Date conversion in Pentaho/Spoon

2012-03-01 Thread Barbara Siebert
ARSListers,

ARS Version: 7.6.04 SP2

MS SQL 20008

I'm learning Pentaho/Spoon (part of the new Atrium Integrator on ARS 7.6.04
SP2) and I'm stumped on how to get dates from a text file input to CMDBOutput.
I'm following the sample from BMC. For example, my spreadsheet has a date in
US format of 10/13/2007. It's in the text file input as a String type.I'm
using the Select Values step to rename and format it. Using BMC's example I'm
using the format of M/d/ hh:mm:ss . When I do this, the output fails with:

Unparseable date: "Sat Oct 13 09:00:00 PDT 2007"

I've tried changing the format and selecting from the menus. No luck. I've
tried changing the date format on my spreadsheet. I've tried dd/mm/,
mm/dd/ and /mm/dd formats with and without time on my spreadsheet with
various formats in the Select Values step. I get either the above error or
Unparseable date: "10/13/2007"

I think I've tried every combination and I'm still not succeeding in getting
dates into CMDB. Everything else works great.

I'm out of ideas. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you,

Barb

No, I am just saying where you can find the spreadsheets which is what Barbara
asked. When I used them recently I had to run the data management install to
create the directory structure to get access to the spreadsheets.

What I can't tell you is whether the data management console is part of the
ITSM install or part of running the data management install as I didn't pay
enough attention to it. What I can tell you is that the loading of the sample
data into 7.6 didn't go as smoothly as it did in 7.5. A lot of the data threw
up errors in the console.

** Barb, from an architectural level, 7.5 and 7.6 are almost identical, so the
processes should work with either one. Perhaps this is one of those places
where we need to tweak the SHARE:Application_Properties values to trick AR
System into thinking it has something it doesn't?

import the data into the table. However, when I use arimportcmd to import the
data thru an escalation, nothing happens. I don't get an error, the log file

The escalation run process command I am using is:

C:"\\arimportcmd" -m -d

I have verified that arimportcmd resides at the path name. I have verified the
path name of the arm file. The userid and password are valid.

When the escalation runs, the escalation log shows it completed. The log file
BP.log is empty and the table arimportcmd should populate is empty. I get no
error messages.

When I copy the escalation run process command above and paste it in the DOS
command line, press enter, the table is populated and the c:\BP.log file shows
it ran successfully.

What command is missing from the escalation run process to get the escalation
to import the data?

Regaining Focus after Dialog Closes in Midtier

2008-01-09 Thread Barbara Siebert
ARSListers,

We've recently upgraded ARS and Midtier to 7.1 patch 1 and now we're having an
intermittent problem that I'm hoping someone has a fix for. The functionality
has worked for 2 years before this upgrade. The problem does not occur in the
WUT.

We're on a custom form (Form A) and on return in a field, a dialog opens. When
the dialog opens, it covers only a portion of the screen and Form A is greyed
out in the background. On the dialog form is a table from which the user makes
a selection then clicks save and the data transfers back to Form A and closes
the dialog. All this works. However, all the fields on Form A are still
greyed out. There is no way to continue to use the system. As I said, this is
intermittent but happens most of the time. The dialog may work 2 or 3 times
and then Form A gets "stuck" in greyed out mode.

ARS 7.1, patch 1
Midtier 7.1, patch 1
Tomcat 5.5.17
Windows 2003
Java 1.5.0_14

Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Customqual in Flashboards

2008-01-08 Thread Barbara Siebert
John,
I believe that the keyword $TIMESTAMP$ must be escaped. In other words use
both the dollar sign ($) and backslash (\) so that you have $\TIMESTAMP$. I
know that has worked for me with other keywords. You'll have to used the
combined customqual to get it to work.

Subject: Customqual in Flashboards

I'm trying to get my customqual to do two operations 1. pull the tickets by
the group selected on the flashboard form and, 2. Tickets that are over
30 days all while the status is not Closed or Resolved.

In the Flashboard variable I have ('Status' != "Resolved") AND
('Status' != "Closed") AND ('Create-date' < ($TIMESTAMP$ - 2592000))
Which works!

In my active link I have"customqual='Supervisor Group+'=" ++
$Tickets By Group$+ Which works!

But since the custom call over writes the variable I get all the tickets by
the group selected and not the one that are over 30 days all while the
status is not Closed or Resolved only.

My question is how can I add on to the customqual so that it also includes
the 30 day old and the correct status?

I've tried various combination of "customqual='Supervisor Group+'="
++ $Tickets By Group$+ + "('Status' != "Resolved")" + "('Status' !=
"Closed")" + " ('Create-date' < ($TIMESTAMP$ - 2592000))"
But either errors out during the save of the active link or while
refreshing the flashboard.

Displaying PDF Attachments in MidTier

2007-11-29 Thread Barbara Siebert
Greetings,
We're getting an annoying blank page when we open an attachment that is in PDF
format in MidTier.

Here's what we're experiencing.

If we open an attachment, say a .doc, a page pops up asking us if we want to
Open or Save the attachment. If you click on Open, the document is displayed.
When you close out of the document, you are returned to the form with the
attachment field.

If we open an attachment that is a .pdf then a blank page (without the Open or
Save prompt) briefly displays before the .pdf is displayed. When you close out
of the document, you are left looking at the blank page. You have to close
this, too, to return to the form with the attachment field.

This does not happen in the Windows User Tool.

Any idea how we can suppress/close the blank page? We're on ARS 6.3, patch 22
and MidTier 6.3.

Thanks,
Barb Siebert

Change Requests for Dev/QA and Production

2007-01-09 Thread Barbara Siebert
A client has a process by which most of their changes go through Development/QA
before they are implemented in Production. We believe we have three options
for this within Change Management 7:

1. We submit two change requests, one for Dev/QA and one for Prod. We
would create a button/link on the Navigation Pane of the Change Request form to
create a Production Change Request from the Dev/QA Change Request that would
copy the relevant fields from the Dev/QA Change Request into the Production
Change Request and relate the Dev/QA Change Request to Production Change
Request.
2. We use one Change Request and use the Status of Planning in Progress
for the actual planning, implementation in Development, and Testing in QA and
add these activities to the Status Reason Code for the Planning in Progress
Status.
3. We create a Parent Change Request and then create two Child Change
Requests, one for Dev/QA and one for Prod.

Does anyone see an advantage to one method over the other? Any other ideas?

Thanks for any and all insights.

Macs Not displaying Character Expand Boxes and Diary Fields

2006-04-21 Thread Barbara SIEBERT
Listers,

ARS 6.3 patch 13, Oracle 9i, Mid-Tier 6.3 patch 13, Linux, Apache Tomcat
5.0.28, Java 1.4.2, Help Desk 6

I'm on a project at an university where there are lots of Mac users using
FireFox to access the Mid-Tier. Everything works fine except for 2 annoying
issues.
   1) Scroll bars, just the bars, are appearing randomly throughout the screen.
They can live with this but it isn't pretty.

   2) When you click on the expand box or diary field icon, the edit screen
opens but the text is in a small area on the screen and is only the amount that
you could see on the HD ticket. They do not see the full edit screen. This is
extremely annoying as they can't see, for example, the entire Description
field, nor add to it.

Any suggestions on how to fix/troubleshoot these issues? I'm not a Mac person
and don't know where to start.

Re: ARERR 1651 -Incorrect format in the definition file-Resolved

2006-04-18 Thread Barbara SIEBERT
I didn't make any changes but I am no longer having the problem. We did stop
and start ARS.

**
Hi Barbara,
Can you please provide information from the arerror.log file.
Please try to remove or comment (#) the line that loads the plugin for Asset
Managment (arfcbdata.dll) or remove all of them and try one by one. Restart the
ARS after your modification.
seems like the plugin is reading the def files on the path , and having some
problem with the def files. I have encountered something similar lately and
discovered the plugins were the problem, though i have no clue why it is
actually trying to read any defs from there !

let us know the outcome.

 Barbara question's
1.) Do you have different version or patches of ARS loaded on
your servers.
2.) Is the version of the remedy users tool the same as the ARS
version
3.) Is Save Windows Workspace option under tools/options/General
tab
Checked.
(if this option is turned on then it will attempt to open the last
screens even if you are not connected to the server where they reside if
the screen definition saved in the workspace does not match the form on
the server then you could receive a Def format error. Or just a blank
screen.)

Oh! Hello Axton.

Workflow and forms are changing as this is a dev server and we plan on
moving the changes to prod this coming week. I have reviewed the most
recent changes and I didn't see anything unusual.
We have a custom home page and sometimes it opens and sometimes I get
the ARERR 1651. It's been a month since the home page and it's related
workflow has been updated. This problem started about 4 days ago.

Has anything changed in your environment recently? Server upgrade,
configuration change, workflow/form changes.

the last 3 days I've been fine. Today I'm getting it consistently and
my user tool has become unusable. The mid-tier works fine. When I look
at the Object List, the forms I am trying to access are not in the
list. I am an admin on this server. Here's what I've tried today:
