Re: How can I load a form into a view field

2013-03-25 Thread itsm.support
Hi,

You can perform below action with View Field by ensuring following points:

· Set the text property with the url of the specific form whatever you
find in mid tier.

· In BMC Remedy User and a browser, contents of a view field do not
load automatically when user opens a form.

To display the initial value in application, perform one of these steps:

· Select the view and set Default property to True (governs New mode),
and set user preferences to “Set Fields to Default Values” in New and Search
modes in the AR System User Preference form.

· You can also set these user preferences in BMC Remedy User by
choosing Tools > Options and selecting the Behaviors tab of the Options dialog
box.

Additionally, You can use a Active Link Set Fields action to set the view field
value to $DEFAULT$ when the form opens. In this case, set the execute on
condition to Window Loaded.

Disable Resize of Display Only Form

2013-03-25 Thread Mohamed Abdelaziz
Is there a way to prevent a display only form "Dialog" mode from being
resized? Is there a way to just keep the "x" button to close the form and
disable the minimize and maximize buttons as well as disableling the ability
to resize the form? I looked at the properties of the form as well as the
menu access and I don't think I came across any property that may achieve
this.

Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: Running many (different) Crystal Rpts from same dataset.. pls back me up!

2013-03-25 Thread Stroud, Natalie K
Alan:

How many records is your query pulling on average and what you have set for the
max number of records that can be returned on the server? If your way lets you
get around the record limit set on the server, that's an argument in favor of
doing it your way.

Is your CSV created and do your reports run during standard business hours or
after hours? Depending on those answers, there's a potential argument there in
terms of not impacting performance from your users' perspective.

Do you know what's at the heart of your management's concern about data
"purity"? I mean, have you ever had them define their concern really, really
specifically and tie it to a specific business concern in the present as
opposed to a vague concern caused by some weird problem that they pulled their
hair out over 15 years ago trying to solve that they still remember?

If it's a case of a couple of records being in the system that aren't in your
.csv, due to a time lapse between when the CSV is created and when the reports
are created, is there some compelling business reason why management can't wait
for the next run of the reports to see those few records or else just check the
production system?

If you can get a concrete sense of their concern, you could always lay out ALL
the pros and cons of both ways and ask, "Is this measly X records per week that
you're concerned about *really* worth all the things we would have to have to
trade (or risk) in order to get that?" Sometimes people need a little help to
see the tradeoffs.

Good luck!

Re: License considerations for custom approval process

2013-03-25 Thread Axton
Technically you can work around the license issue by using a display only
form that accepts records from the approvers and uses filters to perform
the actions on the back-end. Conceptually, this allows writes to data by a
user that is not licensed, but technically a hand-off occurs that takes the
transaction outside the scope of the end user, thus avoiding the license
check. Legally, this may be a violation, and I am certain it can be argued
both ways, but in the end such a thing is at BMC's discretion to state
whether this would be considered a license violation. Ask your support
provider if this is a violation; send them a sample def that executes
according to the model outlined; let them hash it out and get back to you.

Hi,

Looks like you have a mixture of short name and FQDN in the configuration.
This generally confuses the plugin server.

Check the configuration in the AR config file and in the plugin server
configuration and ensure that all references to the server for the Pentaho
Plugin are the same (generally short name with no domain information) e.g.
"CIDCSWDREMAPP3".

You will also use them if you need to modify the weights and other config

Running many (different) Crystal Rpts from same dataset.. pls back me up!

2013-03-25 Thread Alan Truelove
I am running 6 Crystal Reports (70 of each) from the same SQL dataset (saved as
a CSV text file) extracted from Remedy (using API, and getting only the 11
fields I need (out of 160..) and 1 week's worth of data out of several years..
This works just fine.
Management insists that going to the original database for each of the 420
reports is somehow 'purer' (takes much much longer...)
Any comment welcome, in confidence of course...

There are better ways in 7.6.04 than that, it is special open window
actions with a view field as the target, much better than the old setfield
method

Re: How can I load a form into a view field

2013-03-25 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

It is unfortunately not obvious how to do this.

What you do is an Open Window action.

Target Location should be set to , and then you must specify something
like VF536870913, wher "VF" is a fixed string, and the number is the field id
of your view-field.

Easy, right ;-)

Re: How can I load a form into a view field

2013-03-25 Thread Andre, Jacques
Hi Angus,

To load a form into a view field, you need to do a "Setfield" operation with
the view field as the target.

If you just want to load an empty form then use the syntax

http:///arsys/forms//

If you want to open a form in the view field and load a specific record, then
you will need to use a direct access URL.

http:///arsys/servlet/ViewFormServlet?form=&server=&qual=

This is covered in the BMC Remedy Mid-Tier guide for 7.6.4 on page 78

Hope this helps.

I have a button which when clicked I want to load a Remedy form into the view
