Subject: Cry for help! Task Management System

**
For the last week, I have been trying to find some documentation that actually
explains how to go about creating tasks and task group templates. And as
usual, I am left with the opinion that the Documentation for Remedy has become
an absolute embarrassment!
I was able to find (under Change Management) a 19 page document on TMS, but
while it extensively explained what I would call the theory behind the process,
it did not give instructions on how to actually create these templates.
Basically, I have not found a decent piece of documentation that says "Here are
the steps you take to create a Task Group". This is the kind of information
these fields want. Same for Task Templates. You know A MANUAL!
Does anyone know where I might find this information (ARS/ITSM 9.0.01)? It
wouldn't surprise me if I have been looking in the wrong place.

Anyone else have similar issues with the Documentation Wiki?

Hello Listers,

I have a Form with 20 fields. I expose 10 of them using a Table Field.

Is it possible to pick 4 colums of those 10 and say show them by default and
leave it up to the user whether he want to make them visible or not? If yes,
how?

Thanks

Re: Add fields to OTB notifications

2016-04-13 Thread Kelly Logan
I believe in 7.6.4 there is a whitepaper on the Notification Engine that
describes adding another field. As Misi noted the critical step is updating
the filters that process the field tags in a template and substitute the
field values from the 'SYS:Notification Messages' form.

So the broad steps are:

   1. Find (or add with workflow that sets it) the field you want to add to
   your template(s) on SYS:Notification Messages.
   2. Determine a tag to use for this field (one that doesn't match any
others currently used for other fields). Note that there may already be a
tag for this field that is used in other applications. It's worth checking
template menus for other apps to see if it is already in use for
   consistency's sake.
   3. (Optional) Update the template form menus to add your new tag (I
recommend this so you are sure the tag is typed in correctly, and again for
   consistency).
   4. Update the filters that run the substitutions for the templates that
you will be using the tag on. If it's just one field you can probably just
add another Set Fields action on one of the current filters. If its a few
you may want to add a new filter on the current list.

Re: Difference between Service action and Open Window action

2016-04-13 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

An Open Window call is something that opens a new window on the client, such
as a new search window for a form, or to display a dialog box, or run a
report.

A Service call in an Active Link is something that calls the server with a few
parameters, and then gets a few parameters back from the server. Normally the
server would have one or more service filters defined to use the input
parameters and set the output parameters.

Service calls can also be done from a Filter, but filter can never do an Open
Window as this is a client GUI thing.

BMC recommends 10G as I was told that yesterday. And 9.1 also has a large hot
fix to address some issues.

I think the indexing for 9.0 needs work. I searched yesterday for "max heap
size" or "java heap" in the 9.0 docs and it found nothing - see the attached, I
