Which version of Java are you using?

Mid-Tier 7.5 came out in 2009 and Java 7 came out in 2011. I have heard that
Java 8 causes issues on older Mid-Tiers.

You may want to make sure which java Tomcat is using

Has anyone installed 7.5 patch 007 midtier on a 2012 server?
I've been asked to do one and although everything seems to Install correctly
(JRE/JDK, Tomcat) it gets errors when I try to Do a config.jsp . The AR 7.5
patch 007 server installed fine and Access the db fine.

Thanks.

Re: Finding the Local TZ for the User Logged In

2015-04-15 Thread Mueller, Doug
Kevin,

You stated that your goal was to be able to display things in the timezone of
where the user is connecting from

If that is the goal, if you just don't specify a timezone for the user in user
preferences, doesn't that do what you are looking for? There is no need for
you to get the timezone and set the user preference, just have it be blank and
the fallback of the system picks up the local timezone. (at least that is the
way I think it is supposed to work)

This is also more flexible for folks who DON'T want you doing that. For
example, if you did this to me, I would be off time for everything. I never
change my timezone and always have all displays in PST regardless of where I am
in the world. I do the translation of the time to the timezone so if you
showed in local timezone, it would confuse me. So, I could just set the
timezone on my user preference to lock it in.

Others who wanted it adjusting would leave it blank and they would pick up the
timezone from the current environment the client is running in.

Or maybe I am not understanding the requirement

Doug Mueller

Is your requirement
   1. To display all Dates/Times in the local timezone of the user
 or
   2. To capture where people are located (so it can be reported on)

If it is for #1 (display of Dates/Times) then leaving the timezone empty on
User Preferences will do that for you (You only need to fill it out of you want
to override the automatic internal calculations).

I have a request from a customer for the following.

Scenario: A user logs into the Mid-Tier. The customer would like me to
capture the local TimeZone of the person that is logged in and automatically
update the timezone field on the Locale tab in the User Preferences form for
that person.

Has anyone had a similar requirement or have any suggestions?

HELP -- Issue pre-prod - Single Signon Failing

2015-04-15 Thread ddussie
Hello List,

MT Version 8.1.00 201401101150 Hotfix
ARS 7.5.00 Patch 004 201002051027

ARS 7.5.00 Patch 004 201002051027
Clustered Web Server Information IBM WebSphere Application Server/6.1
Operating System Name AIX
Java Version 1.5.0
Oracle 11g

How we are doing SSO (high level understanding - inherited env)?
In our sap portal, MYSSOSAP2 cookie is passed to SSO class files in deploy
MT earfile which talks to ARS via AREASSO plugin on the servers, that
autheniticate user and send information back to the browser to sign user on.

During the depolyment on 8.1 on WAS8.5, we ran into issues that resulted in
the JSESSIONID being config to JSESSIONID1.

We think the portal is send MYSSOSAP cookie with jsessionid, but the WAS is
returning jsessionid1, can the connection between the Myssosap !=
jsessionid1.

We will be testing changing the jsessionid to jsessionid1 in portal, but
that can't be the solution as that change breaks other stuff. (( not sure if
this will resolve the issue))

We have tried change the jessionid1 to jsessionid in the WAS configuration
but that revert to login redirect issue, which was later state by BMC said
--How websphere works, it will create a JSESSIONID cookie and because
Mid-Tier use the same JSESSIONID Authentication logic it generates conflicts
with the cookie. The solution is to rename through websphere to JSESSIONID1
or 2 or anything else.

Re: Application list not appearing on the Home page

2015-04-15 Thread Rod Harris
Hi Vikram,

Several years ago in ARS 7.6.3 I have seen issues with the application list
not displaying. It turned out to be caused by a corruption in the meta data
around containers. Active link guides, application and filter guides are
all stored as different kinds of containers and because there was some kind
of issue with a guide the app list wouldn't display. I think I had to fix
the corruption in the meta data, I created some view forms against the meta
data to find the issue and then I think we deleted the offending guide or
something similar.

Sorry I can't be more specific but I'm going on my memory from many years
ago now.

Of course this issue could have a completely different cause.

Hi Vivek,

Yeah, i have downloaded the setup file and tried upgrading it worked.
Sorry it was my bad. :)

Thanks for the mail and update.

Joe is right. 8.1.02 Patch1 is just bundle of hotfixes . One cannot
perform upgrade from 7604 using that.

 @Karthick :

1] Please download 8.1.02 release installer whose size will be around 1.5
 GB

Execute 8.1.02 config checker utility for config checks .

2] Upgrade AR using installer present in ARSUITEKit.zip.

3] Then you can apply AR 8.1.02 patch.

If you want to upgrade ITSM to 8.1.02 then after AR upgrade :

1]] Execute BPCU to check if any invalid customizations in BASE forms or
 workflows.

2] Create overlays if any illegal customizations present.

3] Execute 8.1.02 config checker utility for ITSM pre-checks and config
 checks.

 Thanks,
   Vivek

Not to pick up on the obvious, but is that patch cumulative? You are
trying to apply it to a 7.6.04 system so if that patch is not cumulative,
you might want to first upgrade it to a 8.1.x base version and then apply
 patches.
