Re: Log File Editor....

2011-11-07 Thread Theo Fondse
I use either baretail or Notepad++ (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/) for most log
files and have created a Notepad++ user defined language descriptor for some
Remedy related files a couple of years ago.
This colour-codes the files for easy reading.
The following files are included:
Remedy .Def
Remedy .Cfg
Remedy .Log
Remedy .Arr
Remedy .Arq
Remedy .Arm

Notepad++ can also auto-detect file changes and prompts you to reload the file
once you bring it into focus.
You can also force it to reload an open file with two mouse clicks.
Old log entries can also be removed without having to switch off the logging in
Remedy. (This way you keep the log file small manageable whilst debugging a
process.)

To configure Notepad++ to use this:
1. Add the userDefineLang.xml file to the Notepad++ install dir
2. Disable the use APPDATA setting
3. Restart Notepad++

HTH...

Theo

Thanks Kelly!

Yes, this is also possible. Thanks for the reminder!
I had problems with this method on the first version of Notepad++ I used and
therefore reverted to the APPDATA setting method, but I suppose that those
issues have long been resolved with all the versions that have been released
since then :-)

epoch to date\time via sql

2011-11-07 Thread Joran, Peter CTR WHS/ITMD/CACI
All
I am in the process of building a view (SQL Server 2008 R2) to use with
Dashboards. The view needs to convert enumerated values to text values and
epoch time (integer) to Date or Date\Time.
The Case function works well and is not an issue. However, the Epoch time
conversion has proven elusive. The Dashboards documentation has an Oracle
example but not one for SQL Server.

Here is what I've tried that has come close.
C3 is the create date in my test form.

SELECT DATEADD(s,C3,'19700101')
FROM ARSystem.dbo.T2677

2011-10-20 11:40:14.000 Not bad except I'm unable to drop the seconds and
the AM is missing.

SELECT LEFT(DATEADD(s,C3,'19700101'),21)
FROM ARSystem.dbo.T2677

Oct 20 2011 11:40AM Close but no cigar. Note that adding LEFT changed the
date format.

Any idea how to drop the seconds and add the AM\PM in the first query?

Many thanks!
Pete

ITSM 7.6.4 Email Templates

2011-11-07 Thread Sanford, Claire
Anyone have any good suggestions for creating an email template for the Work
Order in ITSM 7.6.04

When I export the email template it gives me a lot of blank fields (I
understand what they are) and it gives me several fields that are duplicated
and it doesn't give me some of the necessary fields.

Should I just create my own template that has the fields I know are needed to
create a WO?

Claire have I asked this already? Sanford

Re: Log File Editor....

2011-11-07 Thread Logan, Kelly
I agree with Brian as well - UltraEdit was my editor of choice for the better
part of a decade (if my current employer agreed, I'd still be using it ;^). In
addition to the macros, and it's language highlighting (I programmed a Remedy
version as well), I have found the column mode incredibly useful (when active,
you can cut and paste using columns, instead of the usual word editor use of
rows, so if you want to, say, add five characters in the middle of every line,
it's a snap).

Re: Log File Editor....

2011-11-07 Thread Brian Goralczyk
I would be glad to provide it, but I haven't actually created a language
file. I haven't had a problem with the coloring that is natural, but maybe
I will do that soon. Might make it a little easier.

If anybody would like to throw in some input, I wouldn't complain.

Kelly,

I don't let me company control if I use UltraEdit. I buy it myself every
once in awhile. I am too oriented to it to just give it up.

Note that rather than changing your APPDATA setting, you can instead go to

then import your .xml file. Setting the Language to your Remedy entry then

3. Restart Notepad++

UltraEdit can, I believe. I know it can use (s)ftp to transfer files and I

I use either baretail or Notepad++ (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/) for
most log files and have created a Notepad++ user defined language
descriptor for some Remedy related files a couple of years ago.

This colour-codes the files for easy reading.

 The following files are included:

 Remedy .Def

 Remedy .Cfg

 Remedy .Log

 Remedy .Arr

 Remedy .Arq

 Remedy .Arm

 ** **

Notepad++ can also auto-detect file changes and prompts you to reload the
file once you bring it into focus.

You can also force it to reload an open file with two mouse clicks.

Old log entries can also be removed without having to switch off the
logging in Remedy. (This way you keep the log file small manageable
 whilst debugging a process.)

 ** **

To configure Notepad++ to use this:

 1. Add the userDefineLang.xml file to the Notepad++ install dir

 2. Disable the use APPDATA setting

 3. Restart Notepad++

** I use UltraEdit. You can create a language file for AR log files if
you wished. As well as it has some great macro functionality. I have
macros that remove an entries that didn't perform work which makes the log
file MUCH easier to use. It also allows javascripts also, but I haven't
 done much with that.

There is also a tool out there called Jedit and it is written in java and
might allow interface with the Remedy API which would allow some really
 impressive stuff to

Oh, yes - the ability to register a site's ftp login and edit files directly
without the extra down/up load steps is also a pleasure, particularly for doing
quick website work.

** UltraEdit can, I believe. I know it can use (s)ftp to transfer files and I
know it can monitor the files that it has open to see if they change. I
honestly have to say I don't recall trying to monitor a unix file through ftp
but I am fairly confident that it can.

Thanks Theo.

I was thinking it was an xml file created by Remedy? I missed your earlier
post.

Thanks again!

I'm somewhat new to Remedy and I've been introduced to Notepad++; great tool.
I'm curious about the xml file discussed below (userDefineLang.xml file); where
do I find this file?

Trying out Notepad++, thanks Theo.

Note that rather than changing your APPDATA setting, you can instead go to
View - User Defined Dialogue... Use 'Create New' to create a Remedy entry,
then import your .xml file. Setting the Language to your Remedy entry then
provides the highlighting you created.
