complete this Archive Process.

If any of you have used RRR|Chive Already, Can i get some of this questions
answered please:

I think RRR|Chive tool could do this Archiving faster then AR Archive, is it
true?

Like to check with any of you used RRR|Chive for Archiving thousands of
records; Any Specific gotchas to note for ?

What would be the rough expected Archive time for thousand Records(1k) in
RRR|Chive for the form with 500 Fields?

Is it good to run the RRR|Tool in the ARS Server ? or the Client side like
ARS User?

Any information about RRR|Chive tool will also helpful.

Also, Is there any Tuning like (Tread size) can improve the AR Archive
Performance?

I am trying to find a relatively easy way and get a rough Estimate for
Archiving 2000k records.

THANKS in advance,

It looks like (from the error you are receiving) that the Active Directory is
requiring SSL and certificates. Your AD administrator should check to see if

Re: Can AR System 7.1 connect to Oracle 11G logical standby

2010-08-13 Thread Geoffrey Endresen
Our current configuration in a server group with 9 application servers to
one oracle database that has primary DB and a physical standby DB.
This is configured with Fast Start Failover and it's currently at 10gR2,
let's call it Remedy4DB

We are building a 3rd host as a logical standby of the same DB, but it's
running 11G.
Our plan is to keep it as a logical standby of the original BD but give it a
different name like, say Remedy5DB, that is read-only ARADMIN tables.

The idea (not implemented) is build a remedy application sever that connects
to Remedy5DB with some licensing tables with synonyms to read-write tables
as needed

Re: Can AR System 7.1 connect to Oracle 11G logical standby

2010-08-13 Thread Axton
Couple of potential issues I see:
- All tables need a primary key; does remedy create tables that meet this
requirement?
- Some data types are not supported
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/data_support.htm#i637080

Nothing impossible to work around, just needs some research and planning.

Updating Service CI name

2010-08-13 Thread Ramey, Anne
My management wants to rename a service CI that's been used for a very active
service for quite a while. It is associated with tens of thousands (if not
hundreds of thousands) of tickets. The name change fails and it appears from
system messages that it is reaching the top of the filter stack (we have this
set to 10,000). I don't think doing the same action via escalation will help
at all. It's not as if the name change happened and just didn't update all the
association. The name change itself never completes. Is there no way to
change the name of a CI that is associated with large numbers of tickets?

2010-08-13 Thread Easter, David
No, it would not.

Crystal Reports / BOE is not being replaced. It will continue to be supported
by AR System as well as being an integral part of the BMC Analytics offering.

If you are, perhaps thinking of the enhanced web reporting feature to be part
of AR System 7.6.03, that is an enhancement to the existing embedded reporting
capabilities of AR System (i.e. the currently text-only reporting
capabilities). It is not intended to "replace" Crystal Reports / BOE. While
it is the case that TSM OOTB reports will begin using the embedded web
reporting engine instead of creating OOTB Crystal-based reports in ITSM 7.6.03,
that is being done to reduce the economic burden on customers wanting basic web
reporting capabilities from AR System and ITSM and nothing else. In other
words, for basic web reporting, they can now use an embedded engine that meets
their basic needs without additional configuration or cost. Business Objects
Enterprise Premium is able to meet those needs as well but much of the power of
Business Objects is not utilized if its only usage is to display OOTB ITSM
reports and nothing else.

Conversely, customers who will fully utilize something like BMC Analytics or
Business Objects are certainly encouraged to invest in them (or continue to use
what they have) to meet their more extensive business needs.

Re: arcache

2010-08-13 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
According to page 296 of Configuring-710.pdf
arcache {-U|-G}{a|d} -e [-g ] [-i ]
[-c ] [-q <"computed_group_qualification">]
[-t ] [-lw ] [-m ][-n ]
[-p ] [-s ] [-x ] [-d]
[-u ] [-r ]

-s
Specifies the name of an individual AR System server to distribute your
change to. This option is required.

Atul,
Try adding the -d option to turn on debugging and move the -s option to just
before the -e. Also (just to be picky) put in a space after the -g (maybe it
is complaining that -s is not a valid group).
   arcache -Ua -n "aaa" -p "" -s servername -e "009" -lw 1 -g "1;"

This is the example from page 298 of the manual.
   arcache -Ua -eTEMP999 -lw 1 -n "TEMPADMIN" -p"" -s bentley -g "1;"

Hi,

Pre 7.x, I was able to use the following arcache command to create remedy admin
account (aka Demo):

arcache -Ua -n "aaa" -p "" -e "009" -lw 1 -g"1;" -s servername

But now on a 7.1 server it is failing with the following message:
Message not in catalog; Message number = 9907 (ARERR 9907)
  -s

It is complaining about -s option. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

ITSM 7.x +SRM w/ multiple outgoing mailboxes

2010-08-13 Thread Eli Schilling
Hey list,

I was wondering if anyone had attempted to integrate multiple, outgoing
mailboxes with the OOTB notification engine in ITSM 7? We are looking
at the possibility of having different outgoing mailboxes for customers
and support personnel. Seeing as how everything goes via the same
notify filter, I can only surmise that workflow would need to be
injected earlier in the process to designate a particular outgoing
mailbox.

Thanks all, have a great weekend!

ARDBC LDAP issue

All,

Has anyone encountered the following error?

Cannot connect to the directory service : Strong authentication required

requires binds to turn on integrity checking if SSL\TLS are not already

We're trying to connect to Active Directory. The Remedy configuration

RRR|Chive and AR Archiving

2010-08-13 Thread viswa kumar

I am trying to find a relatively easy way and get a rough Estimate
for Archiving 2000k records.

THANKS in advance,

Platform: ARS 7.0.01 P010
OS : HP-UX
DB : Oracle 10.2 64bit

Thanks,
Viswa.

Re: Java 7.1 API with ARS 7.0.01

2010-08-13 Thread Axton
java.library.path is something you define as an argument when you run java.

http://www.coderanch.com/t/377174/java/java/java-library-path

The easiest
(and sloppiest) way to get this working is to place the .dll files included
with the remedy api in the system32 directory. You can do this differently
as well by placing the native libs somewhere and updating the PATH env var
on windows to include that path. You can also set the java.library.path
parameter for your jvm.

RESOLVED: Issue with Menu selection values

2010-08-13 Thread Chowdhury, Tauf
Fred,
Thanks. This was the issue. I was trying to do the entire calculation within 1
set fields action. When I broke up the actions into multiple set fields
actions, the AL worked correctly on the Mid Tier.

It would be interesting to know from the guru's as to why this is. Is it a bug
or some sort of design that I'm not seeing. The fact that it works in the WUT
and not the MT leads me to believe it's a java issue?

Thanks again Fred.

Are you setting the integer and doing the addition in the same AL Set Fields
action or are you setting the integer from the selection field and then in
another action doing the addition?

If you are using only 1 action try breaking it up into 2 separate actions.

Thanks Brien. What would be the alternate? Would I have to create active links
that translate the alias value to a number then using an AL guide?
Anyone else have any ideas?

It could be the midtier is working with the alias value (char), not the
number-- for some reason this sounds familiar.

List,
Here's the issue. I have a bunch of drop down menus. The alias value is a word
and each has a corresponding Selection value and ID which is a number. So
High,Med,Low alias values would be 3,2,1 respectively.
I have an active link on a button which then sets an Integer field with the
number value and adding the values from each selection drop down.
In the WUT, I have no issues. However, using the mid tier, I get an error: Data
types are not appropriate for arithmetic operation (ARERR 9339)

Should I be using a different field instead of an integer?

I am running ARS and Mid Tier 7.1

Re: Java 7.1 API with ARS 7.0.01

2010-08-13 Thread LJ LongWing
I grabbed mine out of the 7.5 install once it was installed...so I know its
included in the Jar files that come with the installerI think the
easiest would be to install Dev Studiothat'll give it to you.

2010-08-13 Thread Ravi-RG
Hi LJ,
If i am using the JAVA API, what are all the environment variables need to

Making them not available will prevent them from being visible in the group you
add them to, they may still receive notifications

Making them incident master is best but has wider implications

I dont want to add them to other groups, adding them to other grooup would mean
they will see all the the other groups tickets in their support console and

You could add them to the other group or give them Incident Master
permissions.  I find this utility very helpful when defining roles and
permissions.

Hello everyone,

I have two Help Desk support groups and want to allow the members of one group
to modify tickets of the other group. Is there anyway you can configure ITSM to
allow you to do this without having to modify any workflow?

Thanks
