Re: Engage 2016 Call for Papers - due March 7 - a discussion suggestion .... technical topics to be covered?

2016-03-04 Thread Mueller, Doug
Everyone,

I would strongly encourage you to use the Communities Forum for Engage for
submitting the "I would like to see but I am not the presenter" type topics.
That gives visibility to the ideas to everyone. It gives a chance to vote if
interested. It may give you new ideas of things to propose yourself.

Doug

Where would we get to see a list of ideas that are submitted? Would that be an
internal list for BMC to review or will that list be published for feedback or
ratings on ideas that are submitted?

Personally I feel the later is a better idea than having those ideas filtered
by BMC internally.

Yeah - What he said!
We've had people comment in the past that there weren't enough topics for the
more technically knowledgeable of you; or not enough topics on things that
interest you. So please do flood us with topics of interest! Of course, "no
guarantees" and all that. But would be great to get a good list in! And even
better if you are able to give the talk!

Everyone,

I just want to step in here in support of Daniel's suggestion and to encourage
you all to submit ideas.

If you have a topic you are passionate about and have expertise in that others
would like to know, please submit a talk. You get a free pass to the
conference if your talk is selected so that discussion about expenses becomes
much easier. And, you get to bask in the adoration of the masses who come to
your talk who all want to learn from you!

Now on the other side, if there are "talks that you want to see" although you
are not the expert, let's hear about those as well. There are times when we
have topics or themes that need to be covered and we go and find the right
speaker for a talk on that subject. So, if there are things you would really
like covered in a talk, please think about a title/abstract (couple of
sentences) about what that talk would be.

We would love to be flooded with both kinds of items - talks you want to
propose where you present and talks where you want to be in the audience.

Now the challenge for you... In the submissions so far, there is a team OTHER
THAN the Service Support (Remedy products, Discovery, ...) that have been
getting a lot of submissions and they are close to - if not there - in taking
over the lead in the number of submissions. I want to make sure that there are
more submissions of speakers and topic ideas from Service Support than all
other teams COMBINED. So, let's get busy with submitting those ideas.

Solved! You are correct.

When we upgraded from 8.1.0 to 8.1.2, that setting was reset to 25 default and
it was 1 on the old server when I checked on it. I never really paid attention
to the block size before until now as I've not had need to reset next IDs.

It sounds like you have not set the Next Request ID block size (The default is
25 so the server only reads the arschema when it runs out of the current block
of numbers it has in memory)

Got a weird one.

On a form, I wanted to reset the Request ID to use a specific number range.
When I reset the Next ID to say 1001, it creates the next record using the next
number in sequence, . However, when I look at the arschema metadata, it
tells me that the next ID to be used is 1001. Why would this be ignored?

Re: How to list down all the custom fields on ITSM forms?

2016-03-04 Thread Brittain, Mark
You could do it with AR Utilities. This may not be the best approach but if you
go to the fields tab, select the table/forms that are overlays, it will give
you the list custom fields. The list will include the form Request ID (1) but
that is easy to identify/exclude. OTB overlaid fields you may be able to
exclude but generally you can find those by Field ID. The list can then be
exported.

AA,
Just to be clear on definitions. Are you looking for a list of all fields in
your system that are currently of type 'Custom', or are you looking for a list
of all fields in your system that were created by you, not BMC, but are not
identified properly as custom objects yet, so that you can go through your

Hi Experts,

Please could you guide me for any technique to list down the name of all the
custom fields in whole ITSM related forms?

As we are soon upgrading to ITSM 9.0 and will be using SMART Reporting moving
ahead so we require it.

We require the list of custom fields from whole ITSM related forms to analyse
it and accomodate it for the SMART Reporting.

Ealry response will be highly appreciated.
