Re: Finding the Local TZ for the User Logged In
Kevin, You stated that your goal was to be able to display things in the timezone of where the user is connecting from If that is the goal, if you just don't specify a timezone for the user in user preferences, doesn't that do what you are looking for? There is no need for you to get the timezone and set the user preference, just have it be blank and the fallback of the system picks up the local timezone. (at least that is the way I think it is supposed to work) This is also more flexible for folks who DON'T want you doing that. For example, if you did this to me, I would be off time for everything. I never change my timezone and always have all displays in PST regardless of where I am in the world. I do the translation of the time to the timezone so if you showed in local timezone, it would confuse me. So, I could just set the timezone on my user preference to lock it in. Others who wanted it adjusting would leave it blank and they would pick up the timezone from the current environment the client is running in. Or maybe I am not understanding the requirement Doug Mueller -Original Message- From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arslist@ARSLIST.ORG] On Behalf Of Kevin Shaffer Sent: Monday, April 13, 2015 2:40 PM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: Finding the Local TZ for the User Logged In Number 2 capture where people are logging in from Kevin Shaffer, Senior Partner Partner IT, Inc. In our sap portal, MYSSOSAP2 cookie is passed to SSO class files in deploy MT earfile which talks to ARS via AREASSO plugin on the servers, that autheniticate user and send information back to the browser to sign user on. During the depolyment on 8.1 on WAS8.5, we ran into issues that resulted in the JSESSIONID being config to JSESSIONID1. We think the portal is send MYSSOSAP cookie with jsessionid, but the WAS is returning jsessionid1, can the connection between the Myssosap != jsessionid1. We will be testing changing the jsessionid to jsessionid1 in portal, but that can't be the solution as that change breaks other stuff. (( not sure if this will resolve the issue)) We have tried change the jessionid1 to jsessionid in the WAS configuration but that revert to login redirect issue, which was later state by BMC said --How websphere works, it will create a JSESSIONID cookie and because Mid-Tier use the same JSESSIONID Authentication logic it generates conflicts with the cookie. Re: Application list not appearing on the Home page
Hi Vikram, Several years ago in ARS 7.6.3 I have seen issues with the application list not displaying. It turned out to be caused by a corruption in the meta data around containers. Active link guides, application and filter guides are all stored as different kinds of containers and because there was some kind of issue with a guide the app list wouldn't display. I think I had to fix the corruption in the meta data, I created some view forms against the meta data to find the issue and then I think we deleted the offending guide or something similar. Sorry I can't be more specific but I'm going on my memory from many years ago now. Of course this issue could have a completely different cause.
