Re: AD-People Integration
Hi, You have specified a root Base DN, this will traverse the whole AD tree - which could be causing your issue as it will perform effectively an un-qualified search (or an equivalent of an DB full table scan). When using Vendor forms with AD, be as specific as you can for the part of the Active Directory that you want to obtain information from by utilising the correct Base DN parameters. This will limit the search and thus the time it takes to search for the information. Using a tool such as ldp.exe in Windows will help you specifically target the area of the AD tree you are searching in (or ask your AD Admin) - thus limiting the time it take to return results and not cause plug-in timeouts. E.g. OU=Service Users,OU=User Accounts,DC=corp1,DC=ad1,DC=mps,DC=net Look at also using a Filter to do the work (triggered from an Escalation) and not directly from an Escalation that will always do a full table scan. _ Kind Regards, Carl Wilson http://www.missingpiecessoftware.com/ From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arslist@ARSLIST.ORG] On Behalf Of Rudra Kamat Sent: 05 August 2013 05:30 To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: AD-People Integration ** Hi Sandra, My LDAP configuration is correct, otherwise vendor form would not be created, and I can get all the data in vendor form. ARSList Award Voting Time - Round 2
Ok folks, round 2 for MVP (BMC Beyond the call is still accepting votes)here is how Round 2 works. Our field has narrowed from 9 to 3. Your top 3 MVP's this year are David Easter Frederick W Grooms Jason Miller So...here is how it will work, you can still cast your vote for your pick 1st-3rd, or just 1st as some of you chose to do in round 1. If you already cast a vote, your vote still stands, but you can choose to change it if you want. If you chose to vote like this (an actual vote BTW) 1 - Tauf 2 - Jason 3 - Carl here is what I'm doing with that...Tauf and Carl are no longer in the pool, so I take their names off, and Jason slides into first place vote for this person. If you voted for 3 people that are no longer eligible, your MVP vote has been nullified, and you are encouraged to vote again. Both Doug and Ryan are still the only two Beyond the Call nominees, and you can still vote for them if you haven't already...but I won't be accepting changes to this vote. Soyou know who you voted for...any vote for the remaining 3 nominees is automatically carried over to the next round...but you can change that if you so choose... Lets pick an MVP folks :) On Mon, Jul 22, 2013 at 2:16 PM, LJ LongWing lj.longw...@gmail.com wrote: It is now time to VOTE for this years ARSList MVP and BMC Beyond the Call. His nomination this year specifically called out his knowledge on SRM and ITSM. *Clair Sanford* - Clair is a staple of the ARSList, both asking questions and answering other peoples questions. Her nomination this year didn't call out any specific areas of expertise, but instead discussed her general knowledge and willingness to help anyone. *David Easter* - David is an ever present authority an all things Remedy. His nomination this year discussed his in depth knowledge of documentation, quite often with links to the official BMC pages. His posts are always thought out and detailed in nature. *Frederick W Grooms* - A modern day renaissance man, Fred's nomination this year speaks to a man of many talents from workflow and upgrades to OS issues and more. He often provides details that obviously require investigation and work on his end before responding. *Jason Miller* - Often the purveyor of arcane knowledge, Jason is willing to help people both on and off list. His nomination this year stated that Jason is so helpful in so many areas that it's hard to pinpoint specific areas of specialty. *Laurent Matheo* - Laurent is new to the ARSList, but not new to Remedy. Re: Consuming a WebService with XML Payload in ARS 8.1
When passing XML inside a payload it is always recommended to enclose it inside a CDATA structure. ARS works with fully typed XML and I believe that the documentation lists that the any construct is not supported. Configuring Emails
Hello, I have a few questions regarding emails. 1. I have gone through the Email Engine guide and have not been able to find out how to add additional fields to an outgoing email. I would like to add additional fields that are not currently available in the Email Message Body dropdown to the notifications in SYS:Notification Messages. Ideally, I would like to map the Notes or the Detailed Description from the service request to the email body. 2. I want to configure my emails to create a work order/incident depending on keywords submitted in an email. Any help would be great. Re: Configuring Emails
BMC in their infinite wisdom decided to make this as close to hell as possible to modify. You will need to make sure the field you want to add to your email is in 3 different places, then and only then will it show up in the drop down list. (if you are lucky) 1) NTE:SYS-NT Process Control - make sure the field is here with the same field ID as in the form (HPD:Help Desk) 2) NTE:NPC:GetNotificationMessage_231 , 232, 233, 234 etc.. - map the field here 3) SYS:Notification Messages - Field should be in the drop down. Why they couldn't let us add fields like $FieldName$ I don't know!! Approver Mappings
Windows 2008 r2 Oracle 11g ARS 8.1 ITSM 8.1 Change Management - Pending state with the status reason of Approval Error When a Change Request Status is set to Pending and the Status Reason is Approval Error - is there a way to make the request actionable? Using the Process Flow Status ribbon, the user can slect Resume. The change appears to move to the next Status but it doesn't. I have found several reasons why the change may be Pending state with the status reason of Approval Error but nothing to recover the Change Request. Any assistance is appreciated. Re: Approver Mappings
Do you have logging turned on for your Approval Server? If not crank up the logging and look in approval.log or a message that says something to the effect of no approvers could be found. Hot fix SW00449426 helped us with a situation in 8.0 where people were being removed from CTM:People and it was setting the Assignment Availability to No on our approval mappings. The result was the same thing you noted where a CRQ cannot move past the approval error. Once the Assignment Availability is was back to Yes in the mappings the CRQs could then move forward. Here is more info: https://communities.bmc.com/message/317983 There is also some info on a customization that allows CI attributes to determine the next approver :) Jason On Mon, Aug 5, 2013 at 12:49 PM, Hennigan, Sandra sandra.henni...@usdoj.gov wrote: ** Windows 2008 r2 Oracle 11g ARS 8.1 ITSM 8.1 ** ** Change Management - “Pending state with the status reason of Approval Error” ** ** When a Change Request Status is set to Pending and the Status Reason is Approval Error – is there a way to make the request actionable? You can use the Search menu item. I don't remember if field ID's require you to have Record-Object-Relationships turned on or not. Re: Approver Mappings
Sandra, there are couple of reasons why this could happen, and I see you mentioned trying couple of things.. These issue generally stem in the approval process configuration you have over there. If you are using custom approval process then try to use the OOB approval process that comes with installation. Is this happening to Normal, Standard, Latent or all of them? you can narrow down by this.. If you are facing this problem with couple of CRQs then try to export them and change the status and reimport to get rid of them.. However if this is happening to all the CRQs you submit then check the Approval Process Configuration. Hope this helps. -Kunal Thanks, Kunal. Re: Searching for a Field ID in Dev Studio
Yes, if the field is in the view. Press CTRL+F or click Edit - Find/Replace. Select the Field ID radio button. [image: Inline image 1] If field is not in the view then you need to browse through the outline. *NOTE*: For some reason Modified Date always turns up in the search so you might need to click Find one more time to find the field you are really looking for. NTE:Notifier and NTE:Notifier Log Forms
Windows 2008 r2 Oracle 11g ARS 8.1 ITSM 8.1 So I was troubleshooting an issue that caused me to search the NTE:Notifier and NTE:Notifier Log Forms. I had expected NOT to find any records in either form except where there might be an error on the record. I thought (and the Delete Filters, NTE:NTS:Delete_800 and NTE:NTL:Delete_795 confirm) that there should not be any records. Except I found over 48,000. Do I just delete the records? What are the implications/complications of leaving them other than increasing the size of the database? Issues to be aware of if I delete them? How do I get the delete filters to function?
