SLM 7 Integration with Tasks.

2008-05-05 Thread Abhijit Oak
Hello Everybody,

My manager has assigned me a task wherein he wants me to integrate SLM
7.0 with Tasks.

As of now, it is not provided by BMC in the OOTB ITSM 7.

Niether of us (me and my manager) know how it is to be done, but both
agree that it has to be done. :)

If anybody, amounst you all, has ever tried doing this before with ITSM
7, please give me an idea where I need to start with on this. Some clues
or guidance would be really appreciated.

Thanks Regards,

Abhijit Oak.

Re: arimportcmd - suse

2008-04-24 Thread Abhijit Oak
Hello LJ,

There is syntactical information regarding the arimportcmd command on
the AR Admin Help.

So I wont talk about the syntax or parameters or thier values. I am sure
you must have already checked it out.

But as a pre-requisite to the arimport cammand, I would provide the
following commands at command line:

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/var/tmp/cmdbExtLoader/server/bin/

export LIBPATH=/var/tmp/cmdbExtLoader/server/bin/

Of course, these paths may be slightly different on your system, but you
can easily locate them and setting these environment variables.

The commandline arimport command would return an error for me if I did
not set these environment variables in advance.

Check this out and let me know if it works or otherwise.

Thanks Regards,

Hello Dylan,

I found the following description for the error 552 in the AR Error

description about 823.
Failure during SQL operation to the database.

An SQL database error occurred during an operation against the database.

The error is often a message about running out of space in the database
log or data area. You can

correct this by increasing the size of the data area or by flushing or
increasing the size of the log

area.

Hello Dylan,

Looking at the error 823 description you have sent down, I think
this is not a Remedy Error. It is a database error being fired by SQL
Server.

You could try searching google by the text SQL Server 21. This
is the text mentioned in the bracket after the error.

I am not a database expert so I dont know much of what happens
at the database end in the background.

But somewhere down, I am having a feeling that both error
numbers are related somewhere or the other to increasing the database
log size and data size (or probably table space, or whatever they call
it).

Please let me know once you get a solution for this.

Re: Arserver.exe high CPU usage

2008-04-17 Thread Abhijit Oak
Hello,

You may need to observe and find out exactly when the system goes slow.
I mean, which application; you may also have to drill down to which
module (if possible).

There is a high chance that your system may be slowing down because some
of your filters may be going into a loop.

For eg:

Filter A runs on 'Modify' action of Form Y and pushes values to Form X.
Filter B runs on 'Modify' action of Form X and pushes values to Form Y.

In such a situation, let us assume filter A gets called first; performs
its actions; fires Filter B, which performs its actions and fires Filter
A in return.

This is a non-ending situation and slows down the server considerably
after some time.

Plus, looking at the kind of memory space and processors you have got,
this could be possible, but may take a long time to pull down the speed
of the server.

I am not sure if this is the exact problem, but you could definitely
check it out.

Thanks Regards,

Abhijit Oak

Hi List

ARS 7.0.1 Patch 5
SQL Server 2005
Windows 2003

We have two servers operating as a server group with a single
database.

The Problem is this. We needed to change one of our service
targets and after doing so clicked build. The status of the service
target has gone to build in progress but has gone no further.

We have tried to delete the SLA abd rebuild them but got an
plugin error (ARERR 8939)

Any advice help appreciated.

TIA

Alan D West

Problem with Command line import.

2008-04-14 Thread Abhijit Oak
Hello,

I am facing a very peculiar problem with commandline data import.

Let me first explain the environment. We have two servers - Development
and Production. We brought the DEF file of a form called 'xyz' from the
production to development. Now we want to import data in the this form
to development from production.

Production is on AR Version 4 and development is AR Version 7. Both have
Solaris as OS.

First I logged in into Development server and used the 'runmacro'
command to export data from the same form in production to arx format.
When I tried importing the arx into development, 75 out of 100 records
got imported. The log file showed the 'ARERR 91' error on these.

Thus, I tried logging in into production and ran the 'runmacro' command
to get the arx from the production itself. I then FTPed the arx to the
development server and tried importing. But the result was the same.

I compared the two arx files. The only difference that I noticed was
that, the arx generated in the second case (directly through production)
did not have a line of text which says - CHAR-SET windows-1252.

What difference does this line make when importing into V7 ?

Can somebody please help me with this.

Imp. Note: Here we are dealing with data in excess of 50k records.

Thanks Regards,

Abhijit Oak

Re: Problem with Command line import.

2008-04-14 Thread Abhijit Oak
Hello Rick,

No. Actually it is a helpdesk form from Version 4.

However, I brought the def file seperately and just sending the data
from the same form on production to the same form on development.

The form is supposed to be an archive of old data on new system.

Thanks Regards,

Abhijit Oak

** Are you attempting to import into core forms, like User or Group? If
so, those have substantially changed between v4 and v7.
