Re: Process Designer ITSM 8.1

2014-07-17 Thread John Peters
Hi,

In my infinite wisdom, i decided to get the server up to 8.1.01 and the
mid tier to 8.1.01.P1

Bad decision, the upgrade said it had failed on the server and its been
rolling back transactions all evening, it also decided to remove the email
service ..[?]

So looks like going to have to install all over again

 Hi,

PD will work on 8.1 or 8.0 with no issue, you just require the Mid-Tier
Hotfix if using the latest PD version 8.3.04 - this does not require you to
 update the whole ARS/ITSM system.

Alternately, you could install a later version of the Mid-Tier that would
 include the Hot-Fix e.g. 8.1.01.

I was looking on the product download patch site.

There is no patch to go from 8.1 to 8.1.01 that I can see for arserver,
look like you have to download the big installer and apply it.

So I will have arserver mid tier on 8.1.01 and the ITSM application on
 8.1

Then I will apply the 8.1.01.P1 patches that are available

Then maybe it will all work

Its enough to make you turn to drink

 For the full ITSM upgrade?

You can upgrade the Mid-Tier only where required, or just apply the
Mid-Tier patch to your current setup. However, the Mid-Tier does come as
part of the overall installer, so you would need to download this.

 Hi John,

With the user, no you do not need to run the installer as this user - the
installer must be run as an ARS Administrator. The User is required for
the ARID plugin that is installed and used by Process Designer so it
requires the correct ITSM permissions to be able to access the forms, etc.

Have you applied the necessary hotfix to the Mid-Tier as required by
Process Designer - this is required with the latest version dependent on
 you ARS/MT version installed?

You also need to restart the Mid-Tier completely after the installation to
get it to pick up all the necessary changes. You might also want to flush
 your Mid-Tier plugin cache.

You can also run the standalone Client from the local system install
(which is better as I BMC have never really explained how to get past the
errors when launching from the Mid-Tier)

I posted a Blog post on BMC Communities on some of the things to look out
for when using Process Designer - unfortunately it worked well when it was
a standalone product but BMC have yet to get it fully integrated as most
users would expect it to be, so there are lots of little things to note
 when implementing.

Query in Database to find difference between two date fields

2014-07-17 Thread Karthick S
Hi All,

We are using SQL 2005 Database for Remedy Application, the Remedy version
is 7.1.

I need to run a query in Database to find difference between two date
fields.

We all know that in AR system DB the date time will be store in Epoch
time.

I am not that much expert in SQL to write a query to find the difference.

Can anyone help me out on this.

Re: Query in Database to find difference between two date fields

2014-07-17 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

Why do you want to do it through SQL instead of through the normal interfaces?

Timestamps are stored as an integer counting seconds since 1970.

To find differences in Advanced Search, you do: ('date1' != 'date2')

In SQL you do (date1 != date2) replacing the fields with the fields column
name, for example C536870913.

Both these searches (API and SQL) will miss the case where one value is NULL
and the other has a date set. This must be handled by explicitly checking for
nulls.

But you might also be talking about finding differences as a specific
difference in time. Examples:
('date1' 'date2) which gives you a list of calles where date1 is earlier
than date2.
('date2' - 'date1' 3600) gives you all records where date2 is at least one
hour greater than date1.
...

The timeout you have may be too short for the amount of data you are trying to
process. Do you see a 'Partial Results' message down in the status bar after
the 2-year report completes?

Given the amount of time it takes to update an entire suite (AR server,
CMDB, AIE, ITSM, SRM, SLM, Migrator, Midtier), we were thinking of
splitting the installs into two separate days. One being AR Server, CMDB,
AIE, and Midtier. Then the next weekend being the remaining of the list
above). BMC has given us the indication that this will cause no problems.
We have a server group with one primary AR server and three secondary
servers. We did discover that you are unable to install the secondaries at
the same time because of an install user that is created in the database
then removed during the ARserver and CMDB installs).

Has anyone attempted this? If so, what has your result been? Any tips or
 suggestions?

 Thank you.
